Hey Dawg, a little favor?
Hi Dawg,
I was wondering if it would be OK if you, or me, or somebody, could delete all that spew I wrote on User_Talk:Keitei? Pleeeeeze? I would just do it myself but I didn't know how you would take it. (The history will still be there if anyone really wants to see it, though I can't see why they would.) I was real drunk when I wrote it, and reading it back now I realize it's not only embarrassing, it could get me in trouble, maybe. After all, there can only be a finite number of guys who look like Brad Pitt, only much, much better, whose jobs were shiped off by somebody in the past year, and in fact I might even be the only one for all I know. So I would really appreciate it, big-time, and you would be my favorite person ever if that helps any.
As for me, don't worry, man! I'm actually better off now - I'm making just as much $$$, and I like what I'm doing better, even though it's a small company so I'm not as likely to become a rich corporate robber baron now. (Like I would've been anyway!)
And I've even been reading some more about Nerd42, who I see may very well read this crap too since it looks like he's right above it with some of his own. Apparently he doesn't consider himself a Mormon, but I really don't dislike Mormons as a group anyway. (Or anybody really.) The people in my neighborhood had some trouble with them when I was younger - please don't ask - but those were Utah Mormons, in Nauvoo, IL, so what the hell, maybe the Missouri ones are cooler? So Nerd42, if you're reading this, maybe there's hope for you and all, but you really, really, REALLY should not be such a prick when someone comes along and wants to take a needless line about gays out of an article you write. And when I say "prick," I mean putting the line back in and then changing it to "you'll be Super Gay" or whatever it said and telling everyone it's "vandalism." Like that word even means anything on Uncyclopedia, from what I gather. Anyway, I read the whole thing and that, in my ever-so-humble opinon, is the very definition of "prick." I'm deeply sorry, but that's just what I think. You may hate gays and all, but more hate is not what the world needs. (Italics mine) Actually, maybe the definition of "prick" would also be you calling up my former boss and telling him what I wrote here earlier, but I'll just have to live with that particular paranoid fantasy I guess.
Anyway, Dawg, thanks in advance, assuming you're OK with all that. --Wob 04:53, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- I'm continuing this chain of replying on other admin's talk pages. To be honest, I don't think anyone decent is gonna hold this against you, so it should be okay. From now on, though, it might be best to post sober, and unangry. I'd suggest removing your name at the very least and remove the company name if you're paranoid. BTW, Nerd's been a thorn in some of our sides for a while. We understand entirely.--Sir Flammable KUN (Na Naaaaa...) 05:02, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I'm getting used to the idea now that I post something to one guy's talk page and some completely different guy replies to it, but are you saying it's OK if I myself delete some or all of that stuff? Preferably all? That's a very beautiful thing if so, but I just want to make sure. And sorry i don't have a fancy sig or whatever that is, I just haven't gotten around to it yet I guess. Doing it tomorrow... --Wob 05:08, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

- Ping Keitei about it. If she's about I'll ask her to remove it. I don't mind. I don't like people deleting stuff from my talk page unless they ask me, but anyone can respond to the comments (especially admins). Flammable is an admin, Keitei is an admin, and I'm an admin - we often help each-other out when someone isn't on or doesn't feel up to responding.
- On your comment on Mormons: Utah mormons are far worse than mormons from other areas, so don't judge them all by some from Utah. Still, consider them on their own, not in a group, because there are definitely some really cool people that are mormons. The spinoff mormon groups are really freaking weird and secretive, though, so I can't say much about the RLDS, FLDS, the pliggy groups, the compound guys, etc. Chances are that the RLDS still believe in polygamy, but I don't know for sure. I know more about the main branch and some of the secretive groups, but it has little bearing because chances are you'll never meet one and know what they are. Suffice to say, most people and law enforcement avoid them because they don't have military backup.
- I also mirror Flammable's sentiments above. 13:45, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)

HTML
Sorry for messing up the HTML on the Uncyclopedia:Babel page, I didn't realize the HTML stuff was necessary. I'm still kinda confused actually, just what happens when I put the actual character in there instead of the HTML script? -- neoEva88 MUN F@H PS CM NS (talk.to-do)
- It's an HTML character code which is interpreted by the browser into the correct character in the local computer's character set. Things like "&" -> "&", for instance, are critical, while the bit in question is merely important for compatibility. I used it for a reason when I created the page. 01:29, 22 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Getting Seigenthaler to Acknowledge Us
Running a Google search on John Seigenthaler comes up with the USA Today article #1, and two wikipedia articles after that. Maybe we should set up some sort of google bomb type of thing if we want to get mr. seigenthaler's attention.Jsonitsac 12:38, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Bombing doesn't work very well anymore. A better approach would be getting in with some major humor blogger who links to us, thereby propogating the link out to other sites. That should bump our ranking up a number of notches. 20:26, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Canadian User template
Hi Dawg .... I noticed that you deleted the Canadian User template. That's the one I had on my profile. Any chance of getting it restored? I'm not keen about the other (i.e., CanadianUser with cannabis flag design) for a user page. I recall some other Canadian templates we had referring to hockey and I am not a hockey fan either. Thanks. --Ogopogo 23:09, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Dawg ... Thanks for the heads-up about the CanadianUserSmug template. That one does the trick. I've changed over to that one. Thanks. --Ogopogo 00:51, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Do Canadians really need 5 different Templates to make themselves feel marginal? Now down to 4 due to deleting one that looks identical to another. --Dawg +S OUN HoF Bur. PS [ TLK | VDP ] 23:07, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- Probably not. User:Todd Lyons created the rest of them. I like the hockey one myself, but I don't think it is neccisary to have more than one. We could even keep it down to one template and use {{CanadianUser|choose your own tagline}}. The {{CanadianUser}} template could use a new headline, maybe the smug one. --Paulgb 16:03, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Canadian_User was a dupe, incorrectly named, so thanks for deleting it. Anyway, I really just didn't appreciate the cannabis logo, or the self deprecating slogan (especially in comparison to the very patriotic sloganed AmericanUser template with the unobvious (is that a word?:) swastikas. Hockey seemed like a better logo, and the riff on health care seemed right. The Template:CanadianUserCokeAndHockey temp could get killed. I only made it as a tie-in to the Canadian Revolution article. Obviously some people are enjoying some choice though, because both the Smug and the Hockey templates are in use by others. -- T. (talk) 16:15, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind if the smug tagline and flag were put over the original template. The tagline is only there because I couldn't think of anything better at the time. --Paulgb 16:52, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- I thought the anti-patriotic one was a parody. The US one is poking fun at the fact that everyone in the US seems overly, unabashedly proud of their country. Canadians are more 'patriotic' (not sure if that's the correct term) than Americans on a daily basis, which is why the sheepish tagline seemed funny enough to parody for the AmericanUser template (which, as I mentioned, was a parody of the CanadianUser template in the first place). I did catch the heathcare joke, too, since I've been there in the not-too-distant past.
- It's your call. We could do one with multiple flag choices, multiple tagline options, etc. For the AmericanUser template it seems silly - Splaka's quote on my user page says it all: "brass, flashy and annoying, just like us." 01:35, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Heh. It's like asking me to choose between my children. I use the Hockey one myself, though I made the Smug one first. Paulgb also uses Hockey, in addition to his own, and Ogopogo seems attached to the Smug one. Paul is open to putting the Smug tagline and Flag as the original template, so let's do that. Is 2 too many? Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but I love choice. Having lived in the US for 5 years, I'm puzzled how only the Republicans and the Democrats are taken seriously, while in Canada we have the Liberals, Conservatives, Bloc Quebecquois, and New Democrats all with some piece of the big pie. ;) -- T. (talk) 02:45, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- We have more choices, it's just that America is very media-centric and they are only interested in their interests. You forgot the Green Party in Canada (met some of those up there). Down here we have a bunch of so-called 'third parties' and one independent candidate almost became president in 1992. We have plenty of choices, more than Canadians IMHO (just based on hobbies, I have infinitely more choices and freedom), but they're not always as obvious, especially if you're not a citizen... (Canadians show off when they break the law in defiance of their government, US citizens don't make a show of it because we have the right...) 03:00, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Well, no, I didn't forget the Green Party, but they're not influential in our government. :) I would imagine that there are a ton of other minor parties in the US (along with the ones that straddle both borders, like the Libertarians), but then there's a ton of everything there, and 10 times the population. It's just odd that a nation that demands dozens of varieties of Diet Soda are content to watch a ping pong match between an Elephant and a Donkey. :) I'd love to see a third party elected to the big chair, but I can't see it happening. But, I digress. Living in the States was a mostly positive experience and I'm glad for the time there. -- T. (talk) 03:17, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Based on where I was (I was there for an election), I figured the Green Party was pretty big and the Conservatives were an afterthought. It seemed NDP, Liberal, and Green, in that order, were the main parties (I saw one conservative sign). From a US perspective, all your parties are excessively socialist (our republicans are usually less socialist than Bush, btw). I'd also love to see a third party win in our countries, but it seems we're on a slippery slope to collapse unless we do something to change things. Regardless, they're both nice countries for their respective strengths and not-so-nice countries for their respective weaknesses. 04:07, 2 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- To throw into the mix for discussion, I've created a variant of the newly resized CanadianUserSmug template to make template:CanadianUserPennant which uses the smug text and uses the Pearson Pennant for the flag. (I've put this one onto my user page for now.) As you may know, the Pearson Pennant flag figured greatly in Canada's flag debate and is a fun variant to have here. See Great Flag Debate. It's currently the flag on Template:CanPM. --Ogopogo 14:09, 9 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- How about this compromise. Have it all reduced to one template, with the 'and actually admits it' 'and is vaguely smug about it' 'and can kick your ass at hockey' etc part randomized, and the flag static but choosable by whoever puts in the template (as a variable), eg {{CanadianUser|Cannaba.jpg}}. --Splaka 21:48, 9 Nov 2005 (UTC)
- Works for me. In fact, I would rather if the flag was randomised as well. But maybe we could have one for randomised and one for not. Or maybe this would defeat the whole purpose. --Paulgb 23:03, 9 Nov 2005 (UTC)

To IP range 152.163.100.0/24
Also to anyone else inadvertently blocked in 64.12.117.0/24 and/or 205.188.116.0/24.
- I'm sorry for blocking you. We had a hyperactive, vindictive vandal coming from that IP range. I blocked two IPs and he came back on yet another IP in the range, so I blocked the entire range. He ceased for ~30 minutes, then came back on multiple random IPs in two more ranges before we shot him down and did a whole bunch of rollbacks and manual cleanup. If it wasn't for Forest Fire Week, my Delete and Edit logs might shed some light on what happened, but they're probably buried many pages deep by now.
- Finding a few good IPs in a /24 is hard, especially when you have 3 separate /24 ranges vandalizing the site...
- The actual text of that block was confusing because I didn't know exactly what happened to blocked IPs (we just tested it tonight). It should have read "1 month of hard labour for insulting an admin AND screwing with many pages!". The argument is in QuickVFD and the vandalism was on numerous pages. It was the hate message about AAAAAAAAA! that turned into vandalism, and "labour" was a joke about his hatred of the letter 'u' in 'humour'.
To our friend in IP range 152.163.100.0/24:
- We know you are there by your work, but since your IP changes, we can't really express our appreciation. It doesn't matter whether you contribute articles - your categorization, linkification, formatting, and so-forth is appreciated more than you know. We talk about you often and have a great deal of respect for you, and there was worry that we might block you as well. What luck.
- Splaka and I are dying to give you a Purple Speen for your relentless efforts to clean up around here.
- We'd really love to meet you. Splarka left a link on the Village Dump about where to find us there, with a link to a web page that will allow you to pop in without a client if you don't have one.
- Again, thank you for all you do, and thank you for your patience,

Copyrights
Basically, I would prefer that people don't copy and upload images from other sites like that blatantly UNLESS it's for a very good reason. And if so, they absolutely must provide a link to the original site. Since they did neither, i've deleted the image in question. I *did* kinda violate copyrights with the ipod nano article, but ars technica linked back to us, so I assume they don't mind.
Regarding parody statues, it's only OK if the subject that is being parodied is the same subject we ganked from. So taking the rockpaperscissors extreme image is only ok if we're parodying rockpaperscissors extreme.
Deleting copyrighted stuff doesn't make you a sockpuppet, since this site is for original work, and not as a repository of other stuff. --Chronarion 18:36, 24 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Look, you shouldn't have deleted any of the IP talk pages with any contributions by any user (or at the very least, any admin). They are a useful at-a-glance tool to tell if we've had any dealings with an IP before, regardless if it is the same person or not. If the only author of a talk page was the IP itself or another IP then it is huffable, but geez, not if it is an admin telling the user not to post vanity! Rar. --Splaka 22:06, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

For ones like the above, this is not the case! aAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaa!GHUIasoidgha;sihogseihoga pgihoep9o4yfx/. --Splaka 22:33, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- Reviewing the contribution histories, here was the trend:
- If they were banned, I only saw a handful that came back. I did review them.
- Your example is great! Stop adding pie to pages. --Chronarion 16:09, 11 Mar 2005 (EST), notice the date, nearly a year ago, telling an anonymous IP to stop adding pie to pages. This IP didn't even come back after that day. Is it useful? No.
- Much of this stuff was old...real old, with histories on the IPs that started and stopped the same day as the comment. I also noticed that bannings seldom have anything to do with history like they do on wikipedia, many that mentioned bannings had only one comment from the admin that banned them. If not, there were warnings and complaints from other users, which were, again, rather old.
- If they were dynamic, they had little hope of ever being useful again. Unless you want to do some dramatic forensics, then you'd have two more clicks.
- It adds a record to the logging table and moves the page data to the archive table, the data doesn't use any more or less space in the database, but it does add log entries. It should make less work for MySQL if cruft is moved to the archive table from the page table. Restores take even more space than the deletes, by adding a log entry and copying them back to the page table, thereby doubling the space used.

- Yeah, some of them have, like, no contribution record whatsoever, like this one. The notices on the user and talk pages served a purpose, you know. Granted, serving a purpose might be all the more reason to delete, but still ... 62.252.32.12 (and all the various people stuck behind it who can't get accounts because their ISP's "transparent" proxy is broken) 19:11, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Restored. --KATIE!! 19:27, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Report of your violation of the 3RR on Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
You had been reported for violating WP:3RR on this article, but given your last edit, I declined to impose a block as you seem willing to compromise on this statement. I suggest that next time you see yourself reverting several times in a row to immediately stop and engage in discussion on the talk page of the either the article or the other party. Message about Jackass who Left Message Above
I too was left this "warning". Ha ha. Take out your ban stick and punish him Dawg. *lol*--Claudius Prime 22:24, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- He got me too. Ban stick applied, leaving the victim in traction for a week. Dawg, feel free to "visit" his hospital room and continue the "adjustments" if you deem it appropriate -- note that the user name is bogus, which is probably reason enough. --

NRV?
I'm guessing this is the place where I ask about this...So, anyways, what exactly is an NRV. My article about the "Cannon" was deleted because of this and I would just like to know why.--Seeker 06:32, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's a stay of execution, as mentioned elsewhere. Read the NRV template to learn more. 10:47, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
