penis metaphors "hanging" in Mhaille's "closet"

Ideas? Ideas.

  1. This has very little to do with penises or penii.
  2. Put "votes for highlight" at the top of the community box. Why? So that it's the first thing anybody sees. Instead of being down near the bottom, where it's likely to be forgotten.
  3. CONTROVERSIAL: in the community box, link to a random featured article a la {{Unrelatedarticle}}. Like, it would look something like this:

I'd like to see more penis. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
I'd like to see more vazyin. ~ ★ БурекСП ★★ талк ★★ контриб ★ 00:23, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
OH LOL LOL LOL LOL etc.   Le Cejak <0:26, 25 Jun 2008>
  1. That's good.
  2. That's bad. VFH is not the most important thing, it doesn't need to be the most important link. Next thing you know, VFH will be above the main page link, because hey, main page gets enough views already.
  3. That's impossible. Spang talk 02:33, 25 Jun 2008

As I understand it, it's the sound of your own death. Goodbye, Mister Balloonderson. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 23:44, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
The community box should have more links to Spang of the Month. Also, it needs a link to my house keys. This will help me to find them. Other than that, I like the box, and the order of the things therein (even Community Portal, which sounds like a multiplayer game of some sort. I would check to make sure, but I'm not supposed to click any links). Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 03:29, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
You're also not supposed to come within 200 yards of my home, but yet again I find a familiar face print (at least I hope its a face print) on my bedroom window this morning. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
I don't like the idea, not so mcuh an issie of restraining orders which has been flagged up, but the emphasis on VFH or any more of it--Sycamore (Talk) 13:22, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

I go back and forth on this, but I think the link to "Random page" often just makes us look bad. If that button went to a random featured article, that might not be such a bad idea. --Hyperbole 14:18, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

I think of the random page button less of something for the readers and more of a tool for us editors personally. I regularly used to find VFDable crap and articles that could use some formatting help or spellchecking through that button...Ahh good times...Wait, yeah, so I don't agree with a Random Featured Article button at all BonSig.png (Bonner) (Talk) Jun 26, 14:27
Well, it wouldn't be hard for editors to stick a Random page button on their userpage if they wanted that functionality. --Hyperbole 14:33, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
True, and I could just plug 'Special:Random' into the search bar if I wanted, but still, I like the convenience of the button. Also a 'Random featured article' button would give readers a controlled view of Uncyc, rather than showing everything we have. Besides, we already have a 'Featured Content' button, if they want featured content, then they can just press that. BonSig.png (Bonner) (Talk) Jun 26, 14:48
That's kind of exactly my point. "Showing everything we have" is kind of like Roseanne Barr showing everything she has. Sometimes a controlled view is... merciful. --Hyperbole 15:09, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Best. Analogy. Ever. Not that it matters, though, I think we've tried to get a 'random FA' button before, but couldn't for some reason. Go figure. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon.gif(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 17:15, Jun 26
I don't see why we can't have both a link to a random page, and a link to a random FA. Both would be useful. Back in the day, before I contributed here (Otherwise known as last month) I used to check things out, and I didn't really know how to get to the FA area. Showing people who don't know what we are all about some of the best we have to offer might make good writers more likely to join. I personally joined because I read UnBooks:My New Life as a T-Rex, it made me laugh, and I wanted to make articles that would do the same. But I still think the random page link is good too. Always a good place to go for editing, and sometimes getting a pretty funny but unknown article. The Woodburninator (woodtalk) (woodstalk) 03:22, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
May I suggest, without giving my opinion on the actual topic of the conversation, that welcomers link to Uncyclopedia:Best of in their welcome templates? That way, new users are at least a little better exposed to what we like to see on the site, and get an easier idea of what they should be writing. -RAHB 03:28, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
May I suggest, without adding anything relevant to the conversation whatsoever, everyone give me a dollar? That way, I can buy happiness? --MegaPleb Dexter111344 Complain here 04:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
