Sure VFD works well but recently I've seen a lot of stuff on there that probably shouldn't be on VFD. VFD is really for junk composed of shite ideas and unfunniness, not things with a good concept but not carried out so well. There seems to be a turn to nominating not-so-shitty articles for deletion as all the shitty ones are being QVFD'd instantly. Sure democracy works this out but it causes a lot of hassle if people can't decide - if you don't know whether it should be deleted it should be kept. --Sir DJ ~ Irreverent OZ! Well, that's really why it's "Vote for Deletion." What one person thinks should be deleted, another might not think. That's also why articles tend to be kept with a lower keep count threshold, as well as articles lasting longer and having more chance of being kept if there are only a couple keep votes, despite whether there may be a lot of delete votes. There's also the magical number five for deletions. I've seen a lot of articles getting nommed recently that probably shouldn't be as well, but I mean, we have the space on VFD, and if it doesn't belong, if the right number of people think it should stay, it usually does. -RAHB 14:14, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree with RAHB on all points except for this "magical number five" nonsense. When I was The Dude At VFD, I passed judgment based on the size of the vote boxes. It worked great. *sigh* -- The Zombiebaron 14:29, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Maybe that's how it works. I dunno. All I know about VFD, I learned from a five minute "what's this button do?" session with some other admins in IRC. I guess we agreed on five as the delete number, and my own personal keep number is four, less if a lot of time has gone by. -RAHB 14:37, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Ahh! Forget all this common sense nonsense! Let's just delete the buggers! Burn her! Bun her! She's a witch! She's a witch! Where is the ducking stool? ... Um, I'm fine now thank you Susan... I have (mostly) finished my mission of cleaning up short pages so there will probably be a few longer articles appearing on VFD rather than just all the stubs I was posting. Anyway... Why am I here? On the one hand, democracy is the highest ideal that Man has yet achieved. On the other, democracy simply does not work. This is because Man is dumb. Did you know that The touch eachother song almost got deleted? It had six delete votes and no keep votes. I read it, and was all "WTF? Lol! Etc!" and voted to keep. Others followed my brave example. You people suck. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:30, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Well now you're an admin, if an article you like is deleted, you're free to abuse process by waiting a while then restoring it. Maybe add a bit here and there. Lucky uncyc isn't a democracy. Spang talk 06:18, 18 Aug 2008
