Uncyclopedia talk:Requested articles/archive1
Tatum, Arthur
Piano jazz playing automaton in the guise of a large, mostly-blind African-American, created by an unknown jazz-hating mechanical genius. The creator of this device, which could play what was believed to have been impossible, was attempting to kill jazz piano playing by making all others feel inferior and thereby driving them out of the business. The atttempt was a failure, as the other musicians proceeded to upgrade their capabilities in an attempt to compete.
It is believed that the creator was eventually able to retire due to his efforts, as recordings by the automaton proceeded to sell well enough to earn him a good living.
Quotes: "I am just a piano player, but tonight, God is in the house!" Fats Waller, on seeing the automaton enter the room.

Removing blue links[edit source]
How often should blue links be removed from the list? I ask because a little while ago I removed this blue link and then promptly reverted myself out of doubt. Later another user removed the link. The link in question is Space Invaders; the comment that I tried to write out by "Space Manbow" is irrelevant to the situation. Pentium5dot1 07:10, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- I vote against removing blue links only because they could be deleted soon after and people wouldn't replace it on this page. I take it that the articles here are "requested" and therefore if they're bad, people will notice, after which we will need a replacement for it. • <-> Nov 30, 07:20
Wait a minute, let's clean this shit up. Not only should some of those stupid blue links be removed, such as Uncyclopedia vs Powershot, Flamewar of the Ages and Bacon and Cheese Sandwich of 1905 but most of the blue links should be on VFD. I suggest talking about what you want to delete HERE before you go deleting, btw. • <-> (Dec 4 @ 01:36)
Reorganization suggestion[edit source]
I believe that it might be easier for users to locate requests in a subject area of interest if this page were divided into subpages by topic. Does anyone have opinions on this? --Pentium5dot1|t~^_^~c 06:05, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- I have no objections. Though isn't it already in categories? While you're there you may wanna remove blue links and stupid red ones. don't think anyone has done so in a while. Have Fun! MuCal. BFF Sir 06:27 7 July 2008
- As soon as I get a chance, I am going to start planning out the reorganization at [[User:Pentium5dot1/Storage facility/UN:REQ reorganization]] (and subpages of that page). --Pentium5dot1|t~^_^~c 07:27, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
- Postponed until after The Woodburninator finishes his cleanup. --Pentium5dot1|t~^_^~c 06:59, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Yo Pentium[edit source]
I would say that the Square one should just be redirected. Honestly, after all that hacking I did, there's still probably a bit too much on here. I'm soon (either in the next few days or starting next week) going to try redirecting, and re-categorizing some articles here. I know you were probably going to do this anyway, and you've already started some, so lets do it. The Square thing just redirect. Its close enough, and stuff that is that close needs to leave this place. As for the re-categorizing, I still think you are right in thinking that some fairly big changes should be made to make browsing this place easier. I plan on fixing up some categories, and getting things a little tighter so that we can do whatever changes are needed later much easier. What do you think on all this? Attention![edit source]
I'm alphabetising the categories. If it looks like I deleted a bunch of stuff, I'm not. Well, not yet...again... uh, whatever. The Woodburninator (woodtalk) (woodstalk) 14:02, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Where does this belong...[edit source]
In which section should I put a request concerning the Precious Moments product line? I'm not sure whether it belongs in Mass Media, Toys, Misc, or somewhere else entirely. (verbosity removed) --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 06:49, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Never mind; I'll throw it in Miscellaneous myself and wait for someone else to recategorize it. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 07:00, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Someone put it under Companies, but I'd like to figure out a way to reclassify it as Conspiracy Theories/Scams or one of the categories I mentioned above. See User:Pentium5dot1/UN:REQ explanations/Precious Moments. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 05:31, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Math section?[edit source]
There seems to be no section on the page for mathematics-related requests. Should such a section be created with a level 2 heading, or does it belong as a level 3 heading under "Science and technology"? --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 02:05, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

This page does not exist; It's a protected title[edit source]
The bot that checks the top 50 Most Wanted articles doesn't check for protected titles. This is a problem, since an ambitious editor would probably just try to add such pages and not realise they were protected. Snowyowl 16:11, November 13, 2009 (UTC)
- There is no bot account yet; Special:WantedPages is a built-in MediaWiki feature. If we want an actual bot, we need to ask an administrator to create one. I'll explain in more detail when I have more time. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 08:11, November 19, 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm not up to scratch on the technical language. Regardless, is it possible to remove This Page Does Not Exist from Special:WantedPages, or will we have to settle for protecting the title?Snowyowl 01:20, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
- Not without having an automated program (bot) retrieve the contents of Special:WantedPages and do its own processing to exclude the protected titles. No bot with that job description currently exists on Uncyclopedia, which is why somebody needs to request one. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 01:59, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Wanted Articles[edit source]
Do wanted articles still count towards this award even if they have not been manually requested by someone editing the requested articles page? SuperBario 00:21, December 3, 2009 (UTC)
Proposal for official "More info" system[edit source]
You may have noticed the "(More Info)" links to subpages of User:Pentium5dot1/UN:REQ explanations that I've been adding beside some of my requests. Per discussion here, I would like to turn this into an official Uncyclopedia:Requested Articles/More info system. The idea is that people can create subpages when they need to provide lengthy background material for a request, and Uncyclopedia:Requested Articles/More info itself will list those subpages.
Here is what I propose to do:
- Move User:Pentium5dot1/UN:REQ explanations to Uncyclopedia:Requested Articles/More info, then rewrite it appropriately to indicate that anyone can make subpages
- Move the individual subpages User:Pentium5dot1/UN:REQ explanations/foobar to Uncyclopedia:Requested Articles/More info/foobar
When I say "move," I mean using the official MediaWiki move function in order to preserve the edit history. I will begin taking care of this myself in a few days if there are no objections. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 00:36, January 10, 2010 (UTC)
- I will be proceeding within 24 hours if I do not receive any objections. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 03:54, January 17, 2010 (UTC)
- I have now moved the top-level page, but it might be a while before I finish dealing with the subpages (and of course also editing UN:REQ itself to explain this system). --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 04:47, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
Trying to remove a successful request[edit source]
I am attempting to replace the text in the "Cheating and anti-cheating" section with the following:
- All requests previously made in this section have been fulfilled. To give you an idea of what belongs here, the articles requested were GameShark and PunkBuster.
but the connection keeps timing out. I made two (failed) attempts to save the edit, and now I can't even start a new editing session on the section. Before I try again later, does anyone have any objections to the edit? (I would prefer not to remove the section as there are other things that could belong there.) --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 00:55, August 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Done. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 17:29, August 9, 2010 (UTC)
Question[edit source]
can we just add whatever we want to this page? (i mean, as long as it's not like, already made, too random, just plain weird, etc.) --Stingray43 19:19, December 19, 2010 (UTC)
Newish article[edit source]
so this is the first time I'm recording "666" as a new article that was in the top 50. Made a few tweaks to it. Thx Snouffs (March 10, 2011).
