Forum:Downward Spiral: An Essay On Uncyclopedia by an IP
Okay, this may be my first time here but the impressions of this place does not seem good. Uncyclopedia, what happened to you, you used to be cool! Looking at her past glory, this used to be the place where humor would roam free and the community seemed to be really interesting and unique. Now the community has degraded into what appears to be another online community that's trying to regain the luster of the past. If Oscar Wilde & Sophia were alive and looking at this, they would be ashamed of what this place had become. Now all the community seems to be are people looking for stuff they could run into the ground, people who like the word gay, people who are just acting childish. I would of expected more maturity from a humor community but... whatever.
Mostly all you people seem interested in is Drama and creating a lot of it, I mean this might as well become a drama wiki instead of a "humor" wiki as this is supposed to be a place where things are less serious and much more absurd. Every time some in-joke or meme comes in that involves flaming, spamming, or some part of human genitalia. You easily find it funny cause people flaming other people is automatically considered humor. Yet when there is a point where drama can easily be caused, you create it, you turn it up to the next level. Having people flame each other, having people turn their brains off. You just love seeing the fire just to laugh at it. Even when the author wants that article deleted, even though it's his request, you ignore it and complain about how your "favorite" article is being deleted and then ban him for causing drama, even though you didn't mean to. You start drama even when another user who's been disqualified, you're saying how he's was supposed to win. Even when the other user proposed a solution where everyone gets their way, you just accuse the guy of being heartless and evil and say he's riding off the situation instead of discussing it out. People over here just love to see flamewars, and that's a problem for me. Also you seem to blame users for stuff instead of investigating why they left, and that really destroys the integrity of Uncyclopedia.
I also see there is some sort of problem with articles. Mostly this place can take a toll if one wanted to prove their writing skills, I feel that the community only wants to appreciate writers who can constantly churn out 8-14 featured articles instead of the articles in which people are constantly trying to make good but turn a blind eye too. Sure there's Pee Review but it isn't enough. Also this place can take it's toll on ideas, looking back, most people were able to create 1-2 articles before giving up, which makes me sad because I feel that these people are capable of more. We need more people helping out on articles and looking back, I did see that they did something like that but we need more writers creating and rewriting content. Those articles that need to be rewritten has been left untouched for months. We need more people to teach people how to be writers and that way we can get much more quality articles and we also need much, much, much, much, much more confidence in our users.
Also you seem to be loosing your edge and style at the same time. I mean why are you using "Judgement Day" as a replacement for infinite, I mean you seem to be making yourself more generic and more like other wikis. You're supposed to be a Wikipedia parody, not just another wiki. This is just a minor concern but you should try to parody Wikipedia a little more, if you're already doing that then push it to the edge. I'm just saying you should parody Wikipedia more. So in short, cut it out with the overacting and drama and think stuff out, discuss it, don't go acting like the 1992 LA Riots that happened a long time ago, just think it out. Also give out n00bs and writers much more support and confidence, give them more choices, don't make them short out at 2 articles and so.. I don't know, I'm just an IP so you might not take me seriously but... meh.
Also no drama in the conversation please. Thank you so much for reading. --67.169.77.113 20:36, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Judgement day for infinite is good, but it's still not as good as if they put "When This page does not exist exists." Judge Adriano "Legal" Zarbi Talk! 20:38, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- And we used to get a better class of IP, who would tell us that we were the worst, or that we should go eat shit fuckers. IP, what happened to you? -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- But Mhaille, you have to realize that that was back when we actually did eat shit fuckers. And IP, you should get an account. You're the kind of person that we need to dig us out of this...whateveritis...that we've dug for ourselves in the fecund soil of Uncyclopedia with our spades of drama. I assume that it's a hole. It's a good hole, too. Very earthy. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:21, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- So let me get this straight... the IP wants us to suddenly realize that our wiki, as it is, is not up to par with its former glory, because of some perceived drama, like that time when whatsisface requested something, and we're all so cruel and enjoy gigantic forum arguments so much that we didn't do it, and now we suck somehow, and also we have a metric fuckton of shitty pages that nobody is doing anything with that this forum post is going to singlehandedly rally the entire userbase to suddenly fix and make perfect because we secretly were just waiting for someone to tell us to because that whole conservation week thing doesn't really count. Yeah, alright. I'll tell you what, Mr. or Mrs. IP: If you wanna see some articles fixed up, go and do it. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon (Tick Tock) (Contribs) 22:54, Oct 26
My experience with Uncyclopedia:
- WHAT THE FUCK?!
- lol
- I should write an article
- Wow article writing is fun yea
- Woah there are some awesome people around these parts
- This is fun because everybody's writing
- This isn't so fun because no one's writing anymore
- At least the forums are good ya... no, wait... drama...
- At least IRC is entertaining... no wait... the awesome people aren't on anymore and discussion is replaced by idiots who don't even write on the site whining about their lives (and telling me how to live mine)...
- Why am I sticking around a by-nc-sa site, even if I come up with a really good idea I can never sell it (i.e. use it in a novel) later on
- Some people really piss me off on here
- Why not keep in contact with the people I like, continue to work on this site maintenance-wise, but move onto other larger projects that don't work in the Wiki format?

- The problem, you see, is that you never ate shit fuckers. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:25, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nay, the problem lies with Uncyclopedia, which is, in its most natural state, inherently The Worst. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon (Tick Tock) (Contribs) 23:01, Oct 26
- I think that you'll find, if you graph it out, that the two variables are inherently interrelated. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 23:14, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

- I'd just like to point out that point #10 is wrong - if you wrote something and licensed under CC-BY-NC-SA, you can still do whatever you like with it, including sell it. The copyright is still yours, but is released under much freer terms than most copyrighted stuff. So yeah. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 03:33, 27 Oct 2008
- O_O Really? Well damn. Suddenly I have a renewed interest in testing out writing here. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 03:37 Oct 27, 2008
Oh and IP: You start out by saying you just got here, and then your one and only contribution is to complain about how much better uncyclopedia used to be in the old days, without ever even editing anything else? Something tells me... sock. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 03:33, 27 Oct 2008
- Thanks! I've been looking for that one. The polka-dotted ones are the warmest. Also, I interpreted "here" as "posting in the forums" personally. Y'know, like, long time reader first time essayist? – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 03:35 Oct 27, 2008
Yep
I agree with this bloke 100%. However, do I care enough fert do anythin abaet it? Nope. See ya later, I'm getting some tea. -- Hindleyite Converse • ?pedia 13:48, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
