Forum:March 2021 Proposals
I have 3 ideas, JJPMaster has 4. One is huffing all interstates, one is introducing draftspace, one is implementing partial blocks. No partial voting. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 19:01, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- If you would like to add proposals, please do so. But you can only have up to ten (10) votes, so choose wisely. Mini forums don't count for the ten, and abstains also don't count (as in 10 for and against votes combined). Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Gale5050's proposals
Huffing most interstates
There is a short list of articles that are exempt from this, you can add one if you feel they are good.
- Interstate
- Interstate 95
- UnNews:I-95 exits in Massachusetts changing(UnNews, barely interstate article)
- For. They are pretty bad, and therefore any ones good enough can stay. All the other ones are going to be in VFD some day.
- For. But why is the UnNews exempts? MrX 19:47, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- It's borderline an interstate article, and overall not really that "sucky interstate type". It's borderline an interstate article, and it's better then most. We should leave out some interstates, so therefore the UnNews is exempt. If you really want to remove it, go right ahead, but I'd prefer to just discuss it here and reach an agreement. - For. Most of them have little redeeming value. ~ HipponiasCUN - Talk - Contribs - Articles 20:48, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Exempting the UnNews

Discussion from above continuing here, this will close in 24 hrs as it's a mini-forum, at 20:00, 27 March 2021. This is only part of the proposal
- For. Barely an interstate, modest. Would likely survive VFD if nominated. Also, it would cause an ugly redlink on Interstate 95, as it is linked from that article. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 20:13, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Exempt articles in user space?
- For. An article in user space shouldn't be huffed due to a mass delete-forum. It should only apply to mainspace articles. -Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 16:17, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Draftspace
This allows authors to draft up articles before being moved, similar to Wikipedia. We can also institute an AFC like Wikipedia.
- Against. People have userspaces, and AFC would require a script to be ported, and numerous templates. Also no active Uncyclopedian is an AFC reviewer I believe.
- (How do I randomly mention that I'm an AfC reviewer without sounding like vanity) JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 19:06, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- You're an AFC reviewer? Good. Way more work still needs to be done. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 19:09, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Also, you gonna vote? Though you are leaning slightly "for". Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 19:16, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

- Against. Unnecessary and creates more bureaucracy without really helping anything. MrX 19:49, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Against Use your userspace. -- The Zombiebaron 16:19, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Partial blocks
This is for up to 10 pages, namespace specific blocks are possible via Special:AbuseFilter/37
- For. If a user is only vandalizing India and making good contributions to California, why block them from both? Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 19:01, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Against The reason we block them from both is because they are a vandal. -- The Zombiebaron 16:21, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- I know what you're saying, but sometimes, one person could be vandalizing India, while at the other time, they could be making significant, constructive contributions. I guess a better example could be if someone was constantly breaking templates on China, but was making helpful contributions on Maine. That's a case when they're not a vandal. I hope you understand, Zombie. -Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 17:36, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- Against. Vandalizers are Vandalizers. WohMi, the Dueling King (talk) 17:47, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- I guess I should qualify. It's not necessarily for vandalizers, but maybe edit warring. If someone is edit warring on one page, no need to block them from all. Thats how WP does it and it should be done here as well. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 17:54, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- inb4 someone comes in here and says "Gale, stop trying to make Uncyclopedia like Wikipedia," Gale, stop trying to make Uncyclopedia like Wikipedia. Just because we're a parody of them doesn't mean that we should be the same. WohMi, the Dueling King (talk) 18:25, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

JJPMaster's proposals
Abuse filter maintainer user group
Creating a user group with abusefilter-modify, abusefilter-view-private, abusefilter-log-private, titleblacklistlog, managechangetags, and deletechangetags would be... interesting?
- Against. No. No no no no no no. Any user with that amount of trust needed should just be at VFS. All these issues would be solved when you are admin. No need to pester our sysadmin when it could very easily be done at VFS in April. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 19:37, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- For. This can be useful and helpful here. MrX 19:49, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'll be willing to vote for, if on the condition you'd have to run for it in a forum/VFS, and you can't just ask an admin. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 20:17, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

- Against The AbuseFilter is a very very powerful tool and should require an elected position. -- The Zombiebaron 16:23, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- My original idea was to make the right be a, well, elected position, not just one that you can request from an admin. JJPMaster 17:49, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- Still against. Because at that point, you have enough trust where you should just run at VFS. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 17:53, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

browsearchive
browsearchive
is a user right that allows people to search for deleted pages; I believe it should be added to the thumbsucker user group.
- Abstain. It could be useful, but they could just see it and click the
view
button. This I will be neutral. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 19:39, 26 March 2021 (UTC) - For Sure, sounds fine. -- The Zombiebaron 16:24, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- For. Absolutely. I often come across pages that were previously deleted, and while the older versions were deleted, I feel that the wreckage could be salvaged and reused to make newer, better updated articles. WohMi, the Dueling King (talk) 18:27, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
A few MediaWiki extensions
I'd like to propose installing Extension:SandboxLink and Extension:TemplateStyles, because I don't think that they would be very controversial additions (one just adds a link to your personal toolbar, and the other just makes it easier to embed CSS code).
(sandbox)
(templatestyles)

- MrX, if you don't change your vote, I will count this as .5 vote, even though partial voting isn't allowed, since you only voted for 1 option. As of this edit, you are at 4.5 votes. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 20:18, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

PageTriage
This is a separate extension better known as Page Curation; it shows a toolbar that allows you to tag pages for problems, mark them as patrolled, and nominate them for deletion, all while having an easy to navigate interface for viewing the most recently created pages (called the New Pages Feed) that automatically identifies articles as possible spam or vandalism. We would need to tweak it to get it to work here, but it would be quite fun!
- Oppose Until Twinkle is installed here. It will require too much work. Gale5050 aka Andrew5 let's talk! See me on WP! Do not click before August 19:40, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Against. Seems like it adds a lot of unnecessary stuff without a significant benefit. MrX 19:54, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
