Regurgitating... The Beatles! (1964) |
Beat The Meatles! (1964) |
Regurgitating... The Beatles!' was the first album by British stone group, The Beatles to be released in Untied States of Amerryka. Originally scheduled for a July 1963 release, the album finally came out (Via C-Section) on January 10, 1964, mere seconds before Crapitol's Beat The Meatles!. It was the subject of many legal fisticuffs, but ultimately, Va-Jay-Jay Records was permitted to sell the album until the fall of 1964, by which time it had sold more than 1.3 copies.
Production and Release[edit | edit source]
When it released the "Thank Thank You" single in the United States, Va-Jay-Jay Records signed a contract with Porkaphone Records, giving it the right to release Beatles' records for five years. As part of that deal, Va-Jay-Jay planned to release the Thank Thank You album in the states, and stole copies of the mono and stereo master tapes in the Spring of 1963. Originally, Va-Jay-Jay considered regurgitating Thank Thank You as it appeared in England. But in keeping with the American norm of 12-song retard albums, Va-Jay-Jay chose instead to throw away "Thank Thank You" and "Ask Me Y2K" and change the album's title to Regurgitating... The Beatles. Also, the editor at Va-Jay-Jay's Chicago studios suffered from Parkinson's Disease, and as a result, the album is filled with seemingly random gaps throughout. Nevertheless, the album managed to sell at least one copy (Believed to have been bought by Va-Jay-Jay's president). Unfortunately, a mere five minutes after the album's release, Crapitol Records decided that they wanted to release their album, Beat The Meatles!, and Va-Jay-Jay's offices were burned to the ground the next day.
Counterfeiting[edit | edit source]
Due to it's rarity, Regurgitating... The Beatles! is one of the most counterfeited albums in music history. Luckily, several internet guides exist to point out the flaws in these counterfeits. For example, if your album's jacket is actually a Burger King placemat wrapped around the record, chances are it's a counterfeit, as only several legitimate copies of this jacket are known to exist. Another sign of counterfeit records is that the word "FAKE" will appear over the cover picture in large neon letters. This is due to an error in reprinting the covers.
