did an article for da foo'

hope you like it. but why are the cards sooooo small? did you know that unc. will resize bigger pics to thumbnails when you use the proper formatting? --Marcos_Malo S7fc | Talk 02:19, 10 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Hey! Sadly, I don't know of any way to do the sort of file transfer you are talking about without using FTP, and then I'm not sure if it's possible because of different sites set ups. If both sites had anonymous FTP where images could be up or down loaded, this would do it. So, all we have is the wiki client interface, and doing things one at a time (as far as I know).

second, when I want to do something I see on another article, I usually look at the mechanics of that article by going to the edit page. Sometimes I'll just copy and paste to the page I'm working on, and then insert my own info.

Here is an example of how to make a thumbnail from a bigger picture: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=>>>>

Look at it in edit mode.

One last tip. To quickly sign your name and have it be a link to your user page, type --~~~~ That's two - followed by four ~ .

I have dabbled in the arcane a little; enough to be able to make fun of it. At least, so I hope. --Marcos_Malo S7fc | Talk 03:27, 10 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Shameless promotion of each other

We should nominate each other for the Uncyclopedia:Noob_of_the_Month award. The winner gets a link on the front page*, which means more people reading your stuff. (*although this is one of the "prizes", it's never awarded). I'm going to go ahead and nominate you. --Marcos_Malo S7fc BOotS | Talk 23:30, 10 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Tarot

Dude, you're really going nuts with that tarot thing. Are you planning on making a link article for each card? --Marcos Malo 09:19, 8 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Astrology

Thanks for moving the Signs of the Zodiac page to Astrology. I've wanted to move it for ages but I wasn't sure how to go about it and I'm too lazy. Plus, now that it's mentioned in the village dump, it's getting a few more hits than normal. Thanks very much. User:Aswdodge

Hey Ogopogo, thanks for letting me finish. I didn't have as concrete an idea for the Flight of Fancy as I did the Train of Thought, so I laid out the basics. Feel free to add/edit away. -Hellsfruition

If you want something deleted that you made yourself as a test (or something that someone else made that is spam/slandanity/etc and not worth VFD), you can just put it on QVFD. --Splaka 06:47, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Do you mind if

Would you mind if I were to add information and make some changes, so as to integrate Christmas Island into the The Yuletide Testament a little more directly? - Thanks, Rossangeles 9-22-05 5:27 PM.

Hi Rossangeles ... I don't see any reason or desirability for changes to the Christmas Island article to "integrate" it into your series. The article's concept, as written, is intended to be different from the concept in your series, although there may be some coincidental similarities. As far as I'm concerned, the article is fine as it presently is, and such harmonization wouldn't make it any better or more humourous. This is uncyclopedia, not wikipedia; pages' facts don't need to and don't have to jive. By the way, I noticed you edited the article to add your category. I was thinking of reverting that edit so that would-be editors don't mistakenly think that the article is part of the series' concept.

--Ogopogo 04:04, 23 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Sounds good to me - I added it because of the link is all, so no problem on my end and I hope I didn't step on your toes. I defer to you in this and all things related to you and yours. Rossangeles.

The White Album

Ogopogo,

Sorry to bother you but I was wondering, as my last edit to the page neither displayed an image and added an internal link, if was another way to add a link or is the page meant to be on the Dead-end pages ? If so you might want to put a notice on the text of the article or its talk page. 70.88.222.77 20:50, 17 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Merge

Hi I did the merge of the USA article because it had a merge template on it. But I'm not sure how I missed putting the michael jackson one in the right article. thanks for fixing that up Astrokey44 07:56, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Canadian User Template

I've asked Paulgb aboot it. There were 5 templates, I deleted the redundant one, though it still seems like there are too many. One is funny, maybe two if there is good reason, but 4 seemed excessive.

What do you have against the canaba flag? The one I used for the US one has little Nazi symbols instead of stars (though you can't easily tell on the small version). I'm for poking fun at the country in question...

I could restore it, but there is another identical template that could do the job (I think it's CanadianUserSmug). Dawg.gif » Brig Sir Dawg | t | v | c » 00:05, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Dawg ... Thanks for the heads-up about the CanadianUserSmug template. That one does the trick. I've changed over to that one. Thanks. --Ogopogo 00:50, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Unless UN is in danger of running out of space, I don't see the harm in having a few templates to choose from. I just made the new ones, and they are already in use by 3 people plus myself. Canadian_User was a dupe, incorrectly named, so thanks for deleting it. Anyway, I really just didn't appreciate the cannabis logo, or the self deprecating slogan (especially in comparison to the very patriotic AmericanUser template with the unobvious (is that a word?:) swastikas. Hockey seemed like a better logo, and the riff on health care seemed right. The Hockey and Coke temp could get killed. I only made it as a tie-in to the Canadian Revolution article. -- T. VulcanUser Template

I edited the picture size because on my screen (1024x768) your Spock picture extends down below the bottom of the box by ~5mm. I edited the horizonal length because there was a lot of empty space in the box relative to actual content. If you want to leave the length so it matches my Smug template, I understand, but I'm wondering if other people looking at your Vulcan template are seeing the same picture/border collision that I do. The collision is more obvious under Firefox than Konqueror (where the picture only touches the bottom border, but the horizontal size is no longer the same as the Smug template). -- T. (talk) 13:00, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Todd ... I just have a Microsoft browser, so I couldn't code the Spock template so that it works for Firefox, Konqueror, etc. As long as you leave the length of the Spock template so that it continues to match the length of the Canadian user 'smug' template, please modify the Spock image's size and Vulcan template's height so it works for your test browsers. Thanks. --Ogopogo 13:27, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Done. The old width of 75px was fine for landscape-oriented pix like the Flag, but for a portrait like your Spock picture, it was too much. With some experimentation, I settled with 60px, and left all the other settings (box size) alone as you requested. -- T. (talk) 05:23, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)
If you swaped it to a table instead of a div, it should contain the image. --Splaka 05:32, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Albuquerque

Why was the article on Albuquerque deleted? It was hilarious!

Nora ... Per your message, I'm restoring the article Albuquerque and have put it onto User:Nora/wip. When you fix it up to non-delete standards, feel free to move it to Albuquerque location. The existing text is overly random and formulaic. e.g., "X was invented in y by z". I suggest you read HTBFANJS. --Ogopogo 22:00, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

tada

User:Ogopogo/ring --> {{User:Ogopogo/ring}} It could be meta-ized to make the code a lot smaller, but that would require two templates. Bah ^_^ --Splaka 09:43, 22 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Splaka, thanks. It's cool. Now I have a mood ring to tell me what mood I'm in. I've put it on my user page quickly but will rearrange location tonight. --Ogopogo 13:27, 22 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your vote on my behalf for NotM, but more, thanks for being patient and understanding with me as I've found my way around here. I appreciated your respectful forthtrightness in asking me about the changes I'd made to your Vulcan template some time ago. It makes me wonder if I would have stuck it out here had you done something punitive.  :) I think you have a good hand with n00bs, so I owe a bit of this award to you. -- T. tl;dr

why was Category:TL;DR deleted? --Willy on wheels! 18:27, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Because nobody would know what the letters TD:DR stand for and would be forced to click on the category name only to find it's a silly category with the one article and telling you not to read that article. Creates clutter to uncyc, work for the reader, and little if any funniness to warrant all the clutter and work. --Ogopogo 18:30, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)
tl;dr is a pretty common internet slang term ([1]) and it only had one article because you deleted it 2 seconds after I made it. Also, it's not "too long; don't read" it's "too long; didn't read". --Willy on wheels! 19:00, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Urban Dictionary (which you cite) has many entries; I don't think anyone knows every entry in it. Well, I'll add tl;dr to my trivia knowledge stockpile. Whether a long or a short name, I think the category is unnecessary and could lead to spamming. In any event, if such a category were to exist (under a long or a short name) what theme-organizational, administrative, or humouristic purpose would it serve? We already have administrative templates such as Incoherent (which you used on the Xhbiit article), Rewrite, Insane, vfd, qvfd, etc. We don't need a category for longish articles. And we really don't need a category for articles you don't personally find interesting - perhaps try article-Talk or user-Talk pages for that, or edit the article to make it more interesting or to insert headings and subheadings to make the article easier to read - Be bold within reason. If the article is really that bad, there are the aforementioned templates. If you wish to discuss it further, I suggest speaking with the admins on IRC or taking it up on Village Dump. --Ogopogo 21:04, 27 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Belarus

I think we have different ideas on what's funny and what's not. Since Uncyclopedia claims to be a parody site, I believe it should be composed of parody. Here's what the dictionary says on parody:

"...A literary or artistic work that imitates the characteristic style of an author or a work for comic effect or ridicule..."

As you can, it means to imitate in a comical sense. If you do not base your article on facts to some extent, it cannot be classified as parody. So Uncyclopedia cannot aim to parody and completely non-factualize at the same time. I've found many amusing articles on Uncyclopedia that makes subtle references to fact, but that obviously goes. If this website has to be utterly unfactual, please let me know and I'll stop submitting anything. If it however is intended for parodies and satire of factual elements, let me know. Because fact is, east Europe is a bordel for the western males.

Oscar Wilde however, has never ruled Belarus.

Tasteful Templates

"If you wish to see a colourful (which must also be tasteful) template for the Simpsons."
Hahahahahaha. You said tasteful for Uncyclopedia. Go back to Wikipedia, they love good taste there. The more it burns thine eyes the better it is for Uncyc. I can't revert war with you 'cuz you're an admin, but you most definitely don't belong here. Wiki Tiki God 11:28, 10 Dec 2005 (UTC)
And the Simpsons are

YELLOW

  1. If your reasoning were correct, Rcmurphy would have designed us a glowing orb of snot, rather than a puzzle potato.
  2. The template is for general use with any famous characters with the name Simpson, not just the animated ones.
  3. Telling an admin that they don't belong here is tantamount to slapping the faces of those that promoted him to the position.

-- T. (talk) 12:27, 10 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Agree with Todd. Templates should not be annoying colors. --Splaka 23:25, 10 Dec 2005 (UTC)
"If your reasoning were correct, Rcmurphy would have designed us a glowing orb of snot, rather than a puzzle potato."
Funny you should say that because I'm working on a template for over wikified admins called "the flicked booger award". It is (so far) for people who care about good taste and people who move one liners to UnDictionary. Don't yield to the dark side, resist the Wiki, lest you be mightily flicked upon! I third Splarka's suggestion to Wiki Tiki God. --Ogopogo 15:37, 11 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Three admins against me, I must be doing something right. All I've ever done is contribute. I've never blanked a page, or valdalized, I've only tried to help, and for my efforts I get flak from you all constantly. It's bad enough I have to patrol and defend my stuff from other submitters, but also from the 'taste and humour police'. The end result is that no one will ever want to waste thier time here, and all you will ever have is page blankers and vandals. I quit. If it were in my power I would delete every last article and submission I've every made here. You people don't deserve the efforts of anybody who actually tries.
