Template talk:Q
This template is not XHTML-compliant. To correct it, <br> should be replaced with <br />. - Sikon 11:09, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
hey, uh ... how do you copy this to another wiki? what other templates do you need? --165.173.126.142 14:31, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- You need Template:If if you want to copy this over exactly. —Hinoa KUN (talk) 14:33, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Change Quotations[edit source]
It should look like
“Text”
instead of:
"Text"
--FlareNUKE 23:05, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Um, no. Those curly quotes are fucking 18th century gay. 69.241.164.230 02:14, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
something looks screwy[edit source]
EvilRank now says ""In Communist China, google searches YOU!!" ~ Russian Reversal on Google" for some reason. It looked fine yesterday. User:Algorithm's latest edit to Template:Q screwed something up. --Nerd42eMailTalkUnMetaWPediah2g2 20:52, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
No longer imitates Wikipedia[edit source]
This template on Wikipedia was finally deleted on Tuesday, after months of near-disuse. Thus, by keeping this template, Uncyclopedia is following its original goal -- a recognizable parody of Wikipedia -- less and less. Seahen 20:12, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Nobody cares. --Splaka 05:00, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Alternatively, by keeping it, we are parodying WP more and more. Every stupid thing that WP XfD's ought to be kept here, the lamer the better. 69.241.164.230 02:16, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm...talking about parodying I've always thought it would be cool to have a section of the website which has the Wikipedia logo in the top left and looks exactly like wikipedia, but contains like slightly altered pages of wikipedia, it would be funny causing so many people to fails exams. :D Anyway this isn't really the place to discuss that. - Sir FSt. (QotF BFF NotM) YTTE

Random quotes[edit source]
Kalir told me I should ask here about a problem I was having with the quotes. For some reason the quotes act funny when I use the <choose> and <option> tags. Example: ~ Oscar Wilde {{#if:AlexJohnc3|on AlexJohnc3}} (see my userpage). Thanks for the help! AlexJohnc3 Complain F@H Fx2 22:25, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Example two: Pot vs. Kettle article AlexJohnc3 Complain F@H Fx2 13:31, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- That's probably because the {{#if... part is a parser function, and is not parsed inside <choose> tags. I've added an option to the template to ignore the use of parserfunctions and use your own text instead. See the usage on the template's page for how to use it. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 02:45, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm afraid this problem's too widespread to be solved with a hack like that (at least not without editing dozens of pages to make it work right), so I've reverted to a template-based solution for the time being. The inability to parse parserfunctions is almost certainly a bug in my extension, which I will endeavor to correct quickly. --Algorithm 06:24, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Change to parser function[edit source]
Replace:
{{if|
with:
{{#if:
- Read above. A lot of quotes are included within <choose> tags, and parser functions break inside those. Until that bug's fixed, we'll be keeping the templated if. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 02:46, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Quote use rules[edit source]
I was wondering if you could add some rules for using this template to make sure that people use it correctly. I've written my own rules, as follows:
- One quote is enough for an article
- Don't fill up the page with quotes
- If you spam quotes, you will be banned
That's the best I could write at the moment. -- 22:53, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also, leave the genuinely funny quotes and delete the unfunny ones. If you delete a quote and someone puts it back in, they probably think it was funny, so consider removing one of the other quotes before you delete it again JayKeaton 09:21, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Quote Size[edit source]
Hey, I've always had a little bit a problem with the tinyness of the quote template, so I've often ended up just in-closing the whole template in <big> tags. But it would be better, I think, if that was done this end, and someone just made the text etc. bigger, so you can read it...- Sir FSt. (QotF BFF NotM) YTTE
- YES. I came here to comment on this, too. I always have to put my nose to the monitor and squint to read it. It would be cool if it wasn't in italics. --Snafu 07:32, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
Source parameter[edit source]
I would like to add a parameter for quote source, usually an external link. (Example.) Without proper citations, this wiki could lose credibilty. / A hog staring at a wristwatch 14:20, February 22, 2010 (UTC)
