Forum:Uncyclopedia's 20th anniversary
I know I haven't been here for even 3 months, so I'd like to ask the professionals/basement dwellers/slaves to editing/good writers/PTSD veterans/people behind the screen about what we should do for Uncyclopedia's nearing 20th anniversary on Jan 5 next year (18 days from now). Yes, this website (if you took in account the combined history of all iterations) is now one fifth of a century old. Yes, our birthday is only 10 days away from Wikipedia's. Yes, if this isn't that much of a big deal I'll shut up Somebetterusername (talk) 13:07, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Somebetterusername: idk, I do find it a great deal... although perhaps it's just because I'll also be 20 years old on 2024. I don't really know what we could do, though, considering I've only been here since last year. My best idea is making a retrospective about Uncyclopedia, but that should be done by someone who's been here since it's inception, and that's clearly not me. - @DaniPine3: I saw what Wikipedia did for it's 20th anniversary, just all pretty boring, derivative stuff. I managed to find one video and a little page on the celebration, which feels just SO ripe for spoofing. Don't have the resources to make a video but it could easily translate into a well-thought paragraph chunk. There's a part full of Wikipedia contributors that people could easily just put their own profiles with a stupid backstory and an equally stupid quote. A "key moments in Uncyclopedia history" blurb will definitely need a veteran to work but I don't think we track our views like Wikipedia so "Most viewed and edited Uncyclopedia articles by year, 2001 – 2025" can just easily be faked. "How to celebrate Uncyclopedia's birthday", etc.. Sure, 20 years is A LOT but you could probably condense it in one stupid page with links to other subarticles and get it front-page. Obviously these are just my far-fetched ideas and if anyone would like to say their ideas, definitely feel free to! The page btw - https://wikimediafoundation.org/wikipedia20/ Somebetterusername (talk) 14:33, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Somebetterusername: Well of course a Wikipedia anniversary is boring; it's Wikipedia, after all. Although I doubt Uncyclopedia's anniversary will be any more glamorous, mostly because these last years only a few people have been involved in the project, and most (like me) weren't here back when way more people were involved. But still, there's probably a better way we can celebrate it... I'll be tagging Alula and MrX to see if they have something to say on the matter. DaniPine3 (talk) 14:49, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- We could do a writing competition similar to the poo lit surprise from a couple years ago, @Shabidoo: any ideas? WPBS (ping for response) (talk) 17:47, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Definitely time for a happy monkey competition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ShabiDOO 00:38, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- ^cool I could be down for both competitions Somebetterusername (talk) 18:47, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- YES!!! Bad Motherfucker GET FUCKED! 18:47, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah; 20 years full of lots of funny (and I don't mean just stupid) articles and I don't know how to celebrate, either. Would anyone like to marathon the Zork trilogy or read this trainwreck? The trainwreck's full of my favorite featured articles from this wiki throughout the years! I just wonder if it's better or worse than Game:Zork3/v.s Jib... - I honestly suck at the Uncyclopedia Zork games, but Squaw Dee and I have been working on our own text adventure called Make it to Ketchikan, but I guess I’ll try to beat Zork 2 today. Oᑭöᔑᔑᙀᙏ (addicted) 03:26, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

What was your favorite featured article from the past 10 years, and what was your favorite featured article from the 1st 10 years? Ryan Woo-Ming (talk) 23:21, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
