So, Since my previous redesign of the UnNews mainpage, it's been getting a bit long in the tooth, Wikinews have significantly revamped theirs and have benefitted from a much cleaner layout with improved functionality and less maintenance, the existing UnNews page also has a fair amount of disorganized clutter.

So, now I can proudly unveil the new UnNews Beta page - please play with it and test it and if there's any bugs/shite that needs fixing, post a reply. On a wholly unrelated and personal note, I frankly dislike the direction the UnNews page has been taken in since I redesigned it; it's been getting consistently more cluttered which is not a good thing by any standard; you offer a user too many avenues to travel down and they become overwhelmed and it has a negative effect -- Prof. Olipro KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. Um, where is the weather?

 Nom & For...: {{compartmentalizing the different sub-widgets}} of UnNews so the parts can be pulled into each of the different "front pages." (This way Uncyclopedia can have 3+ newspapers at the cost and production of one.) Then each user can bookmark and use the one they like best. Gert, I wasn't aware of your layout's existence when I got mine done, however, having looked at your design, I would call it more of a hackup of my original design. I should reiterate again that the original design of UnNews I made in 2006 was based on the design Wikinews had at that time. This hackup of the current layout is looking very cluttered, and the sections, whilst not a bad idea, the implementation of it is completely anathema to what I would call a clean layout.

As far as maintaining the sections goes, they could very easily be inserted into the countries setion of the beta page (and/or the line below that) -- Prof. Olipro KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. (Harass) 23:10, July 31, 2010 (UTC)

I also want to add that this new design makes UnNews low-maintenance: whenever someone creates a new UnNews article it is automatically included in the Latest News list, lead articles are of course still added manually and this is always the way it should be since quality articles have to be cherrypicked anyway, you wouldn't automate that. -- Prof. Olipro KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. I suspect you were looking at it while I was playing with it, open it up and do a Ctrl+Refresh and see if it's better, if not, please take a screenshot so I can see it and/or use www.browsershots.org (make sure you specify your actual resolution and enable javascript) -- Prof. Olipro KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur.
