UFFL Update Story[edit source]

Ah, slightly passed mid-season: the time of year when experts begin to prematurely dish out tentative first-58%-of-season MVPs and other awards. The UFFL is no different. Here’s this author’s MVP, among other things.

MVP: Drew Brees, QB, Sternensteinenstine. Though as of right now there are two other players with more fantasy points, no QB has helped their team more in the Win-Loss bracket than Drew Brees has for the good ol’ Nazis. It’s no surprise that Sternensteinenstine’s one loss this season came during a week Brees didn’t throw a TD pass.

Defensive Player of the Year: New Orleans, DEF, Oklahoma City Storm. Right now, New Orleans’ D is Storm’s third-highest-scoring player, right behind their starting quarterback and starting running back. No other defense even comes close.

Comeback Player of the Year: Chad Pennington, QB, FA. One might think that awarding a comeback player of the year in the first year of a league’s existence doesn’t make much sense. These people are wrong. This award clearly belongs in the hands of Chad Pennington, who had a mediocre start to the season before getting knocked out the remainder of the year with a shoulder injury, thereby allowing the somewhat-more-fantasy-viable-though-not-by-much Chad Henne to take his place.
