MagCon
MagCon (also spelled MAGCON, or Magcon, short for Make America Great Convention) was an event featuring young stars (predominantly male, for the most part) that lasted between 2013 and 2017. These group of boys were famous on the social media app Vine. First founded in September 2013, some entrepreneur that nobody gave a shit about met with an internet personality named Aaron Carpenter, who said that he was going to the mall and impress some of his Instagram followers, who are mostly female. Other social media personalities other than Carpenter included Matt Espinosa, Carter Reynolds, Hayes and Nash Grier, Shawn Mendes (who ended up being the only successful person to come out of MagCon, by the way), Taylor Caniff, Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky (better known as Jack & Jack), Jacob Whitesides, Cameron Dallas (arguably the most popular member of MagCon until he left, in which nobody cared afterwards) and Mahogany LOX. In 2014, a year after MagCon was established, the Griers, Dallas and Reynolds decided to leave MagCon. In a similar event that happened to Justin Bieber and One Direction fans, 4chan coerced fans of the event to cut themselves, thus the hashtag #cutformagcon trended online.
Members[edit | edit source]
Jack & Jack (Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky)[edit | edit source]
Jack & Jack (born March 24, 1996 and September 10, 1996 respectively for Johnson and Gilinsky) are singers that initially gained infamy on Vine. At the time they were both 17 years old when they started out. They are from the state of Nebraska, which one can assume that they are twins as they live with each other. However, they have different birth dates. Both Jacks went on to have a somewhat semi-successful music career after Magcon. However, unlike Shawn Mendes, their music career peaked in 2018, and they somewhat became forgettable afterwards. Their most streamed song on Spotify is "Fall", which is actually a song by Jonas Blue that featured them. If you count their most popular song featuring them as the lead artist, it would be "Somebody Contrasts With Me".
Their hobbies are hanging out with friends, meeting new people and Vining. Their favorite shows are tosh.0, South Park and The Walking Dead. They are known to like comedy, action and horror movies and they like listening to reggae, ska and hip-hop music.
Shawn Mendes[edit | edit source]
Since he has an article here on Uncyclopedia, we won't give you too much on who he is post-MagCon simply because he is the more famous one out of them. Mendes is notable for being the only non-American member of MagCon, as he is from Canada, and was 15 years old when he joined. He is also a singer, like Jack & Jack. He is also known to start on Vine like the other members, Newer Mendes Army members won't know that he was in MagCon. The irony is that a Canadian somehow manages to be more popular than the other members, who are American themselves. If you really want to know more about him, just simply read his article here. Everyone else other than him doesn't get their own Uncyclopedia article because nobody cared afterwards. Unless someone here who knows them well does...
Mahogany LOX[edit | edit source]
Mahogany LOX (real name Mahogany Gordy, born October 5, 1994) is the only female in MagCon. She was 18 years old when she joined MagCon. Her family members are very famous, but she's not as famous as them. Her grandfather, Berry Gordy, founded Motown Records. Her sister, Skyler is part of a group called LMFAO which you may have heard their songs before. She tried her hands at music and she doesn't get a lot of listeners online, unlike LMFAO which somehow managed to be successful before they fell off and broke up. Her music has been compared to Cardi B. As such, because of these facts, she is considered to be the "nepo baby of MagCon". She is from Michigan and also has the same birthday as Aaron Carpenter.
Aaron Carpenter[edit | edit source]
Aaron Carpenter (born October 5, 1998) is the leader of MagCon. He is known to have a sense of humor amongst the MagCon group. He founded and pitched the idea of MagCon in a shopping mall, so he's completely responsible for creating all this. Like most of the group, he lives in Los Angeles. However, if you look at the MagCon Tumblr page, it says that he lives in Louisiana. Since then, he has gotten married. He also shares the same birthday with Mahogany LOX.
Nash and Hayes Grier[edit | edit source]
The Griers (born December 28, 1997 for Nash and June 8, 2000 for Hayes) are brothers from North Carolina. They are also Vine comedians. Both of them went separate ways since MagCon dissolved. Nash went on to become an actor, while nobody knew where Hayes went. So, if you want to look at it at a technical standpoint, based on fame alone, Nash is probably the more popular one, and joined the group when he was 16 years old. That's basically pretty much it for them.
Taylor Caniff[edit | edit source]
Taylor Caniff (born February 3, 1996) is from Indiana. After MagCon disbanded, the only time you know he exists is if you use Instagram frequently. Apparently he recently became a marketer for other companies like Airbnb unlike the other members, who would go on to either become singers, actors or continue have their lives posted online. Basically, he has a pretty normal job for someone who used to entertain people on Vine.
Matthew Espinosa[edit | edit source]
Matthew Espinosa (born July 7, 1997) is the most stalked out of all of the MagCon members. You thought Shawn Mendes was the most stalked one. But apparently, Espinosa is the one who caused a riot at a mall in Virginia. He even disguised himself at VidCon in 2015, however people realized it was him and they mobbed him. His favorite color is blue. Since then, he has become an actor like Nash Grier, but he's become a B-lister.
Carter Reynolds[edit | edit source]
Carter Reynolds (born May 24, 1996) is another social media star that nobody cares about. Seriously, you think there was going to be a detailed description about him? Think again. Unless you are or were a fan of him, you might as well just put some info about him there. Yeah, he fell off.
Cameron Dallas[edit | edit source]
Cameron Dallas (born September 8, 1994) is one of the oldest MagCon members, along with Mahogany LOX since they somehow manage to share the same birth year. He apparently had a terrible documentary about MagCon and the other members. All along, he was popular throughout the 2010s and that was it. His favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate cookie dough. He apparently not only became an actor and a singer, but also a model as well. Turns out that none of these careers managed to take off.
Jacob Whitesides[edit | edit source]
Jacob Whitesides (born November 11, 1997) is another singer that also didn't gain the same popularity as Shawn Mendes. He apparently made the first cut of The X Factor. He is from Tennessee. Other than that, he doesn't have a lot of monthly listeners on any streaming platform. There's nothing left to say about him other than that.
Post-MagCon career[edit | edit source]
All original members except for Shawn Mendes fell off afterwards. Some members attempted acting and/or singing with mild to no success. There are also other members that joined in who became popular from Musical.ly at first, but nobody cared about them. MagCon the entire time was a confusing mess of who joined and who left the group, with other influencers popping in and out every tour stop.
