Machine Gun Kelly (musician)
George Kelly Colson Baker (born April 22, 1900), known professionally as Machine Gun Kelly and also known as MGK is an American singer-songwriter, "rapper", and "actor". He used to be a rapper but is actually now a rock singer who uses Auto-Tune a lot. Early in his career he was a rapper but now he doesn't actually make rap music anymore. His fifth studio album, Tickets To My Rising, marked his transition from being a rapper to a rock singer after being ended by Eminem. He is also a terrible director and has made terrible movies, which is why every single one of them has gotten bad reviews.
Also, he is an Eminem wannabe.
Early life[edit | edit source]
MGK was born on April 22, 1900 in Houston. He was basically everywhere around the world, going to countries like Egypt and Germany. He also lived in a lot of cities in the United States, but he has chosen to live in Cleveland. His parents left him at a young age and has faced bullying in school. Basically, he was orphaned in his early life. During 6th grade, he listened to a lot of rap music. He was a huge fan of Eminem, DMX and Ludacris, but little did he know that he would be ended by Eminem, one of his inspirations, later in his life.
Career[edit | edit source]
Early career[edit | edit source]
In 2009, MGK decided to create rap music. He would gain attention by appearing in an MTV show. Even though he is starting to be popular, he worked in Chipotle to afford rent. He would then go back to his home state of Ohio and gain popularity there. He would then be signed to a record label owned by P Diddy, however, surprisingly, he didn't collaborate with Kesha.
2012-2015: Shoelaces and Everyone's Welcome[edit | edit source]
In 2012, even though he was popular in one state at the time, MGK announced his debut album Shoelaces. "Wild As Hell" was released as the lead single and peaked at #98 on the Billboard Hot 100 because he was considered underground, apparently, despite being signed to a label owned by another famous rapper. The second single, "Invisible" was released featuring Ester Dean, somebody you might've never heard of until now. He also somehow managed to perform in Wrestlemania despite the fact that only a single state has heard of him, but nevertheless the entire country now knows him for this, for now. In 2012, he somehow ended up in the XXL Freshmen list along with a mix of talented and untalented rappers. Shoelaces was released on its intended date of October 9, 2012. It debuted at #22 at the time since not everyone in the world has heard of him. Another album, Everyone's Welcome, would be released in 2015.
2016-2019: Rise to fame[edit | edit source]
MGK released his breakout hit, Good Things featuring Camila Cabello in 2016. He was going to perform as the opening act for Linkin Park's tour but that never happened. To mourn Chester Bennington, he decided to release an acoustic version of one of their hits, which was the first and only time that he ever showed remorse in his career. Anyways, "Good Things" was featured in his third album that bought him to fame, called Loom. Then, he decided to destroy his entire rap career after dissing his biggest influence from his early life, Eminem. The song, entitled "I'm The Rap Jesus", has gotten negative reviews from critics and listeners alike, thus his entire fanbase left him. Eminem would diss him back, thus ending MGK's rap career forever.
To cope with his defeat, he decided to become a rock singer. He would release his next album, Hotel Angelo in 2019. He says that if this album gets popular he'll pursue a career as a rockstar, which actually happened.
2020-present: Rock era[edit | edit source]
In 2020, he announced that his fifth album, Tickets To My Rising will be released sometime in the future. MGK said that in an interview that he's going to make a pop punk album to avoid being hated by rap fans. For the oddest reasons, he opened a coffeehouse in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's still open to this day. Almost no one liked the direction that he was going. He did a podcast for Halloween, which was very weird. He then made his directoral debut with his film "Rising High", which gained negative reviews, just like his fifth album. Then, he announced his sixth album, Born With A Halo would be released next year, later he would rename that album as I Hate Rap Music. The album sucked, like his last album. He then directed another film called Good Evening which yet again got negative reviews.
Musical style[edit | edit source]
As mentioned, MGK used to be a rapper but after Eminem dissed him he became a rock singer. Early in his career he used to do hip-hop music but then he now does rock music. His music has been considered now as pop punk, pop rock and alternative rock. Also, he claims to be the male version of Avril Lavigne. They apparently collaborated together. While he claims to like DMX and Eminem, he really didn't like the latter, so he is a hypocrite. Later in his career he decided to listen to blink-182 and Guns N' Roses. Basically, he likes to listen to punk rock music when he's not recording in the studio.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
So, apparently, he has a child.
Unsurprisingly, he also claims to smoke cannabis and made it the main focus of one of his films. He also has been addicted to heroin and adderall.
MGK is an anarchist, but he's surprisingly not political.
He's currently in a relationship with Megan Fox, and has made an engagement ring for her so that she can't take it off. If she does, one of her fingers will bleed. He's also made her emo.
