At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Strangeman70/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.
If the current colonization doesn't suit your fancy, then browse our rewrite and idea categories. We have lots of articles just sitting around for someone to improve, so don't be afraid - dive right in!
If you need help, ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply leave a message on an adopter's talkpage to join. Again, welcome! -- -- The Zombiebaron 02:49, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
User:Strangeman70/UnNews:Strangeman's report on newfound alternate reality[edit source]
Hi. Normally I wouldn't do this, but the guy who usually does is apparently off sleeping or something... I've moved your article into your userspace, as it is clearly not a proper news piece - it does not seem to concern a particularly newsy subject, in fact doesn't exactly make just what the subject is entirely apparent, though it's clearly made up (not inherently a problem, but doesn't help matters), doesn't read like news, doesn't follow UnNews guidelines... basically, it's just not good as it is. Please, read UnNews:About and check out the style guide; hopefully those will help you to do better in the future as well as perhaps work on this one in your userspace; you may well be able to get it up to standards.
SPIKE, the surrogate Chief, may be able to tell you more, though - I'll give him a buzz. ~ -- 04:42, 3 January, 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, that sums it up. Needs to read like news, needs a photo, needs a new title without your name in it! You have a point to make, but in UnNews, we make it by "reporting" "neutrally" on events and leading the reader to it, not by stating it. And--keep it funny. Let me know if I can help.
