Is there any place to put in a request for new articles? I'm a clueless n00b and I don't know if there's something I've overlooked. Good Hand 04:23, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Generally if you want an article you either make it yourself, or you spam a whole bunch of red links to it until it ends up here. --monika 04:39, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, that sounds like a good idea. I'll just keep adding redlinks to Numberwang until somebody makes a page on Numberwang. Good Hand 04:46, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
I didn't mean to suggest it was a good idea, just that it's generally what people do when they want an article and don't want to write it themselves. --monika 04:49, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
That's a pretty obscure thing, It'll probably not get written as too few people will get it. I'm not writing it cos I doubt it's a good place to start with an article. SK Sir Orian57Talk Gay flag.jpg RotM 04:53 13 September 2008
Hi. Welcome to Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia that you can ask anyone else to edit. That doesn't sound right... Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 11:54, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia works when someone is inspired to write an article. It's not like Wikipedia, where people can just randomly take on the task of researching a redlinked article. If you have an idea for Numberwang, feel free to start it or even work on it in your userspace. You can't force someone to have inspiration. :)  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 04:55 Sep 13, 2008

Skull, there's something I think you should have a look at... --monika 05:01, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
(Also, I would like to apologize to everyone for assuming good faith. As Skullthumper said, this is not like wikipedia...) --monika 05:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, sorry guyz. I'm not good at writing articles, and I thought getting the name out there might help me find a collaborator. Good Hand 19:05, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, a collab eh? That's a bit of a different matter. Have you got a concept for the article?  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 22:53 Sep 13, 2008

Numberwang? Pah! Why not pick a gameshow that everyone's heard of?

Feelyat! Obviously. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 12:08, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

it took me a while to understand this was a parody. but it was actually hillarious despite the fact I didn't understand the language. SK Sir Orian57Talk Gay flag.jpg RotM 13:07 13 September 2008
What? NO Human Tetris? No ph33r.

@Orian - It may be in a different language, but it was made for an English-speaking audience. Canadian-speaking, anyway. --monika 16:21, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Ah I see! so you weren't really meant to understand. Funny stuffs! SK Sir Orian57Talk Gay flag.jpg RotM 17:11 13 September 2008
And I'm not even sure Dutch speakers would have any easier a time understanding it than we would. "Der Nederlander foots choir" probably isn't the Queen's Dutch. (I think Holland is a constitutional monarchy, but I can't be fucked to check.) --monika 21:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
The easiest way to kill comedy is to over analyze it. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:10, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
But this is Uncyclopedia! It's what we do! --monika 21:12, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh. My bad. My theory is that it plays on the way that foreign rules don't necessarily translate locally. Gameshows, which by their very nature are inherently rule-bound, are a good example. The garish sets and flashing lights help. As such, gameshows stick out in a comedic manner. They also "compress" well for a seven minute skit, as the entire setup as well as the backstory are built in to the set and the opening credits. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:04, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Thats not strictly true, many Gameshows we have over here aim very differetly - often our lottery shows have gameshow themes, however the object is non comedic and the shows format is contrary to its purpose, similalry The weakest Link aims for a very different effect to any other gameshow. Reality shows often seek to shock and amuse and seem to state very different intentions though set and presentation, blind Date is a classic example, its actually quite sad masochistic and cruel, whilst attempting a warm and fuzzy and amusing exterior. — Sir Sycamore (talk) 22:16, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
And that conflicts with "My theory is that it plays on the way that foreign rules don't necessarily translate locally" how, exactly? I'm not saying that all foreign gameshows are automatically funny. The Weakest Link, both straight (which we got here as localized versions of the same format) and as parody, sucked. And since you mentioned reality-tv; they, too, are rule-bound. The disconnect that makes them easy to spoof comes from their gameshow genes, as well as the artificial "set" for "unscripted" social interaction.
Even local gameshows still have the artificial ruleset and, generally, flashing lights and hyped-up delivery. It's just funnier with an accent. Everything is. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:30, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
