Forum:Possible Big Change For UnNews?
I think a News-in-Brief section for UnNews would be rather nice. Not all ideas can be fleshed out to five paragraphs, and for all jokes that seem to go on too long, this would be a lifesaver. Any thoughts? --SirIsaac 01:55, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- This has never ever been suggested in the history of Uncyclopedia. -- 02:15, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

We should have a news ticker like all the big stations. ~

- Except that we would always need new jokes. Constantly. -- §. | WotM | PLS | T | C | A 03:50, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- News-in-brief sounds like when the News Anchorman forgot to wear his pants and gives the news in his underwear (briefs) behind his desk. Just remember that funny one liners become UnDictionary, that went so well didn't it? --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 04:31, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- These don't have to be one liners. I was imagining something more like one-paragraph news stories. --SirIsaac 18:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Like the Onion? Personally, I'd prefer that people put the thought in to finishing a page, rather than just writing a synopsis. But that's just me. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 00:13, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with you, but I also think that little news blurbs could have their place. I also think it may be an easier way for noobs to get involved and practice their writing till they get confident enough to write main space articles. Just a thought. --OptyC Sucks! CUN 00:46, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- We have a system like that called writing the articles in your user space. I just hope that news-in-brief doesn't get QVFD or VFD too often and clutter up those pages like the short articles usually do. Besides don't we have an adopt a noob program to help noobs write better and isn't that what talk pages are for anyway? --Lt. Sir Orion Blastar (talk) 02:38, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- You can hardly teach a noob to write well. Most uncyclopedians aren't writing teachers. We link to HTBFANJS and help out with editing questions, maybe give suggestions on pages. But, for a tricky little thing like writing humor, only experience can make a mediocre writer good. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon (Tick Tock) (Contribs) 03:41, Apr 3
- I'm not really talking about teaching noobs to write, I'm thinking more about helping them feel involved. It's all well and good to tell them to write in their user space, but I think it's pretty obvious that that's just not as fulfilling. A section of short blurbs could be helpful in letting noobs feel like there's somewhere they can contribute without the pressure of writing a fuller article. I'm not saying quality be damned, but I think a place for shorter articles could be useful and I think this would be an appropriate way to do it. Of course, I'm sure these arguments have all been made before so take them as you will. --OptyC Sucks! CUN 17:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I can only speak from my own personal experience, but I didn't do any UnNews' pages until I'd been here for several decades. Most of my early days here were spent tinkering with existing pages. I suspect that's how it is with most people, as long as those people are exactly like me. A clone army, in other words. In still more other words, a clone army of nerds. On a side note: you've convinced me of whateveritwas you that you were trying to, and I'm now for a "UnNews Briefs" (longer than the "in the news" section on the mainpage, but not as long as a standard UnNews*) of some form inside the UnNews page. (* On a side, side note: you do know that there's no set minimum length for UnNews', right? As long as it's more than "Barney Underbotomz suxZ!"...) Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:43, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

The UnNews Front Page...
Is a disgusting, trash-filled, ugly, smelly, horrid, embarrassing, childish, crude, disorganized, terribly insulting piece of shit in my humble opinion. --EMC [TALK] 23:38, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. Except for this cartoon. -- 04:07, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

An Election Center
Why don't we have an election center for this years civil war that might be a little off topic but I think we should have one and it is a big change.--Scott 01:02, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, not a bad idea. It would help establish our... um, legitimacy as a news service. Heh. "Legitimacy." --SirIsaac 01:12, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well I started on it at:UnNews:UnDemoracy '08 it's not much but I just wanted to get it started tonight. I'll try working on it a lot tomorrow(I would of gotten done if I didn't mess up the title image--Scott 04:29, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
