Forum:Kanye "Doesn't Care About" West
I can't be the only one tired of these things. I propose that ALL Kanye West quotes be removed from all articles, except where the original quote, "George Bush doesn't care about black people." still applies IN ORIGINAL CONTEXT. It is the crutch of far too many bad articles and bad writers alike. Dzugavili 02:36, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I move to expand this to Steve "Fucking Kill™" Ballmer. And this was done in the past, but it's STILL FUCKING ANNOYING. —Hinoa KUN (talk) 02:53, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I am sick of the Ballmer and West quotes and agree with removing them. Some quotes are good, but some articles rely too much on them as the basis for humour. We should have a crackdown. --Hindleyite Talk 11:40, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think there may also be too many Soviet Russia quotes, although they are not as bad as Ballmer and West quotes, they are usually irrelevant to the article. In Soviet Russia, quotes delete YOU!! ~ 15:02, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- The Soviet Russia quotes, I must say, I find amusing in a greater variety of places, simply because it's a recurring template versus a recurring theme, and it's not personality driven. It doesn't need to be on every page, this is true; but if I read two pages with a Kanye quote, read five more that don't, and then come across another Kanye quote, it gets annoying. If I read two Soviet quotes, read five without, then come across another Soviet quote, as long as it's done well...it's hi-larious. I'm all for going on a quotehunt, but I'd suggest taking a finer-toothed comb to the personality-ganks over the straight-up comedy bits.Jayrod 05:42, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

- I've already made a point of smiting these wherever I find them, unless they really appear to fit into the article context. And, I hate Chuck Norris. ~ T. (talk) 15:06, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

SarcasmQuotes are the lowest form of wit.”
- See? Now THIS is a brilliant use of the form. Jayrod 05:42, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe we should have "Quote Fire Week"? Sorta like...well you all remember (if you don't remember yadda yadda yadda). --The Zombiebaron 01:33, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Hey, guys, since there seems to be some consensus here, I added their names to the "Take out the trash" section of Uncyclopedia:What_You_Can_Do. Mmmkay? --L 06:47, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, perfect. ~ 14:50, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Would it be worth having a 'bot remove *every* top-posted quote from the pages and move them all to the Wilde: namespace or to an Undictionary-style page created for the purpose. Or target every quote which contains "Kayne West", "kill Google" or a few other oft-repeated clichés? --Carlb 17:46, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Anyone who wants to remove stupid uses of quotes has my blessing, but not all uses are stupid. Even Kanye can be funny sometimes. Theoretically Ballmer might even by funny once or twice. Some othe quotes are genuinely great. ---Rev. Isra (talk) 20:43, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, we don't want a blanket removal of all these quotes regardless of context. Sometimes they fit the article. --User:Nintendorulez 22:51, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Anyone think something looking like this might make a nice template?

- Looool, I like it. Template:Awards/IJE - Sikon 16:48, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think there should be a different picture than the burninator template. But an award for something I've already done is a good idea. -- 12:44, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
I gave Kanye a good thrashing, the little girly girl. 230 pages down. Someone else can do that tit Steve. FreeMorpheme 21:30, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- I understand removing the Kayne quote on IWETHEY but why did you remove the Will Rogers quote as well? Was that a mistake or intentional? If intentional, why? Are you removing Will Rogers quotes as well? --2nd_Lt Orion Blastar (talk) 01:01, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- It is my august opinion that the easiest edit to make to a page is to throw in a rubbish quote instead of applying real thought. So there are hundreds of pages with lines and lines of dreck quotes at the head cluttering up the page. A couple of funny quotes is much better. HOWEVER, I delete them under the theory that they have been inserted by one-time users who will never return, and that if there is anyone watching the page that particularly likes a certain quote, they will just pop it back in. I have no intention of starting an edit war on them. FreeMorpheme 09:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- A pratical problem with this is you're going to get a lot of people who think that a free ticket to VFH stardom is by using quotes of any kind. Are you ready to achieve ideological purity for the sake of your soul. Sounds like we should call this GNUopedia, Commiepedia, Sovietopedia, TheFanaticalIntelligentWikipediansClubopeida or some such thing. --The Rt. Hon. BarryC MUN (Symposium!) Sigh. I restored the West quote to Cliché. The whole point of having it there is that it is a cliché itself. -- 23:20, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- Don't look at me, I left all the relevant ones, like Black helicopter and ones relating to cliche and unoriginality. I might do Ballmer next time my girlfriend puts Big Brother on the telly. FreeMorpheme 17:23, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ballmer's been moved into Killquote, at least template-wise. There may still be rogue quotes out there.Jayrod 02:15, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
