Talk:Game of Thrones
Looks promising! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:21, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
- Cheers muchly. This one might take a while, but should be worth it. I was considering doing the whole book series as a labour of love, but couldn't think of a way to effectively approach it. --Holy Shit It's powell 18:46, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
- I hadn't heard about this work before it appeared on TV. Fans won't need an introduction but outsiders would need more of a set up. It seems to me to be a medieval Euoropean romp but without Christianity, War as politics by other means, lashings of sex, Arthurian legends etc. ..but given different clothes. An adult version of Sword in the Stone. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 15:37, June 1, 2011 (UTC)
- That's pretty much the whole thing in a nutshell. You could also go with "kings and lords get their shit fucked up by a eunuch, a dwarf, a fourteen year-old girl and a man whose nickname means tiny penis." I'm trying to keep the article as much about the TV series as possible and avoid stuff that's only in the books, there's no point taking the piss out of the Astapori when nobody has a clue who they are yet. --Holy Shit It's powell 17:25, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

I love the show and like the way this article is going. Hope you don't mind that I added a little. --
21:23, June 5, 2011 (UTC)- Good stuff, I like the Nights Watch in particular. I removed the 'alleged' from Ned's entry though, since he's certainly the proganist of the first season. --Holy Shit It's powell 08:13, June 6, 2011 (UTC)
It is progressing well though the books as written by Father Christmas can perhaps be re-jigged. Perhaps as written by the Irish and Maltese tourist organisations in conjuction with the British and Irish actors union Equity in the tradition of New Zealand had with Lord of the Rings...etc. Just an idea..perhaps as a footnote.. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 22:10, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, I like this, I'll see about working it in. Father Christmas is an actual fan nickname for George R.R. Martin, but it's in the article more as a placeholder right now. --Holy Shit It's powell 08:13, June 6, 2011 (UTC)
- OK..BTW I do have some pix of the 'lesbian scene' you mentioned earlier. Nothing too overt but it's an important reference to the article. I didn't know that Father Christmas was his name though I was interested in the 'double RR' in the name. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 08:31, June 6, 2011 (UTC)
- And also...the writer hasn't finished the work. That's an unusual risk for HBO to take in making the series. What if to all becomes rancid pants by book 7 or whatever? --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 08:33, June 6, 2011 (UTC)
- So far the books haven't dipped in quality, although book four has largely been dealing with the fallout from book three (the second half of Storm of Swords is just one clusterfuck of surprises and plot twists after another), so hopefully the series will also stay high quality. I'm not adding any more pictures at the moment, the reason is that I'm doing this on my work computer which has dodgy resolution, so the layout doesn't look like it would on most people's screens. Once I go back to using my own laptop I'll start adding more pics, so the lesbian scene would be a handy one. --Holy Shit It's powell 08:58, June 6, 2011 (UTC)
- If you're looking for a picture of Peter Dinklage, there's a picture of Peter Dinklage on the article Peter Dinklage which is also *ahem* on VFH. -- 20:09, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
- I approve of your shamelessness. And your additions to the article. Consider yourself one up on VFH. --Holy Shit It's powell 21:56, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm also interested in the possibly disastrous directions the show/books could go in the future. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with books 4 and 5 taking place concurrently. --
- I don't really think they can. I imagine they'll split it in the same way ASoS was split, but that may not work because AFfC doesn't really have a mid-point crescendo like the scene in Queenscrown Tower. I absolutely can't wait for the dramatic climax of ASoS being onscreen, though. "I only ever loved one woman..." --Holy Shit It's powell 23:22, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Added a couple of images. Keep/move/delete as you wish. Looks good and I watched the series too. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 13:43, June 22, 2011 (UTC)
- Lesbians yay! Good work, I think we're close to having this beast finished. --Holy Shit It's powell 12:28, June 23, 2011 (UTC)
- I had some more revealing images but that would attract the NSFW tag. One other thing I was going to suggest is I think the first paragraph needs to be broken up a bit. A snappy start to attract a passing browser enough to carry on reading. Thomas Hardy will now take part in the Novel Writing Competition. He dips his pen in the ink..and he's off. 'A Sat.... --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:36, June 23, 2011 (UTC)
- I've taken your advice and I like it. Incidentally, if you can think of any good categories for the article, feel free to add them on. Holy Shit It's powell 13:44, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

A Thank You[edit source]
Credit here to Seanzoz for his wonderful Youtube Game of Thrones parodies (Episode One here). I've used a still from episode two, I hope he doesn't mind...--Holy Shit It's powell 16:42, June 23, 2011 (UTC)
And We're Done[edit source]
I think it's time to mainspace the fuck out of this bitch. Thanks to Romartus, TKF and Socky for their help. Thanks to George R.R. Martin and HBO, as well, for making the series so amazing (but still highly mockable). --Holy Shit It's powell 09:59, June 25, 2011 (UTC)
