UNNEWS: BEG ZIM OR SPIKE TO RETURN[edit source]

So... yes. Someone in charge, and folks backing up... to the point where that someone can go off who knows where without having to worry about it, for the back-upers will take care of things, yes? Am I being overoptimistic? I mean, who in tarnation would do that? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 00:12, 12 September 2011

An admin, like Rabbi was IC of HowTo:, like ZIM was IC of UnNews. Maybe beg Zim to take the job again? - you can't blame a girl for trying. The unfortunate part of the job is having to read all the submissions, many of which are painfully immature and inane and I hate reading them. But it has to be an Admin, because it's an admins' job to do it. Only an admin would hold any authority. PLEASE BEG ZIM, he's worth begging for, he was good. Lyrithya, you're a lovely person, really. Cheers--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 07:31, Sep 12
He is, but I'm afraid I just can't bring myself do that. Zim got tired of putting up with the nonsense here and left for good reason, good reason that if anything has only gotten more applicable in the intervening time. He's happy where he is, and especially given his health concerns, trying to bring him back to so stressful a situation would not be my idea of kind. I'm sorry, for all of us. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 15:42, 12 September 2011
So, the "Nonsense" is the problem! Problem is identified, so time to nuke-the-nonsense. Let the guilty bastards hang. There is no justice without rectification. As long as "the nonsense" is in place, so long it is hopeless. It is certainly not my fault. I cooperated with every editor, and wrote, wrote, wrote. Maybe I wrote 400 Unnews... but only 1 out of 400 got featured. So if my news is so bad then fuck it.--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 16:06, Sep 12
Not necessarily hopeless; I'm thinking outright stubbornness might just do the trick. Hells, it's gotten me this far, hasn't it? Establish (or just dig up the old ones) clear rules of conduct, what folks can and cannot do, and ban or ignore anyone who tries to get in the way of that, unless they do so in a civilised manner and actually provide viable alternatives, same as anywhere else. And you, keep writing. We all keep writing. Screw anyone who begs to differ; we're here to write. That's what this whole bloody place is for. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 16:22, 12 September 2011

Hi! I'd like to introduce myself...[edit source]

I'm Bizzeebeever, an all-around terrible writer. I noticed the discussion you were having with Lyrithya about a new UnNews Czar, and I have to agree that I'm quite of your opinion — I'd prefer if there were an editor overseeing the rubbish that gets submitted for the recent unnews template. Also, I have something to add on that subject.

I'm one of the two idiots who was recently adding stories to the front page, at the urging of some of the folks in the IRC channel. I only intended to write two stories originally — one of them, about the lady who punched a bear in the face to rescue her dog, and a second about the very-public tiff that former Yahoo! head Carol Bartz has been having with the immature idiots on the Yahoo! board of directors. (I intended that last one to sound immature, as the story on which it is based is...so immature, itself.) Also, I sought opinion on both of those articles, before I stuck them on the UnNews template.[1]

Unfortunately, the bear-punching article garnered someone else's parody, which I thought was rather well-done. On the advice of someone who is an admin here, I[2] decided to continue the back-and-forth, hoping that the person who was parodying me could keep up their writing. Sadly, I was wrong. The whole thing devolved into a puddle of embarrassing crap. For that, I apologize.

Where am I going with this? Well, my thinking was, if an UnNews czar had been in place, perhaps my own original "quality" articles would have made it onto the template[3], but the subsequent in-joke-war would have obviously never happened. I'd be in favor, so long as the person could be kept around, instead of being constantly chased off [4]. I've seen some of your articles...perhaps you and Mattsnow or someone would be interested in taking charge of an "editorial committee" or some such?

What do you think? ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 11:40, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Reply to Bizzee[edit source]

Hi there. You see, the problem is that we need a real authorized Admin-Editor, with full authority to enforce whatever standard they like, delete what they like, and feature what they like, just like every real editor in the world. This means first begging ZIM to return, or begging SPIKE to return, or begging HUMBUCKER to return. And then letting them rule. But that requires apology on the part of guilty as sin ass holes who hopefully might be cool enough people to do so. Any users, specially any Admins responsible for driving the last 3 editors away, needs to kiss their asses, big time. Write to beg pardon and ask them to return.

I am not the one who drove the editors away. I had no problem with ZIM, SPIKE OR HUMY, because I always accepted their authority. So this is not my fault. Therefore it is not my job to fix. It is for the guilty to repent, not the innocent. The Admins have to grow-up, turn into adults, and fix this mess. I'm not sure who are the guilty ones because I never paid attention to the hen pecking and bull shit. But the ass holes know who they are, and it's their duty to fix what they have screwed up.--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 13:46, Sep 12

I almost agree with every word you wrote. But it seems that neither SPIKE nor Humbucker want anything to do with this place, no matter which admin gets down on their knees and proffers ...favors. (Dunno Zim's opinion.) Considering the drama over the past two weeks that surrounded Sock (and others), I won't say I'd blame them.
That being said, why not be part of the solution? If a committee could be formed to consider UnNews articles, would there really have to be a single person? It's hard on single editors; this is a non-paying job we're talking about, after all. ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 13:36, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
ZIM is still around and I believe he would return if apologized to honestly. That is step one. But it just may be that a few bad apples spoil the whole pie. In which case I'm not going to continue. You see, the people who were trying to punish ZIM, SPIKE and HUMY for supposed arrogance, were themselves at fault, not the editors. Maybe Spike and Humy want nothing to do with this place for some very good reason. Which is something we should both consider. In regards to a committee, how about we have a navy ship with a committee of captains? I want no part of that.--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 13:51, Sep 12
;) Just so you know, it were Zombiebaron gave SPIKE a one-week ban. SPIKE hain't been glimpsed since.
Tossing about ideas here: instead of Tsar-for-life, how 'bout electing a new editor every 2 months...or 1 month? Or, a roster of editors, each of whom takes on the duties of Editor-Tyrant for a set amount of time, before relinquishing said duties to the next? The position might not be such a soul-suck, anymore. ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 14:09, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
Hi there, listen, bro! As long as the FED system of debt-based economy exists so long it is impossible to fix and bound to fail because of creating and thriving off scarcity. The situation with the people who caused the UnNews problem is same as the FED. They are the problem, not the editor. You must fix the problem to solve it, otherwise is just happens again. Some immature hot-headed admins should resign. So better write to the Admins as I have no authority here what so ever. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 14:39, Sep 12
BTW: I have email address to contact Spike. But until the offenders are brought to justice he is gone. How about Zombie what's his name becomes the editor? He fucked it all up. Let him suck on it.--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 14:44, Sep 12
I really don't want to employ this abbreviation very often...but "L.O.L.!" (on the Zombiebaron part.)
Looking back at Humb's talk page, I see you & I both saw him off after the FFW controversy and the forum hissy-fit. Also, I saw your comment back then, about how "rotating editors suck", so I'll withdraw that suggestion. But the issues might not just be with one or two dumb admins. I dunno how anybody's gonna resolve this. I'm...truly perplexed. ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 15:23, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
Bro, as long as the problem remains in place, so long nothing will work. If the Admins, who are supposed to solve problems, are themselves the problem, then it is hopeless. And it will end up just like Myspace - worthless. So, my question is, HOW DOES WIKIPEDIA DO IT??? That is what we should do. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 16:15, Sep 12
Dunno, ask Wikipedia. However...they also seem to have about 100000 times as many users/contributors as Uncyclopedia, so what works for them...you know. ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 16:19, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think in Wikipedia that bad Admins are ABOVE THE LAW, like here.--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 17:06, Sep 12
I doubt anybody's above the law, there are just so few regular users around at this time (and consequently even fewer regular admins) that there are no real "checks and balances". Kinda the Wild West, here. There's TFK, Zombie, Lyrithya, Sock, MHaille, Olipro, I guess, and...uh...RAHB. A few others, too. Seems like almost none of those folks are on at the same time, though. Also, seems like 1/2 of the admins left in the last year. ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 17:16, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
We're all above the law here, because enforcing anything is pretty much unthinkable, apparently. But Wikipedia has accountability, and an arbitration committee that... arbitrates things; here we have random admins and random users who yell at each other a bit until their mummies make them go to bed. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 19:22, 12 September 2011

Well, bud, I guess its not that entertaining as it was. Half the good writers have left and been replaced by lesser talents. Half the admins have quit, and replaced by ban-loving hot-heads. I got banned for saying thank you to some guy. And it wasn't a joke either, this cat was wigged out or something.

Wikipedia was having the same problem and losing a ton of good people because some Admins were A-holes. But now they are becoming more polite and user friendly. Slowly, old editors like me are writing again. I just did a new article on the world's leading pearl expert, Kenneth Scarratt, brand new, check it out on Wikipedia. So that means Uncyclopedia has to dump A-hole Admins, and start to be cool again. Otherwise when good people leave they are replaced by much lesser talents. I have 450 articles, enough to publish a 700 pages comedy book. So I might do that.

I'll consider to help Uncyclopedia when they try to improve, like Wikipedia is doing. They need to smile, not frown. They need to be cool, not enraged. They need to weed out the BS Admins, and not ban so much. And if they are really cool people they will improve. If not, then they won't. I wish them the best and always have. So we'll see if they follow the example of the formally rude and dick-headed Wikipedia, who are now trying to smile and look pretty again. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 19:33, Sep 12

Hopefully I'll still be welcome here when that happens. Meantime, good writing wherever you are, eh? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 23:44, 12 September 2011

slug lines[edit source]

Hey. You wrote something about slug lines and capslock in the VFH voting at UnScripts:Waiting For Breivik. Could you change those 'slug lines' then? I don't quite get what do you mean by that. If you do, I will know for the future. Thanks. Polisz.jpgSir Ptok-BentonicznyPisz tutaj KUN 14:11, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Happen to be lurking around here, hope funnybony doesn't mind if I reply... I believe funnybony meant this: Screenplay slug line ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 14:24, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
Hey bro! Here is a good lesson SLUG LINE. I'm not sure of your coding. Just add that ALL CAPS line I mentioned as the very first line of the script, then skip one space and then have the current description below the SLUG LINE. For more on scripts please see the Industry link about script formatting by the Industry for the Industry:

INDUSTRY STANDARD SCRIPT FORMATTING INSTRUCTIONS for UnScripts reference.. Great lessons. Good work, mate! Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 14:30, Sep 12

Ok, thanks for the explanation and changes in my script :) Polisz.jpgSir Ptok-BentonicznyPisz tutaj KUN 15:09, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

More UnNews[edit source]

I might be having an idea here - what do you think of having a sort of... waiting area for new UnNews? A category or list or area they go into prior to being reviewed by someone else, probably the chief or whatnot, or even any trusted user who isn't certain individuals I could name, where they appear instead of on the UnNews mainpage until they're reviewed (by... I dunno, adding a hidden category or something). Hells, I could even add something to the abusefilter to prevent self-reviewing, if it comes to that, save the trouble of banning folks who try to do it anyway. And we could add exceptions, of course, though considering how almost all of us seem to wind up with complete duds at least some of the time, we could... see about that...

Should we perhaps take this conversation to the newsroom, though? That is what it's for, innit? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 16:14, 12 September 2011

Where the heck is the news room? The people who caused this problem MUST be demoted. No as hole Admins. If they can't behave then take away their misused and destructive power. Give it to mature people only. Even Admin appointments can be a mistake. And in such cases they should lose their Admin positions. Future admins should take an anti-emotional-retard exam. And bad admins should be fired. If you want to move this to the "newsroom" that is a good idea. But the solution is to do the UnNews like Wikipedia does it. Currently it's not funny anymore. And I don't forgive unrepentant dicks. Get RID of bad Admins. Let me know how else I can help. Cheers, dear!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 16:31, Sep 12
I'm glad you agree, though I can't take away anything. I can, however, throw lugnuts at their heads and make people think twice about doing things, apparently, especially if provided with actual names for some of what they do (since my tendency is normally to invariably lose track of such things, go figure). Many of these folks do, at heart, mean well; they just start doing stupid crap and if nobody even tells them, let alone others who encourage it, it only gets worse. But yeah, the sort of holding cell is something Wikipedia does/did - but mostly just for articles by new editors. UnNews being what it is, though, with pieces having to come out done pretty much from the start, it seems it could be logical for there as well, and for everyone. Could even use things like {{construction}} and {{ICU}} to indicate statuses of articles, and point editors in the right direction... (can't in UnNews main because it all shows up immediately, you know?) 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 16:52, 12 September 2011
Can I stick my nose in here, and suggest yet another bad idea? How 'bout, if someone puts three stories on the RecentUnNews template which then get removed by an editor-at-large or other admin, they lose privileges to edit said template? Would it be possible to exert such fine-grained control over the UnNews template? A bot, perhaps, patrolling? Whattya think? ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 16:59, September 12, 2011 (UTC)
Could work, but how would one even keep track of it? Would you be able to write that bot? Might be easier to have a list of folks who can edit it, and folks generally just need to ask to get added, or just added if someone more in charge sees they'd not abuse it... 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 19:19, 12 September 2011
But the idiot monkeys in the forum decided they want anarchy, and so if you add a restriction to the recent unnews template, you'll just be giving them the middle finger (which would lead to more yelling and strife, and people being carted off in the Whaaambulance). No, seems to me that a page everyone has access to, unless they've been specifically banned from it, would work better, as it (a) introduces accountability, and (b) does not step on anyone's toes.
And would there really have to be a bot? Can't pages have fine-grained restrictions set on them, like an IRC channel? If not, I doubt I'd need to design an entire wikibot, just to watch one page. Gotta be a simpler way.
Also, probably a good idea to take this discussion elsewhere. Sorry, funnybony. ⇒»Biz E.B. Ver Icons-flag-us.png (gabble) 08:54, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
Hi Biz and Lyrithya, well, it looks like it's back in motion already. Best wishes for positive progress. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 13:46, Sep 13

UnNews News[edit source]

I hereby declare myself High Lord of UnNews. All must tremble before me, lest I hit them with a dictionary. Rar! 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 15:30, 13 September 2011

You got my vote. I'm glad to hear the News. Perhaps I should write an UnNews on this news...humm.. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 18:22, Sep 13
