Reset an article's rating?

Hello! I'm wondering if it's possible to reset an article's rating. The Salsa (music) article was previously marked for rewrite. Sucking balls

Series 7, 8, and that made-for-Dave mini series they're apparently qualifying as series 9 suck monumental amounts of balls. This is an established fact. Example 1: in series 6, the time drive moves them in time but not space, so they drink in the heady air of pre-renaissance deep space. In episode 1 of series 7, they mend the time drive (ignoring the fact this would mend the time line and allow their future selves to continue to exist and so attack and kill them and oh no I've gone crosseyed) and suddenly they can travel back to Dallas. On Earth. And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the whole fucking point that they're trying to get back to Earth? How many fucking stupid inconsistencies do you want in one episode? and as for Chloe Annette's pain in the fucking arse Kochanski... The best thing to come out of those last series was the "Can't Smeg Won't Smeg" promotional thing they did on BBC2's Red Dwarf night when they pissed Ainsley Harriot right off. Oh, and that Ace Rimmer bit with the princess Bonjela - that was OK. Apart from that, they sucked. You know this to be true. --UU - natter 11:36, Sep 1

Series 7 and 8 aren't so bad, I especially like the renewed chemistry between Rimmer and Lister in the eighth series. I agree the plot holes are absolutely massive and make no sense and the only good thing about "Back to Earth" was the bit where Rimmer pushes the female hologram in front of a bus. My love for series 7 and 8 is not for the resolutions they reach at the end, as I couldn't agree more it is exceptionally disappointing and doesn't really finish anything, but the Rimmer song, the tank in Pride and Prejudice world, the bit with Ace Rimmer and princess Bonjela and the illegal hooch drinking in prison are still the sort of thing I always watched Red Dwarf for. Also yes, I would have preferred if Kochanski hadn't come back, as I much prefer the 4 others bumbling their way through deep space, but she was more a mechanism for allowing more jokes. The time drive thing appeared with more potential than I suspect they anticipated when they did the gag about pre-renaissance space. It's not just the plot holes - they lost sight of the characters, for me, and the comedy became a lot more hit and miss. You can basically tell that it passed from writers who created it and cared about the characters and the entity as a whole, to a group of writers who just viewed it as a platform for their own gags. The history, for them, was an inconvenience, and they tried to reference it clumsily to "prove" they understood the series. But honestly, there were times when I felt I was watching a completely different series. Kochanski was a good example of this - to go from Claire Grogan's feisty lass that you could easily believe Lister falling for to Chloe Annette's humourless stuck-up mothering type that Lister wouldn't have touched with a barge pole... I couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to buy any of that. Basically, the moment series 7 started, Red Dwarf jumped the shark, for me, and the occasional glimmer of former glories was nowhere near enough to save it. I hope like hell that series 10 will get back to where it belongs, but I'm not holding my breath. --UU - natter 12:06, Sep 1

Since Rob Grant left the writing team I think they've been seriously lacking in the humour department. From reading their solo efforts it seems to me that Doug Naylor is better at coming up with interesting science fiction concepts, while Rob Grant's strength is the comedy. Oh dear. You're all wrong. Dave explains at the start of series 7 that when they destroyed the time drive they destroyed themselves (and in series 6 they explain that the time drive can catapult them to any point in space as well - with the short jump that they do when they first back in time but still drifting in space.) That put them in an alternate pocket dimension as they created a time-space paradox as the universe could no longer exist. They were also aware of the ramifications of using the time drive hence they could only use it for really responsible things, like going back to earth and purchasing a gigantic load of curries. Series 6 was the peak of the show, without a doubt, although Gunman and Backwards are still the best two episodes. The last scene of series 8 nearly didn't exist. The idea was that they were going to leave Rimmer in the ship as it destroyed and that was the end of the show. The last bit with Death was tacked on as a last minute addition (and I have a feeling it may have been Ed Bye in the Death suit, but I could be wrong.) Series 7 and 8 had some definite highlights - Rimmer world and Pride and prejudice world jump to mind. The biggest issue is Clair Grogan not coming back to do Kochanski - Chloe Annette was good, but the wrong person to fit out that character, and as such they had to lose some of the essential Daveness from Dave. Beyond a joke couldn't have been said to have been written by someone who didn't have the heart of the show - it was written by Robert Llewellyn, who doesn't have enough vowels. Series 9, on the other hand, was a mistake. Couple of cute concepts but Danny just couldn't be the cat that we'd all come to love any more - too many years had passed. But I will defend series 7 and 8 as valid aspects of the Dwarf series - including can't smeg won't smeg, and the mastermind challenge - as definite parts of the continuum. As for plot holes - for a comedy series it still has less plot holes than Star Trek Voyager, which I still think was an idea stolen from Red Dwarf. Hey, even the woman who played the role of the cat in the first ill-fated American Red Dwarf pilot episode was stolen to play Dax in Deep Space Nine! I may have just created an account, but I have been following Uncyclopedia for a while. It may have been funny in the beginning, but it's gone downhill. There are two reasons I believe for this: it has gotten too personal, and the only people who can contribute are the elites who have been from the start. Tower of Terror

Thanks for the review, sir. I do agree on your comments regarding my article, but one thing that bugs me is HTBFANJS; it's a little hard to implement, although I did try to exert some effort in making an Uncyclopedia article about the Tower. Would you mind if you teach me some techniques on writing Uncyc pages?

I made the article since no one bothered to write it up and stuff, and as a reaction to the film based on it, of which I think of it as a little campy and underrated. My review on babies

I just want to know something. I do admit to being confused about the article, but i did still give advise on how to improve whatever it was supposed to be.

Now if you reviewed an article on something that was nearly the EXACT REPLICA of another, how you you do it? I don't mean this as a snoby sentence i mean literally, how the hell are you supposed to do that.

My main problem was not with the content of what you said more the incoherent style of the review and that you weren't particularly constructive, when you say stuff like this: "This is the first time im ever actually able to COUNT the amount of jokes despite my ADD....1....2...3... I counted about 4 jokes. 2 made me giggle. Now I'm not trying to find every folly in your article, as Dr.Phil has said "You can't fix a problem you can't admit to"...actually it may have been "Drink off your worries, screw your liver", eh, tomAto tomato." it's not only hard to understand initially but it can quite upsetting to some writers who have worked very hard on what they have presented and while Socky may not be such a person I can assure you they do exist and I judged your review the way I did to make a point to you. If you truly don't understand what an article is about then there is nothing that says you cannot talk to the author, indeed, many will be quite happy to help if you ask them especially if it means they get more meaningful feedback. Truth is chief, no matter what you say, i always try to act (or type) naturally to the reader, so he/she don't just think they are some idiot. If i just point out their mistakes and don't put on a smile, it can make them really think that they suck.

That's the way I have, and always will review...although i admit, i went overboard on this one, truthfully, I wanted to make it look longer to be considered In-Deapth for Pee Week... I really just want a damn thingy on my user page, and i wont be able to do that many more reviews.

Now other than that one time, is there anything else that i did that even I would consider "over the top".

I'm all for people making their reviews their own, my main issue with yours is that the way it was written made it difficult to discern the meaning, as for writing off the top on your head to make people feel better about their work then I would say 'more than one way to skin a cat' you can make the writer feel at ease simply by criticising constructively, you are more likely to annoy people if they can't tell what you are saying. I have reviewed articles for most active users on the site and I have found that while I can take them knowing some things for granted, I still endeavour to explain my point of view to them fully as when you write it isn't knowing how to do things, it's knowing when and why to do them. As for being more friendly, I try to be as friendly as possible in my reviews since anyone who has written an article has the aim of making the site better one way or another. --Chiefjustice3DS 21:02, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Easy response to that is the ICU tag is allowed to be removed if the author thinks the page has been edited to where the ICU no longer applies. A lot of Uncyclopedians seem to have forgotten this in their quest to "improve the site." Not fully knowing the circumstances, I do believe Chief should have explained to the guy why the ICU is there and possible ways to improve the article rather than just re-adding the ICU and then banning the guy when he removed the ICU again. Well, in this case I would suggest this over operating like insane robots who must obey the blessed regulations. Since the article is clearly not pants and I suspect most of the reason behind the Pee review requirement is to prevent people nominating their crap one line stub article for VFH and then being utterly shocked when it fails and people vote against with reasons like "Pile of shite" and ultimately leave the site. We prefer to let reviewers say that something is shit in a constructive manner rather than fall back on the reliable critique's of against voters. I just now saw that you reviewed My Daddy Has Two Yachts (even though I've done some editing on it the last couple of days). Thank you! I've never had a Chief review before, and your in-depth analysis is very welcome. I'll try to follow much of your advice, although I'll have to mull over how to make the first read more understandable. I do tend to tie-in the entire article, things at the end relating to data at the start, etc. Was glad you liked it on a second read, that, to me at least, is a sign of a good article but I will have to let it flow a bit more at the beginning. Ah, I miss this place. First I got busy collaborating on a book which took virtually all of my writing time and energy, and then I got in an accident and broke my hand and couldn't type much for a while. I guess it's the Uncyclopedia curse. My hand still isn't working all that great, but I can type again, which means I'm back on the book. Just wanted to stop in and say hi. "Hi!" The front page was reskinned yesterday, as it is occasionally when we fancy it. As for why it doesn't look like wikipedia anymore that is because wikipedia changed their skin and we are low budget so haven't gotten round to making any changes/deciding whether we want any changes. The images won't resize because the originally uploaded image is far too small, you cannot resize an image that is 125 × 150 pixels to 900 pixels. My advice would be to search for some larger images, remember to list any images you uploaded and do not use on QVFD. QVFD is the process by which users can have an administrator delete an article that is either horrendous (one line long, cyberbullying, vanity etc) or can request that pages they created themselves, that they have decided they do not want any more, be deleted. You simply need to move the page to a new title, this can be accomplished using the move tab found at the top of the page when you are looking at an article. Click on that and then simply type the changed title into the box and follow the instructions. I did something worth a damn! Now what?

Hey Chief, long time and stuff. Just dropped in to say I made this thing which will display age in years and days. I stole a lot of it from Wikipedia, which makes it extra special. What it does is allows you to put in any date and it will show the time elapsed up to the current day. For instance, you have been an Uncyclopedian for &000000000000001500000015 years, &0000000000000283000000283 days. I know, it's freaking amazing. My question is, where do I move it to in order to make it accessible to all. There are several formulas, (six I think) that all tie in to make it work. So I would have to move all of them. Plus, they would have to be protected because if anyone changes even 1 thing in any of them, the whole thing falls apart. I must share this gift with the world! I didn't even know that existed! Mine is a little different because it's not a user box. It's simply a line of code that can be placed anywhere. For instance, if you were writing an article on cheeze whiz or something, and wanted to say that Cheeze whiz has been around for exactly (insert insane knowledge of cheeze whiz here) you could simply use the line of code and it will auto update daily. Surely the information lies in knowing when something was set up rather than how long it has been since it was set up. For instance if I was saying when World War 2 finished surely I would say "World War 2 finished on the 2nd of September 1945" rather than "World War 2 finished &000000000000007800000078 years, &0000000000000217000000217 days ago". It just seems to me that the use of the template is very specific and I can't actually come up with a practical application on the site. I suppose it could be useful in infoboxes to find out how long a particular group has been active, but even then you can usually just say active from: 2008- which symbolises that something is still going. Nothing for you to apologise for Lyrithya, I was young once... so very long ago, only thing is that Ban Patrol is an official page and when you have about 6 vandals contribs to check through and you come across a user who added themselves for a giggle you can feel slightly less than charitable. Requests from indefinitely banned users can be removed. As for the maintenance stuff, as I always say, yes have a go if you feel you are incomplete not doing it, but it's more work than it is worth and if you are reviewing stuff I would rather you did that. After all while it is much easier to chalk up the number of Woolly Mammoths ones tribe has trapped this month, it is a pointless exercise unless someone actually goes and traps one. The default revert message (Reverted edits by EVILTOSSER to last edit by Someguy) appears when someone uses rollback which reverts all edit by one contributor in one click. If you want it then you need to do a fair bit of maintenance and speak very nicely to Mordillo as only Bureaucrats can grant rollback rights. Got your message, Chief. I tried a few times, but just can't do it, mainly because my take on humor often requires a completely new approach, and nobody wants to hear that. Like, one guy did an article on that cat who starred in Avatar, Sam Worthington. Anyway, I suggested to the writer that his article sounded just like Wikipedia, (except the guy calls him a shit actor - that was the writer's 'envious' and unfunny angle). I said he should mix up the actor with his characters. Like, for me it's not funny that, for example, John Belushi was an actor - duh! But it is funny that Belushi was an Albanian American Blues singer, a member of the original Blues Brothers, and a fellow Mission of God Activist. Besides singing the blues, Belushi was also a Japanese Samurai delicatessen butcher, a college Animal House 'zit', a Toga Party campaigner, a National Guard fighter pilot, a stand-in Captain for the Starship Enterprise, a bit part actor of little consequence on the original cast of "Saturday Night Live", and finally, a dead-as-a-doornail speed-ball junkie jockey who was thrown from his horse and died at the young-old age of thirty-three. But this guy wanted his Sam Worthington article to be a wikipedia clone with a few swear words - just a jealous put down. I couldn't help the guy because his whole approach was not even remotely funny. In fact, it was pathetic. And that's the case every time I try. So that's why I don't help as much as I should. But I am making collaborations with different great writers, and pumping out a lot of nonsense content for this heavenly abode. So I hope that makes up for the weakness. "Telugu language" was moved to its present name last January. I came in just later but thought the change added clarity. This article is one of several that continually attract a certain vandal, who may have been back this week in a new incarnation, who is obsessed with Teletubbies or anything that sounds like it. He or other Anons who visit this page will not be improving it.

Thanks for deleting the page Stephanie Konkas. Even though she hasnt been around for awhile so she doesnt have a thousand websites devoted to her cuz she still small time, but trust me one way or another if not this site she will have a page like this on the internet, and as for your summary edit for deleting the page stating "this is not wikipedia's trash bin", well wikipedia is more popular than this site and the only reason why I joined this was because I thought this site would be a bit smoother than wikipedia, but its all the same policed by mean & coldhearted administrators, if it wasn't for the fact I didnt have sources to back the information up on her than she would be on wikipedia looking big and proud. As for this site I quit this site cuz administrators have no feel for creative writing of good articles.

I was wondering how to be as annoying as possible, and then figured I'd just lump all my weird questions and requests into one talkpage comment...

I didn't actually ask this earlier for some reason, and I'm sorry I didn't. What do you, as you, actually think of my writing that article about... er... you? Do you mind, object, etc? If so, please tell me and I'll not.

On what may or may not be a more pressing note... while you're almost always an absolutely top-notch on-top-of-things admin when you're here, sometimes there just plain isn't anyone. This is kind of disconcerting and annoying when there be vandals and the only thing to do is follow them around reverting them until they give up, and I'm not actually that much of a fan of doing that, and only sometimes are nice fellows like SPIKE and Socky and Ajraddtz or whatever that guy's name is that likes to go around cleaning up for no apparent reason around... and on top of everything, it just feels like admins are disappearing. Are you guys disappearing?! Or is everyone disappearing? Urg. Anyway, my point is, could you please start up a VFS, see what the others say? Maybe? I know I have no right to actually ask this, but... er... please? If it's a no at either point, I guess I'll be perfectly happy to keep nominating roadkill for sandwich, though.

And of course, something I'm sure you wanted to hear more about... you remember the drama regarding Unrelated Quote Guy? It seems Fonchezzz really wants it back, but he's been going about it all wrong - beyond asking, demanding, bringing his friends into it, even trying to raise an army of sorts on Illogicopedia, something which never ends well. THE seemed to agree, too... or maybe he was just saying how much he likes aardvarks; I'm honestly not rightly sure. But anyway, I believe my point is, this has pressed me into coming over and begging that you restore it in some form as some kind of personal favour, whatever that means, before Fonchezzz does something incredibly stupid, as I would have to put up with the consequences on both wikis and that could get incredibly annoying. So please, I implore you, will you temporarily restore the Unrelated Quotes Guy to a related userspace? I know I already asked for another strange restoration, and I know you had your reasons for refusing in the first place with this one, but this... just... please.

As far as the VFS thing goes, my feeling is that there are still enough admins, and I wouldn't want to start a VFS vote when I don't personally believe it is necessary. As Mordillo is fond of saying, we could op the whole userbase and a vandal would still find a time to get through when nobody was watching, all adminly functions, VFH, ban patrol, VFD, QVFD, Maintenance categories are all checked in good time and vandals are usually banned within a couple of hours. If you are looking for an improvement on a couple of hours you might want to consider paying us to be here as it is the only way to ensure that kind of efficiency. As far as the Unrelated Quote Guy thing goes, Fonchezzz needs to consider talking to me before he starts raising armies to march on my home/village etc. I'm actually quite a reasonable person, Mhaille is slightly more reasonable but I digress. As the good Chief has already highlighted I already dealt with this issue following a request on The's talkpage. However I don't take well to bullies and threats so I am seriously considering removing the said page. Any sort of vandalism, trolling and general asshattery will be met with the usual methods regardless of the who/why/where. On the matter of VFS I still think we have more active admins than needed, if people want to keep up their activity in attempts to "prove" otherwise then its a waste of their time and effort far more than it is ours. -- Sir Mhaille  (talk to me)

Because you are still failing to comprehend the rules, you uploaded a poor image and put it in several articles, if you look through the featured articles you will note that few contain excessive swearing or blatantly pornographic material. You need to understand that humour can be subtle as well and just writing nonsense doesn't necessarily make something funny, it's good for a quick laugh but it wears very quickly and very few uncyclopedians enjoy articles written like that. If you see more subtle humour or satire as not the best thing for you then you could consider checking out illogicopedia which may be more to your taste. The maintenance table is there so we can keep a log of every review that is done, and judge them in-depth or not in-depth, it is our way of identifying when a reviewer has provided enough, or conversely not enough criticism on an article. Yours was borderline not in-depth as I thought you could have expanded on some of your points a bit more; if someone is doing something wrong suggest ways they could do it better, demonstrate how they could do that. I realise it is challenging when you personally enjoy an article, but you should really try to identify anything that could be an improvement as not everyone will enjoy the article, and you should try to identify reasons why.
