AT THE TOP: Must remove Facts!! Thou revert. Thou bad.[edit source]

You reverted removing facts from Borat. Bad. --87.165.127.214 03:43, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Eek. Where was that? I was probably in a hurry and didn't read the whole edit... sorry. Which edit was it? Gimme a link, or re-remove them. Again, sorry. -- Paw print.jpg 03:49, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Um, went and found the edit for myself. I reverted because you were an IP removing a huge amount of content - changing an alright-sized article into a stubby stub stub. Internal anti-vandal-bot autoresponse, sorry. If you still think it's too factual, edit the facts to make them false, rather than just removing everything. Nice idea, though. -- Paw print.jpg 03:54, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Difficult. --87.165.127.214 03:57, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, but... we can't have a load of stubs floating around. Go on, give it a go, it might work. -- Paw print.jpg 03:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Completed a less factual version which with a dirty trick does not remove the old biography. However, did not remove the fact-template. Too bad. --87.165.127.214 04:06, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Ja, just saw on Recent Changes. Better. :) Could maybe try glueing it together a bit better, though, if you have time. -- Paw print.jpg 04:14, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

UnNews:Veganism story[edit source]

As the story writer and original recorder of this piece, I was amused by your very straight-faced BBC-worthy delivery (eh... they should be so fortunate) of a completely ridiculous story. Bravo.  :) In contrast to my semi-autobiographical, low-fi, kitchen table delivery from a man unjustly fired from his job as UnNews Anchorman (just because I disappeared for a few weeks, without a trace), it stands well on its own. <3 ~ Sir Todd GUN WotM MI UotM NotM MDA VFH AotM Bur. AlBur. CM NS PC (talk) 00:26, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Nooo!! That wasn't what I meant at all - I just forgot to add the {{RIP}} to the page before I started recording, and didn't notice your version until mine was already uploaded. So I just added it to my page anyway. I didn't mean for mine to be an alternative to yours, just that I couldn't be arsed to add mine to QVFD. I really liked yours - love the idea of telling it like it actually is, as oppose to pretending to be some newsreader like most of us do. You should do more! But thank you very much anyway. :D -- Paw print.jpg 17:53, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
I was a radio announcer for a couple of years, so that was the impetus behind UnNewsAudio. People here were amused that my young daughter would always interrupt me while I recorded stories, so that's kind of my theme now: professional sounding voice but unprofessional behaviour.  :) I still record as much as I can, but don't have much time. Your recording is hilarious and QVFDing it would've been a crime. Keep your award, and my admiration.  :) ~ Sir Todd GUN WotM MI UotM NotM MDA VFH AotM Bur. AlBur. Vanity2 note[edit source]

If the article in question is without a doubt VERY in violation of the vanity policies, then feel free to just add it to QVFD. I originally intended {{vanity2}} (or at least the new version) for articles that could be fixed up to not violate policy rather than the ones that had no hope. —Hinoa KUN (talk) 18:14, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Losing my virginity[edit source]

Hello tiddles, today I finally went ahead and did it! Published my first article! Yaayy. Since you are such an excellent scholar of the British language and generally a very nice person, could you perhaps look it over and correct any obviously blatant errors in spelling, vocabulary, syntax and grammar that would otherwise detract from the reading experience ? Wot with me being a Dutchy bastard thingy whom could not even spell correctly if his next beer depended upon it. The article is called The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse and treats a subject I'm very familiar with. Thanking you in advance, your adopted uncle (the one with the sad puppy eyes and the halitosis) -- di Mario 14:27, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Okay done. Nothing really to change apart from spelling. Nice article! Likey mucho. :) -- Paw print.jpg 23:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! Should you ever have a similar request for a Dutch text, I'll be happy to return the favour. -- di Mario 09:45, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Me being too godawful at languages to speak anything except what we are pressganged into learning at school, it's unlikely, but thanks a lot anyway. :D -- Paw print.jpg 11:22, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Template and something else[edit source]

I like it. Also, don't worry about not being able to record my article. (Sorry the second bit of comment is a bit out of date, but I didn't notice it until earlier.) --—Braydie 23:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

How the hell did you find that so fast?? :). Yeah, sorry about the article, sometimes the program just does that... grr. Have to save about once every 5 seconds. Oh well. Sannse suggested the template on IRC - was thinking of some kind of alternative welcome for vandals etc who weren't quite insta-ban. I'll put up a forum topic, see what people think. Good luck with NotM! -- Paw print.jpg 00:00, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Haha, refreshing recent changes at the right moment. I like the idea, I think if it has some colour it will draw their focus to it (something to do with our primate ancestors, and pretty colours). It's not a problem :), and thank you very much for the "Good Luck" :D. --—Braydie 00:10, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Thankyou[edit source]

Thanks for recording my UnNews article, great job with the accents. --—Braydie 23:29, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks :D. My first go with the accents, glad they're okay. -- Paw print.jpg 00:38, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
I saw that you added the recording of this article. I have since made a number of additions to it. Is there any chance that you could please re-record the story? Thanks. (feel free also to record the story I myself wrote a couple of days ago also :) ) Beth 01:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Um, your edits seem to have been reverted, not sure why. In general practice we don't re-record articles - anything done after an article's been recorded just stays in the article, I'm afraid. I can un-revert your edits, but in general we only record articles once. Sorry.
I think it should be reverted back so it matches the audio file.. --—Braydie 15:08, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, I have to say I disagree, per my reply to your message on my talk page. What use is a "content free encyclopedia that anyone can edit" if nobodies alowed to edit things?. It defeats the whole object and spirit of the site. Beth 17:17, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

I see you like helping newbs[edit source]

I'm glad, excuse me for being a bit unexpected, but I want to get more into unnews and it's audio bits. How may I, armed only with my microphone, be able to record my own Unnews stories? Could you point me in the wrong right direction with what I need to download, install, add, and tips on jingle use and where to find them? I would really appreciate your help flyingfeline. So I've got me fingers crossed.--Witt, Union leader.gif of Union member.gif UNion Entertain me* 04:55, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

It's pretty easy, to be honest - do you have a program like Audacity or anything? You just need something that lets you record stuff from a microphone, move the bits around and then export them as an .mp3. (You need a plugin for this with Audacity, but it doesn't work on my computer so I export them as .ogg and then use Switch to change the file type.) The jingles are here for Americans and here for British users. Most people put one at the beginning and a shorter version (cut and then faded-in) at the end, but it's pretty flexible.
Audacity is here,
The plugin (LameLib) is here, and
Switch is here, if LameLib doesn't work.
Hope that helps, and look forward to hearing your voice added soon! -- Paw print.jpg 13:31, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
And p.s, you're not a newb, you liar, you've been around longer than me. :)
So, I just need Audacity and a plugin? Thanks for the helpful links! I am looking forward to this doing this now (especially since my only UnNews article was a bit subpar, thank you!
For the record, although I have been a member longer than you have, I'm still a newb with how things work, which is why I am asking you for help silly ;)--Witt, Union leader.gif of Union member.gif UNion Entertain me* 14:18, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
P.S. I'm installing audacity 1.2.5 now, which mirror is the correct one? (I'm in U.S. New York State)--Witt, Union leader.gif of Union member.gif UNion Entertain me* 00:47, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Erm, yikes, I don't know. They generally have the approximate area of each one - I'm in England so I use the one in Kent, but New York's big so there should be one around there. Is there a kind of grid with loads of logos etc? I'm not sure how much it matters, but I think you choose the one closest to you. If you look closely it should tell you. -- Paw print.jpg 11:08, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Ah, I downloaded it already. I don't think LameLib is compatible with anything but MAC OSX from the looks of it. So I am thinking of getting the free switch download instead. Expect my second UnNews article/first audio shortly. Thanks so much for the help!--Witt, Union leader.gif of Union member.gif UNion Entertain me* 16:54, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Oh, one more thing - Switch will tell you after a while that you have to buy the software in order to keep using it. Just ignore it, there's no actual block in place.  :) -- Paw print.jpg 19:03, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Hehehe, thank you. I'm extremely flattered, if absolutely mortified. The answer on the talkpage was to do with the audio I forgot to do, not the article itself, don't worry. XD -- Paw print.jpg 11:22, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Quick question[edit source]

Would you mind if I take off the recording in progress tag on UnNews:Pope_apologizes;_makes_new_speech_praising_Islam ? I'm not complaining or anything, people have done plenty of awesome audios of my writing, but it looks like this one is not going to happen and I'd rather get rid of the template which appears to be no longer needed. I would have brought this up earlier, but I was afraid it might be seen as rude. --Hrodulf 11:29, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Oh, crap. I'm really sorry... when did I put that on there? I don't even remember putting it there. Yeah, sure, I'll remove it now. Gawd, sorry about that... :*| -- Paw print.jpg 13:18, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
It's ok. I just wasn't sure what the netiquette was for this sort of thing. No hard feelings, I'd be a hypocrite if I had any. Take a look at how far behind I am at UnNews:Ask Hal 9000 to see what I mean. --Hrodulf 14:48, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Hehe, that must take a lot longer though. And don't worry about the netiquette - completely my mistake, really stupid thing to do. And it means no-one else records the article... Oops.
Generally if an article hasn't been recorded after a few days it's safe to take it off, though you shouldn't really have to. I'll try not to do it again! -- Paw print.jpg 16:51, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

mp3 please[edit source]

As usual, I loved your audio. They seem to be getting better in sound quality over time. Perhaps I was vague in my last note to you about file formats. UnNews used mp3 as a standard. Please let me know if this is a problem for you. Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. Zim_ulator (Talk) I am the dirt under your rollers 14:30, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Oh.... Um... Sorry.
I didn't realise it was that much of a big deal - I don't remember a last note. I'll have a look... Um. Anyway. I'm using .ogg also because I can't get the right plugin for Audacity to convert straight to .mp3, and the converter I did have was on free trial and the trial period's run out. If you know of somewhere I can get another one, I'd be happy to bo back to .mp3, but in the meantime I'll use .ogg if that's okay.
You probably won't check back here so I'll go to your talkpage instead. And thanks about the audios! :) -- Paw print.jpg 14:58, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
No need for apologies. I guess it is kind of a big deal, inasmuch as anything can be a deal of any kind with Uncyclopedia. I use "Advanced Audio Converter", but unfortunately it's for PC only. I imagine there might be freeware program out there for Macs, but I don't know of any off hand. Ask around the Uncyc "water cooler", other Mac users may have found something. Thanks for getting back to me, and keep up your great work. Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. Zim_ulator (Talk) I am the dirt under your rollers 15:24, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Kay, I'll bug Zid until he finds me something. Thanks. Um... do I have to get it before I make any new ones? Cause it might take a while, depending on when... Oh never mind, I'll just look for one myself </lazy>. -- Paw print.jpg 15:35, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm so pleased you were able to find something to render mp3! I may just pass out from my sheer overjoyment... is that a word?... never mind... also, GREAT work on those last 3. Thanks for your hard work and excellent contributions. Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. Zim_ulator (Talk) I am the dirt under your rollers 22:36, 27 October 2006 (UTC) BTW, I'll bet I'm lazier than you.

UnNews: Pupils can't breathe[edit source]

I tried to listen to this story but my media player wouldn't play it, the other ones will play. You should record the same type of file as the others. This one doesn't work

Oh, I'm sorry about that. It's in .ogg, a kind of free software version of .mp3. You can get players for it - most people have them with their computers, but you can download them online. Wikipedia uses .ogg, and we used to use it here, but for some reason most people changed to .mp3... I think for the reasons you just gave. I'll only change if Zim or someone tells me to, I think - I prefer free software (read the article I linked to for the reasons why). -- Paw print.jpg 21:51, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
FYI, we've "officially" gone over to mp3, or the dark side, whichever you Mac users may call it. If you have a problem creating mp3's, please let me know. Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. Zim_ulator (Talk) I am the dirt under your rollers 14:14, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
