Forum:Uncycloversity
As many of you know, the folks at Wikipedia have been building an incredibly dumb and misguided thing called Wikiversity, which they're probably hoping will threaten the very fabric of traditional edumacation throughout the world. So in response, I've just finished setting up Uncycloversity, which is even dumber and more misguided, but has pretty much the same amount of content. Their version is still in "beta," of course, whereas such a concept is largely meaningless here... So technically, we're first out of the starting-block once again!
This area still needs more material, such as (just off the top of my head):
- Articles that are written as courses, with pop quizzes, exams, and so on. (There's no requirement to put "Uncycloversity:" before the titles of such articles.)
- Dare I say more celebrity-instructor course offerings, along the lines of this and this?
- Phony documents and other pages that a typical university website would have, in the same vein as this one.
- More options for Uncycloversity:RandomSlogan (Wikiversity is doing a contest for their slogan, but hey, they suck.)
- A sports-team name and a mascot, suitable for use on T-Shirts and other quality merchandise. (See poll below)
- As many entries on this web site as we can get away with (note: this will be extremely difficult to pull off, if not impossible).
- Comments and suggestions (below, or on my talk page if you're embarrassed to be seen in public).
Maybe it won't amount to anything here any more than it will on Wikipedia/Wikiversity, but I guess we have to continue to kick their sorry asses anyway, or at least try, if only for the sake of appearances.

Suggested Team Names
Feel free to add your own suggested names, but please don't change any that have already been voted on, yada yada yada (that apparently messes everything up, sorry)
I guess we can leave the poll open indefinitely (is there even a way to close them, without actually deleting them from the page?)... But with 31 votes and well over half for "Fighting Sophias," I'd say we probably have a winner - or at least enough of one to start on a mascot graphic, suitable for inkjet-printing onto iron-on sheets, for clothing and such. I/we could upload the graphics as SVG's, really big JPG's, or both... - I thought about that, but ultimately I decided it looked too much like we'd just left the "i" out of "University" by mistake. And since the letter "I" is easy to miss (visually) anyway, it didn't strike me as funny enough to overcome the advantage "Uncycloversity" has, namely that it's instantly identifiable with Uncyclopedia on other sites that might someday link to it. - There's no "I" in team. As a compromise, the name "Uncyclovers_ty" would be unpopular with everyone.

Admittedly, this sort of land-rush to obtain deanships isn't something I was expecting, but I guess we'd just need a Faculty/Staff Directory page, or something to that effect. Why not? Everyone can just add themselves to the list under whatever title they want... UnDegrees
We need some UnDegrees to pass out here. AAS = Annoying Asinine Shit, BS = Bullshit, MBS = More Bullshit, PDH = Piled Higher and Deeper. That way we can add them to the names of graduates and what degrees they earned with a link to the description of the degrees. Some people might have to graduate with honors. We should also form student UnClubs, a student UnNewspaper, have UnSports teams, and give out UnScholarships. --Lt. Orion Blastar (talk) 04:56, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
