Ice Spice looks suspiciously similar to Carrot Top.

Isis Gaston (born on New Year's Day 2000), known professionally as Ice Spice, is an American rapper. Contrary to her name, she was never part of the Spice Girls and isn't British. She actually grew up in The Bronx and began her career in 2021 while attending university. She rose from the underground in 2022 with her song "Munch" and released her debut EP in 2023. Many critics consider her the new "Queen of Rap", a title previously held by Nicki Minaj. Also, she is the female version of Carrot Top.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Ice Spice was born at the turn of the new millennium in 2000 in New York. While a lot of people think she's Irish, she's actually Nigerian-Dominican. Both of her parents first met at a McDonald's and divorced by the time she turned 2. Growing up, Ice Spice was with her cousins and her parents were mostly absent. She became interested in hip hop at the age of 7 and started writing her own raps and poetry.

Career[edit | edit source]

After meeting with a record producer, Ice Spice started rapping in 2021 with a freestyle. Her song "Name of Love" gained traction of SoundCloud, which led to her socials gaining 100,000 followers every day. She then released her breakout song "Munch" in 2022, which gained popularity after Drake played the song on his radio station. Then it went viral on social media, as usual. She would then be signed in September 2022. Ice Spice's debut EP, Like...? would be released on January 20, 2023. Although a lot of people streamed it, Anthony Fantano gave it a 5/10 on The Needle Drop, possibly because he thinks that the songs "Munch" and "Bikini Bottom" weren't forgettable, unlike the other songs in the EP.

Ice Spice's popularity would later increase even more after she appeared in PinkPantheress' song, "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2", which then became PinkPantheress' most popular song of all time and is the song when people think of PinkPantheress' music.

However, this isn't the case anymore in 2024 because she has an obsession with poop and Two Girls One Cup. When she released her debut album Millennial, Baby!, nobody really gave a shit about her because of the TikTok curse on musicians.

Musical style[edit | edit source]

The official icon for Ice Spice fans

Ice Spice's music is mostly drill, however she also samples Britpop and her lookalike Carrot Top's comedy standups in her songs. Her name came from a "finsta" she made and also her obsession with the Spice Girls. She says that she writes all her own lyrics without any ghostwriters, unlike Cardi B, who is one of her influences. While she has named rappers such as Pop Smoke and Nicki Minaj as her influences, she also named The 1975 and Coldplay as some of her own as well. Ice Spice has said that To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar is the greatest album of all time and even went as far as to make a campaign to dethrone Radiohead's OK Computer to make it the most highly rated album of all time on Album Of The Year.

Her personal favorite Spice Girl is Ginger Spice, aka Geri Halliwell. She also cites Halliwell as a fashion influence as well. It's also mentioned that she is pansexual.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Ice Spice fully admitted to having a crush on SpongeBob SquarePants and even thought of dating him.
