User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days

This template returns the number of full years and surplus days between two specified dates. If the second set of parameters is not included, it will return the number of full years and surplus days between a specified date and today's date. The two numbers are separated by a comma; the words "year" and "day" are plural when appropriate.

Syntax:

{{User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days|year1|month1|day1|year2|month2|day2}} or

{{User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days|year1|month1|day1}}

Examples:

{{User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days|1989|07|23|2003|07|14}} returns "&000000000000001300000013 years, &0000000000000356000000356 days"

{{User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days|1989|07|23}} returns "&000000000000003400000034 years, &000000000000009500000095 days"

{{User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days|1989|07|23|1990|07|24}} returns "&00000000000000010000001 year, &00000000000000010000001 day"

When using this template to calculate a person's age at death or a person's age on a specified date (rather than the person's current age), please substitute it into the page.

Note:

This template does not check for incorrect input:

{{User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days|1980|07|14|1993|06|233}} returns "&000000000000001200000012 years, &0000000000000554000000554 days" (surplus days do not count as extra months)

{{User:John Lydon/Template/Age in years and days|1980|07|14|1993|88|14}} returns "&000000000000001300000013 years, &00000000000024710000002,471 days" (surplus months do not count as extra years)

Note also that due to leap years the measure "years and days" fails to be fully additive. The following example is not an error, but each calculation uses a different definition of "year", either 365 days or 366:

but split up:
