Moccan (ᛖⴲⵎcâᔑıИⵢ), transliterated as mhoq'esins'x̱w /m̥ɒ̥qʼɐ̥sɪ̥nsʼχʷ/, also dz'ğch' mhoq'esinṯs'x̱w ([anal] speech in the manner of the Moccans) is the official language of the planet Mocca CN-5, where ʔK'âʞДe lives. Moccan is written from right to left like Hebrew, and its alphabet contains 96 letters, each with its own sound. Humans will never be able to speak Moccan, no matter how hard they try, due to the differing structure of their mouths. The inability of humans to speak through their anuses is also an issue.

Since the mouths of Moccans are identical to their anuses, the language can be spoken orally or anally, although speaking Moccan through your mouth is considered vulgar and only done when the speaker is angry. Since you can't see a Moccan's anus through its strange alien pants, many Moccans despise the sight of a moving mouth (except when eating, of course).

Phonology of Moccan[edit | edit source]

There are only three vowels in Moccan: ɒ̥ (И), ə̥ (ᔑ), and ɪ̥ (ⵎ), all of which are always voiceless (whispered). When the vowels are adjacent to uvular or pharyngeal sounds, they are more accurately pronounced as ɒ̥, ɐ̥ and ɛ̥ respectively.

Moccan has 93 distinct consonants:

Moccan contains FOUR different velar trills and TWO glottal nasals. These sounds are unpronounceable to humans.

The sound ʞ, transcribed as /p/ and romanized as "b" is rare and is actually produced by slapping one's buttocks together, much like you slap your lips together to pronounce "p" or "b". It is a very rare sound, primarily used in borrowings from English and Moccasinian to represent "p" and "b".

The sound Ꮊ, romanized as "y", is normally pronounced as /ɣ/ or /ɰ/, but it becomes /j/ if next to i, sh, ch or ch'.

Each letter represents a single sound in the language. The name ʔK'âʞДe is romanized as 'Yńhbsdłrkxw and pronounced /ɣˀhⁿpst͡ɬtrk͡xʷʰ/. It contains a sound unpronounceable to humans, but the name can be approximated as "ghnps-tl-trrrkw."

ṯ'nhiwiʡhdłoʡ', the Un-existinator, is written as 0И'_cⱇc=ⵎñ .

Grammar and vocabulary[edit | edit source]

Pronominal prefixes on verbs
1sg. 1dl. 1pl. exc. 1pl.inc. 2sg. 2dl 2pl. 3sg an. 3dl an. 3pl an. 3sg in. 3dl in. 3pl in.
As a subject j- kxw- t'- n- ǥ- k'- m- ts'- kx- ǥw- ts- tł'- ń-
As an object -sh(e)- -xw(e)- -th'(e)- -n(e)- -x̱(e)- -x(e)- -m(e)- -s'(e)- -x(e)- -x̱w(e)- -s(e)- -ł'(e)- -ń(e)-

The e in seen in the pronominal object suffixes is only added if the verb root begins in a consonant.

The OBJECT pronominal prefixes can also be prefixed onto a noun to show possession, so that mqwshińh "moccasin" can become "shmqwshińh" "my moccasin." The "e" seen in parentheses for pronominal object prefixes is never used under this circumstance, so the word is shmqwshińh, not shemqwshińh.

The plural suffix is -ṯ for animate nouns and -t for inanimate nouns. There is a separate plural for when there are two of something (a dual). For both animate and inanimate nouns, the dual is -ʡ'.

Tense suffixes
Tense Suffix
Distant past -okw'
Recent past -ẖ
Present -qws
Gnomic (neutral, anachronous) (none)
In a hypothetical situation... -x̱'d
There are even more tenses than this!

The verb root meaning "eat" is -meqx̱'-, and the word for "moccasin" is mqwshińh. The verb root meaning "to see [something] is -oğw-.

If a sentence has both a subject and an object, and both of these are legitimate nouns, the SUBJECT is suffixed with -grwh.

Thus, to say, "I ate two moccasins [recently]", you would say: jł'emǥx̱'ẖ mqwshińhʡ' /t͡ʃɬʼə̥mq͡χʼħ mqʷʰʃɪ̥hⁿʡʼ/. Good luck trying to pronounce that.

The ring-shaped male genitalia of Moccans is known as ndziq't (always in the plural (NOT THE DUAL) due to ancient taboos.)

To say "Bill is looking at my ringballs", you would say ts'ńoğwqws Bilgrwh shndziq't. /t͡sʼɦⁿɒʁ̞ʷqʰʷs *asscheeks slap together*ɪ̥ɮʀ̟̟̥ʷ ʃnt͡sɛ̥qʼtʰ/.

"To mock me is a sin." ǥtigrhx̱'d ǥsheł'ekxw'x̱'de'ʕ.

To say "Long ago, ʔK'âʞДe slowly transformed me into a cucumber", you say ts'sheǥreʢkokw' 'Yńhbsdłrkxwgrwh.
