Whoops! Maybe you were looking for GX?
The XG logo. Oh wait...

Opera GX (Sdrawkcab: XG) is a "K-pop" girl group whose members are actually from Japan. The group contains seven members: Jurin, Chis-A, Hinata Hyuga, Juria (who is Jurin's twin, mind you), Kakuna, MAY-A, and Steve Harvey. All of their songs are entirely in English. So, logically, if XG is a K-pop group, their members are Japanese and they sing in English, then they can't be considered a K-pop group. IT'S ALL A LIE!!!!!

Name[edit | edit source]

The group's name comes from the web browser Opera GX. The web browser Opera actually sponsors the group, so it's just the "GX" part but backwards.

Career[edit | edit source]

2022-present: Debut[edit | edit source]

On January 25, 2022, Opera and Avex decide to create a new girl group inspired by the successes of Blackpink and Twice. They would begin teasing a new group through covers that the members did. They actually made their debut on March 18 of the same year with their song "Preppy Clothes", which, obviously, is in English. Another English-language song, "Eyeshadow" was released. Their rap cyphers seem to get virality every time they do one. Other singles from them that were released in 2023 include "Counting Stars", "Up Down" and "Gang Gang". They will have released their debut EP, New New in September 2023.

Musical style[edit | edit source]

XG's music isn't like any K-pop group. They combine genres such as R&B, hip hop, pop, hyperpop, future bass, experimental pop, art pop, kawaii future bass, dubstep, two step, jungle, breakbeat, industrial pop and more genres into their songs. But it's all about hyperpop. All of their songs are in English, not Korean or Japanese. Very weird, right?

Yeah, it is too obvious if you listen to their songs.
