An open letter to the non-existent Cabal:

Ok, I get it, you want Wikia not to put adds on the site. As you know I have protested against this and I am against the move and the advertisements – this has been unanimous amongst the community and there’s no need to further debate on that. I am seriously petitioning you not to let the site be vandalised - letting the userbase and their work be attacked to make some point and to uphold your own authority and power is repugnant in my view – I think you’ve scored an own goal on this and you’ve lost standing on the matter – As I said to Mhaille last night ‘You’ve cut off your noses to spite your face’.

Now you discussed thing like a move to another server; I think you will have more drama and problems with that (Possibly more so than with Wikia) and I don’t think the whole Fight club Gandhi act is going to wash - This is no doubt known to you, you’re just trying to throw your toys out of the pram at the expense of the people you need most.

To move forward, discuss a move with us and implement it in a reasoned fashion or try and have a reasoned and adult dialogue with Wikia (they are after all paying for all of this). This is progress, not some petty little tantrum; I don’t care that you are pissed, I care that the site I have become so fond of is being trashed whilst a minority of students and misfits no better than myself are making some petty little point at my expense – along with the hard work of others which I have strived not only contribute but also to protect and help.

In conclusion, I’m disagreeing with you on your current course of action – I am doubtful that if this continues that I will want to be part of the site moving to another server, or any other outcome for that matter. This kind of drama is outside of my interest. I hope this is not seen as a personal attack or an attempt to undermine the Cabal.

Regards

I'm just going to come right out and say it. This is the single stupidest thing I have seen on this site, worse than all those QVFD articles we throw out all the time. By doing this we are throwing our (albeit tiny) credibility out the door and debasing ourselves. This has gone beyond a legitimate protest to a stupid tantrum and going all the way to immature self harm to get back at Wikia. Let's just say I have serious doubts over the people "running" the site now. --Sir DJ ~ Irreverent OZ! Noobaward.jpg Wotm.jpg Unbooks mousepad.PNG GUN.png 09:11, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Non action was very different to what has happened overnight, as far as I know there was no serious suggestion to open the gates to the crapfest that we have been met with this morning, and that would not have been a course of action that I would have supported in any way.
Just so you know, following a discussion with Wikia representatives, I think that the best approach would be to put all of the options that we have onto the Forum and let the community make its own mind up as to where it wants to reside and how it should function. In something as important as the future of the site and the community that creates it all decisions need to come from that community. It has been suggested that we put forward a "committee" to deal directly with Wikia in this matter, but its the voice of the contributors to the site that is the most important.
On a personal note, I've not put over 3 years of my life into this site to let it die now. Wikia were wrong in ignoring the wishes of the community but I'd have to agree with Sycamore that the course of action that some have sanctioned in response to that is ultimately self destructive. Uncyclopedia needs to find its voice now and decide on a way forward. Lets get all of the options together and see what the people want. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Agreed. I really can't stand back and see this place goes to hell. ~Jewriken.GIF 09:48, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Concur. Negotiation > Terrorism. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 09:58, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree, but I don't think we can negotiate with Wikia. I mean, the domain change forum didn't say "let's talk about the possibility of a domain change, weigh out the pros and cons, and make a decision as a community," it said "you're moving, pick a *.wikia domain." Ultimately, Wikia gets what they want, which puts us in a terrible position to try to reach any kind of agreement. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon.gif(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 04:30, Oct 25
Following your logic, Leddy, we should stop then this strike since it will not achieve anything other than destroying our house - and do a serious vote of who wants to move to another domain and willing to contribute to that and who here doesn't care as much. We can also decide to stay put with Wikia until and if they put ads on the website and then re discuss the whole issue. ~Jewriken.GIF 09:38, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Led has a point. Wikia already raped us. Not bathing isn't going to hurt wikia any, they already have what they want.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 11:49, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. More people need to use terms like "Fight Club Gandhi". Also, I just woke up and seem to have missed this "vandalism", although the whoever made the decision to unlock Mainpage to editing by anyone and everyone is a tool, unless that's what you're talking about in which case I was there. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 16:30, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

I think the actions that were taken were a direct result of the way the protest letter was worded. I had planned on peaceful, non-violent non-editing. I think we all would agree that the destruction and/or evisceration of the site is in no one's best interest. That being said, the strike is still on until some grownups (probably some of the more active admins/users) negotiate an acceptable truce with Wikia.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 12:00, 24 October 2008 (UTC) P. S. : I think lost in all of this is the fact that Wika's move is causing some real editing problems in its own right [1], which has been covered nicely by the vandalism.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 12:05, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Cutting off your nose is much more likely to get you some medical attention and faster, though.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 14:45 Oct 24, 2008
