- I don't know how to fill out that thing below, as it all looks very complex. Anyway, the lyrics are rather awesome. There should be a reference to the FED in there maybe, but maybe not... I thought "monopolies" could sound more like "living life in piece" but have probably forgotten how the song goes anyway...
- "At the time, the IRS confiscated all the money the album made to show who had the bigger dick." Obviously nothing wrong with referencing penis, especially when it's bigger than expected, but WTF are you talking about man. The rest of the intro is "OK" but not good enough to get it near the front page. Needs to be a lot more smooth subtle and slick. Like my penis. Obviously someone who can actually sing needs to do the vocals at some point. :-)

- Thanks for the "monopolies" line, but I moved it up to the next verse. I generally listen to the song everytime I write it. You can "Imagine" how exhausted I am of that piano score.
- The "bigger dick" is kind of a "The IRS owns you" macho man thing. In the early 90s, Willie Nelson got into trouble for not paying his taxes, so the IRS took all the money from his album Who Will Buy My Memories? I changed it to marijuana for the sake of humour, and to reference the very real pot-legalizing protest group, Willie Nelson's Teapot Party.
- How ironic, given the subject and parody material, that a British person was the first one to touch upon this? Obviously, not as ironic as modern 'Tea Party' activists siding with the Tories. -- Kip the Egg

I like the whole concept. Reviewing an Untune is a bastard of a thing to do though, so this is likely to be a short review. One thing that I would like to see is more of an approach like Wikipedia:Imagine (song). The original was and is a big deal. So many things have been based on that song and it has been the anthem for a lot of the peace movement since its recording. I'd like to see the same here. The Willie Nelson reference was news to me as well, and as such it seems to just come across as a random name drop. The concept is funny, and the work you've put into the lyric shows. The problem is it feels too short. Not the song itself, but the full article. Such a huge topic it feels like it needs more in regards to how much influence it has had. |

- My original vision was this with a colorful Gadsden flag snake in place of John Lennon's face. However, when Magic man presented the simple snake on there, I thought it looked cool.
- Now that I think about it, it might work better more as a straight article, since I don't see anyone singing this anytime soon. I feel the humour should comes mostly from the fact that Imagine is a song about a utopian brotherhood society, while Imagine No Taxes is the antithesis by being from the perspective of a selfish money-loving rugged individualism. It would probably help if I actually read Atlas Shrugged.
- The anthem theme will fit with the fact that Ayn Rand herself famously called libertarians the hippies of the right. Keeping with this concept, Bob Black famously called libertarians just "Republicans who like to do drugs", so the Willie Nelson, Tea Party and Rand Paul's Aqua Buddha jokes can flow more organically.
- I still believe it's possible to have this be an actual song if I can get someone to sing the lyrics over a karaoke track of Imagine in the style of John Lennon's voice.
