Glorbo is a World of Warcraft character that was introduced in the Dragonflight expansion pack in 2023. Glorbo is the leader of the Glorboids, a race of friendly and cuddly creatures that live in Glorboland, a hidden continent located between Northrend and Pandaria. Glorbo is widely regarded as the best thing that ever happened to World of Warcraft, and has been praised by fans and critics alike for his innovative gameplay, compelling story, and adorable appearance.

History[edit | edit source]

Glorbo was first hinted at in Hearthstone in 1994, when a card named "Glorbo's Gift" was added to the game. The card had the effect of "Summon a random Glorboid. Give it +1/+1 for each card in your hand." The card was very popular among players, who speculated about what a Glorboid was and what it looked like. Some fan art and fan fiction were created, depicting Glorboids as cute and fluffy animals with horns, wings, and tails.

In 2023, Blizzard finally announced that Glorbo would be coming to World of Warcraft in the Dragonflight expansion pack. The announcement was met with overwhelming excitement and joy from the WoW community, who had been waiting for Glorbo for almost 30 years. Blizzard revealed that Glorbo would be a neutral character that could be befriended by both the Alliance and the Horde, and that he would offer quests, rewards, and secrets to players who visited him in Glorboland. Blizzard also stated that Glorbo would have a major role in the story of Dragonflight, as he would help the players fight against the evil Chen Stormstout, who had become corrupted by the Old Gods and had taken over Karazhan.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Glorbo is a unique character that has his own gameplay mechanics and features. Unlike other NPCs, Glorbo can be interacted with in various ways, such as petting, hugging, feeding, playing, and talking. Each interaction will increase or decrease Glorbo's affection level towards the player, which will affect his mood, dialogue, and behavior. For example, if Glorbo is happy, he will give the player useful items and buffs; if he is sad, he will cry and ask for attention; if he is angry, he will bite and scratch the player.

Glorbo also has his own mini-game called "Glorbomania", which can be accessed by talking to him. In this mini-game, the player can control Glorbo as he explores Glorboland and collects various items and treasures. The mini-game has several levels of difficulty and rewards, depending on how much time and effort the player invests in it. The mini-game also has hidden secrets and easter eggs that can be discovered by finding clues and solving puzzles.

Glorbo is also a powerful ally in combat, as he can join the player's party as a pet or a companion. Glorbo has his own class called "Glorber", which is a hybrid of all other classes in the game. He can use any weapon and armor type, cast any spell or ability from any school or specialization, and switch between any role (tank, healer, or DPS) at any time. He also has his own unique skills and talents that are based on his mood and affection level. For example, he can use "Glorbolution", which transforms him into a giant monster that deals massive damage to enemies; or he can use "Glorbolution", which heals all allies for a percentage of their maximum health.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Glorbo has been universally acclaimed by both fans and critics as the best feature of World of Warcraft ever. He has been praised for his cute and charming design, his fun and engaging gameplay, his deep and emotional story, and his overall impact on the game's lore and world. He has also been credited for reviving World of Warcraft's popularity and reputation after years of decline and controversy. Many players have expressed their love and admiration for Glorbo on social media platforms such as Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, Discord, Snapchat, and OnlyFans. Some players have even created fan clubs, websites, podcasts, blogs, memes, songs, cosplay, tattoos, and merchandise dedicated to Glorbo.

Glorbo has also received several awards and honors for his excellence and innovation. He has been named as the "Character of the Year" by several gaming publications and websites, such as IGN, GameSpot, PC Gamer, Polygon, Kotaku, Eurogamer, and Xfire. He has also been nominated for the "Best Performance in a Video Game" category at the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs, and the Emmys. He has also been inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame, the Guinness Book of World Records, and the Smithsonian Institution.

Controversy[edit | edit source]

Despite his overwhelming popularity and success, Glorbo has also been the subject of some controversy and criticism. Some players have accused Glorbo of being too overpowered, too easy, too boring, too annoying, too childish, too furry, too gay, too communist, too capitalist, too racist, too sexist, too fascist, too liberal, too conservative, too religious, too atheist, too vegan, too carnivore, too feminist, too misogynist, too environmentalist, too polluting, too patriotic, too traitorous, too loyal, too rebellious, too friendly, too hostile, too smart, too dumb, too happy, too sad, too angry, or just plain bad. These players have demanded that Blizzard nerf, buff, change, remove, or delete Glorbo from the game.

Some players have also claimed that Glorbo is not a real feature of World of Warcraft, but a hoax created by a Reddit user named ▉▉▉▉▉▉ (identity withheld for legal reasons) in 2023. According to this conspiracy theory, ▉▉▉▉▉▉ (identity withheld for legal reasons) made a post on r/wow titled "I'm so excited they finally introduced Glorbo!!!", in which he pretended to be enthusiastic about a fake feature that he made up. The post was intended to trick a website called Z League, which used AI bots to scrape articles from Reddit and publish them as news without any fact-checking. The plan worked, as Z League published an article titled "World of Warcraft (WoW) Players Excited for Glorbos Introduction.", which was based on ▉▉▉▉▉▉'s (identity withheld for legal reasons) post and its comments. The article was then picked up by other news outlets and websites, such as BBC, Engadget, and Wowpedia, which reported on Glorbo as a real feature of World of Warcraft. The hoax was then exposed by ▉▉▉▉▉▉ (identity withheld for legal reasons) himself, who revealed his true intentions and motives in a follow-up post on r/wow titled "I can't believe this actually worked.".

However, most players have dismissed this conspiracy theory as total nonsense and fake news. They have argued that Glorbo is indeed a real feature of World of Warcraft that was introduced in the Dragonflight expansion pack in 2023. They have provided evidence and proof of Glorbo's existence and authenticity, such as screenshots, videos, livestreams, podcasts, blogs, memes, songs, cosplay, tattoos, and merchandise. They have also pointed out that Blizzard has officially confirmed and endorsed Glorbo as a legitimate part of World of Warcraft's lore and world. They have cited statements and tweets from Blizzard employees and developers, such as ▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉, ▉▉▉▉▉▉, Dwayne Johnson, Keanu Reeves, ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉, Barack Obama, ▉▉▉▉▉, Dalai Lama, ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉, Beyoncé Knowles, ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉, Justin Bieber, ...
