It's here. Let loose the dogs of war.

I think we ought to have another burninator week. This time, in addition to shooting down cruft on sight, we should also shoot down vanity (to provide a clean slate for the Absolutely No Vanity Allowed policy). We had one about a year ago, and I think we could use another round of spring cleaning.

I'm in if you make me an admin... however, no-one wants to do that as I'll delete half the wiki, send one-fith to ED, send a quarter to Wikipedia and VFD the rest... ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 19:57, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh, but by the time you're done baleeting rubbish, instead of us desperately needing one of these, all twenty-two language wikis (plus meta and info) will suddenly fit quite easily fit onto this. --Carlb 10:44, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I've already started. My week should last until the middle of August, although I will take some vacation days. I'm currently working on a list of things which should have been NRV'd a year ago, except for the problem of us not having NRV back then. If it's completely meritless, but pretty old, add it to the list at User:Famine/Pages to be Deleted. But only if it's completely worthless. I'll tackle the orphans at some point too, or if people have some free time, list them at the same place. Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 20:32, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Even though I'm completely insignificant, I agree. Mounds of crap articles, vanity, entire unfunny sections (See: Ligature). I don't know the exact rules on what's deleted on a burninator week, but whatever, we could stand to cut down on the crap. --Sir ENeGMA (talk) GUN WotM PLS 20:36, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Go ahead. Just try not to leave too many red links. Right now, there are red links everywhere, even on the main page. --Sbluen 17:30, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
  • AF-FIR-MA-TIVE!!! It's been too long coming. I'm only sorry that I can't officially join in on the wholesale slaughter. Nevertheless, I can continue to scour the "New Pages/Recent Changes/Short Pages" etc. categories for likely targets, if I may. --The King In Yellow (Talk to the Dalek.) 18:26, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Alrighty then, I'd say that's a convincing vote. Time to make it official, with a notice on the frontpage and everything, just like last year. So whoever organized that type of stuff last time (RC?), if you could do so again? -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 23:45, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

T'wasn't me. One thing I think we need before we kick it off is a temporary page for regular users to nominate stuff for speedy deletion, sort of like a mix between QVFD (with no or little voting, leaving the deletion to the discretion of the nominator and deleter, mostly) and VFD (because it'd be for articles that are higher quality than QVFD while still being bad). I don't know how well it would work, but that in combination with the Forest Fire Week's traditional Random Page Shoot-On-Sight...well, the carnage could be huge. —rc (t) 00:15, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and somebody's got to design a more aesthetically pleasing template that the old one. —rc (t) 00:17, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
We've got one set up here....looks mighty fine to me.... -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

OK. I approve the forest fire week. But, please remember to edit too :P --Chronarion 01:09, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

By "edit" you mean "NRV tag" of course. ;-) -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 10:51, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Should we not create new articles durring this week? I've got an article about half done that I'll probably finish up in the next day or two. Should I hold it off till the end of the week? --DrObvious 03:33, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

No no! New articles are welcome (so long as they're good ;) ). This is just sort of a intensive, general cleanup for the past year or so. —rc (t) 03:37, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Good? Hmm..... I didn't realize that was a requirement...--DrObvious 04:40, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Edit conflicts

Almost every time I wait 5 seconds, someone else adds something and there is an edit conflict. Can we do something about that, like dividing the page into sections, which everyone will add to randomly. --Sbluen 03:54, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

I divided it into three sections. That should help somewhat. —rc (t) 04:01, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
