'Autism is a disease, dammit!' This should be removed, as it is actually true. EDIT: Well, partially true, as it is a disorder. 222.152.198.224 05:11, 24 Dec 2005 (UTC)

What's a disorder and what is not a disorder is by no means a clear cut question.

I left it for a purpose. Check Neurotypical Syndrome from the links. And yeah, Autism isn't a disease, it's a disorder, and not a bad disorder at that. ~T

Sick sick sick

You know, some autistics (including this one) believe that those who want to cure autism really just want the autistics gone. --Ж Kalir, Wandering Hippie Salesman 18:23, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Sick sick sick Eh?

Yes, SICK, SICK, SICK!!!!!!!!!11111oneoneone.

Well... obviously, if you cure their autism they won't be autistics, therefore, they'll be gone.

Sign your posts in talk pages, silly anti-autistics. Also, they believe that you can't cure autism because it is a part of who they are, albeit different from most. --Ж Kalir, Wandering Hippie Salesman 18:15, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Not all autistics have trouble, like the ones with Asberger's Nejee16 03:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Good stuff. I especially like how it says autism is the next step in human evolution, perhaps a (humorous) comparison to vulcans could be included?--12.72.53.18 06:27, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

It seems this article is edit-locked (which is fair), but I’m autistic, and I have some ideas. I think the article should be more funny to autistic people and rely a bit less on stereotypes. Some suggestions:

  • The “tantrums about vegetables” bit is harsh. Autistic people are constantly compared to toddlers and we hate it. Consider changing it to something along the lines of “inability to eat 90% of foods because ewww slimy”.
  • The “Designer Autism” bit sounds like a parody of actual events, but in reality, overdiagnosis is not that big of a thing. It’s mostly just autistic people getting diagnosed, and then old guys thinking the diagnoses have run wild because there weren’t nearly as many autistic people in their day (back then, if you stared at a flower for hours, you were just “quirky” or “a f*cking idiot”). Underdiagnosis is the real issue. There’s comedic potential in the fact that most autistic women and people of color don’t get diagnosed until they’re 30, because doctors are unable to identify autism in patients who don’t resemble Sheldon Cooper.

Hello[edit source]

I am also an Aspie as well. I have done some of the editing, especially the part about Satan being the president of Cure Autism Now. LOL

---Digimon (Odd name for a Pokemon fan, eh?)

Hey fellow aspie, I happen to be one myself and I think the article is just a parody of autism, but we all got to be careful on joking about autism. The other article on Asperger's syndrome seems to been written by a teenager who thinks they are "weirdos" to be teased at in school. You see, there is an autism spectrum of the different levels of autism, from the Kepler's to Asperger's, and the similar symptoms of mental disorders such as ADD, OCD and ADHD seems to hold a link with autistic behavioral traits. The Cure Autism Now group is gone, but they realized it's incurable and more mental psychologists began to sense autism is just a different neurological type of brain. Autism is NOT a disease or illness, it won't kill a person, but it will affect how a person thinks or behaves, or the saying goes "Autism is a world" the person lives in. Btw, I have an above average IQ, able to ride a bike, balance a checkbook, can speak 3 other languages, had a girlfriend, got married with a child of her own, and possessed a job now and then. Autism should never be an impediment to a normal life, maybe that's the "fun" part of the article is the information you're reading off of it is just plain STUPID. + PotatoSmut 18:27, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I have Autism[edit source]

I have autism, the asperger's syndrome to be exact, but this page is damn good. Great job, you guys. Ineedhelpalot

What's with all the attention?[edit source]

Now people keep telling me I have Aspergers but i'm not any different from any other person. If you ask me, I think "Asperger's Syndrome" and "Autism" are just excuses for people to make money and make people boring by prescribing Ritalin or something to them. It's not a disease, it's an excuse. – Preceding unsigned comment added by PhantomTheUnknown (talk • contribs)

December 2012 rewrite[edit source]

I must read no more....Reading this page feels rather weird. Its probably because when I read it, I dont find much funny stuff in the text, and because of that, I'm constantly worrying about the fact that I might read something negative towards autism. --MrRatermat2 (talk) 13:26, December 8, 2012 (UTC)

Nah. Could be it's just a sucky article. And by "sucky", I mean "shitty". ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngSat, Dec 8 '12 15:03 (UTC)
That an article is sucky, though an opinion, could have objective merit. To worry about reading something negative towards autism, is something MrRatermat2 brought with him--like some people who visit our articles on religions. Spıke ¬ 15:28 8-Dec-12
Yikes! This article is a special kind of sucky, the sucky product of many visitors to whom the diagnosis of Autism is the perfect excuse for personal shortcomings or misbehavior, as well as a ready-made identity with a grant of immunity. Hence the large chaw of External Links, some of which are probably the personal blogs of the visitors. However, whether or not this "diagnosis" is of something medical--see above on this talk page--it's not impossible to convert any fact into a funny article. Spıke ¬ 15:36 8-Dec-12
I read a large variety of things. I just dont like it when people make negative comments about groups or types of people who dont deserve the hate.
An example would be: Nations, people shouldn't be mocked for being Scottish or American. But, people like whores and murderers should be insulted instead. I guess its just me that feels that way. --MrRatermat2 (talk) 14:05, December 9, 2012 (UTC)
Now, see, there I disagree with you. Scots and Americans should be mocked precisely for being Scots and Americans. Everybody knows that both Scots and Americans enjoy drunken romances with their food, the difference being that the Scots do it while their food is still alive. ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngSun, Dec 9 '12 14:12 (UTC)
Haha, that was funny, but I hate it when people plain out say things like "Everyone hates you and your family."
Again, that would be rather funny. --MrRatermat2 (talk) 14:22, December 9, 2012 (UTC)
Everyone does hate you and your family. Especially seeing as how you are all so handsome or beautiful -- it really was unjust for you lot of rascally scum to keep all the genes for blond hair, doe-eyes, and large, bountiful breasts to yourselves. Don't even get me started on the money. I don't mind the least bit that you and your army of cyclopean horse-men took all of our gold ducats, but was it necessary to melt them down and pour them into a massive cast formed into the words "FUCK YOU PEASANTS"? The way the sun glints off of it every morning makes the acid rise in our throats. One of these days, when we can scrape together enough old boards and pig-entrails to build a trebuchet, you fuckers will rue the day. ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngSun, Dec 9 '12 14:33 (UTC)
Well, while you schmucks were debating humor (MrRatermat2's point being that, since some objects of humor cannot help it, we should pull our punches or just go away--a point that will never carry the day here), I rewrote most of the article, the serious points being that autism is a great diagnosis both for students that simply annoy the teacher, and for excuse-makers who want government checks. But the serious rants and nagging are gone. Spıke ¬ 15:18 9-Dec-12
You would make an amazing psychologist with that attitude, seriously! "Muh muh, you are just ACTING, muh, muh". But otherwise, you're thinking about kids with Aspergers. Autism was generally coined for describing kids with the IQ of 3 and are unable to even grab a ball without trying to eat it. --MrRatermat2 (talk) 15:26, December 9, 2012 (UTC)
I never claim to be a psychologist (though I deserve a retainer for my recent sessions with Kamek98). I sometimes claim to write humor. With your own attitude, it is less likely that you will write humor than merely edit pages to reinforce an orthodoxy, just like the previous generation of authors of this article.
