Forum:UnRecipes
Dear Uncyclopedians,
On the Uncyclomedia website, I've been running a demo project for a few days called UnRecipes. The discussion about it is going on here. I was hoping to move it to Uncyclopedia under a namespace, but the staff refuses to give me one without community consent. So, consent with me, community.
From,
Airhogs777 (t)
- First off, uncyclomedia, also called UnMeta, hasn't had anything to do with this wiki since about mid 2006. Second, the idea isn't broad enough to support a whole namespace. Perhaps you could try combining several recipes into a "cookbook" style article, the individual recipes are too short for a whole article was they are now. --Mn-z 22:17, January 20, 2011 (UTC)
- We already have something called UnCookbook (though it's not that popular, it seems), so creating UnRecipes would be kinda redundant. 22:33, 20 January 2011
- Got it. I now understand. —Preceding signed comment added by Airhogs777 (talk • contribs • WP) 22:34, January 20, 2011 (UTC)
- I think it's a good idea. Just because one person disagrees with it does not mean he/she speaks for the entire community (no offense Mnbvcxz) and therefore I believe everybody (including the lazy ones) have the right to express their opinion before a decision is made.--If you're 555 then I'm 00:06, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

- But Sockpuppet's got a point, the idea is already sort of in place. —Preceding signed comment added by Airhogs777 (talk • contribs • WP) 01:49, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmmmmm.Well, just make a better version of UnCookbook. It's not popular anyways, so maybe you can spice things up, even chnage the name to UnRecipes (you may need permission to do so, unless the creator is lazy and hasn't been here for like a year). And despite his point, Socky is still a poo poo head.--If you're 555 then I'm 01:53, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
So then, I guess I'll just wait for a few more supporters and then... what? Should I request a new namespace or just build on the cookbook?
- It's your choice. Do whatever you want.--If you're 555 then I'm 03:06, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Another option for writing recipes on Uncyclopedia is to collect them in an UnBook, such as the wildly popular UnBooks:The Anarchist Cookbook. -- The Zombiebaron 02:58, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- The UnCookbook that Sockpuppet mentioned was an UnBook, I meant expanding on that into a whole sub-project namespace. See the demolet I've been running, here on Uncyclomedia. —Preceding signed comment added by Airhogs777 (talk • contribs • WP) 03:14, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Uncyclopedia already has far too many sub-projects. -- The Zombiebaron 04:19, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Most of them are dead. Mmmm, dead sub-projects... so much fun. ~ 04:28, 21 January 2011

- So, you don't want me cluttering your site up with my account or yet another namespace, that's what you're saying? Well, god forbid that ever happens. I'm starting to get the feeling that 333 was right, maybe you are all poo-poo heads! (pardon my French) —Preceding signed comment added by Airhogs777 (talk • contribs ) 06:11, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry for getting all emotional back there, I realize that criticism is good and bad. And sorry about the pee review thing, ChiefJustice. —
- Perhaps you could petition wikia for your own UnRecipies wiki, and then we could link to your wiki from our wiki? This would be similar to Uncyclopedia's relationship with UnAnswers. -- The Zombiebaron 07:19, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

Wikia already lets you start your own wiki, no reason to petition. But it's still less work to stay on the UnMeta site. I'd prefer an Uncyclopedia namespace over either, but you obviously don't. —
- The problem with one-man projects is that they almost invariably die when that one person leaves. Uncyclopedia is a ship with no rudder. It works best that way.
- The simplest way to do it without making a namespace just for it is to use the title hack (example: {{title|UnRecipes: Meat}}) and add an "UnRecipes" category at the bottom of each page. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 10:22, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- If no-one but 333 supports me, then I guess I'll have to leave. —
- Aw, you don't have to be like that. I just gave you an easy way to guaranteed fame and fortune, and you go all pouty on us. There there. There there. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 13:04, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- If no-one but 333 supports me, then I guess I'll have to leave. —
- It's just that I've already got several recipes there, no point in bothering to move them if it's not a more official thing. —
- We try to avoid official things here. Too official. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 14:13, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Usually the unofficial ones turn out better, anyhow... I mean, have you seen UnReviews? Compare that to... er, I dunno. What have we got that is official, anyhow? ~ 18:07, 21 January 2011

- All I want is enough people agreeing with me to convince the Wikia staff that the community's okay with an UnRecipes: namespace. I guess I could do what Moduso said, though. —
- Like Socky said, we already have an UnCookbook section, which is more or less the same thing as UnRecipes. (I also stand by my previous statement that the UnRecipes are probably too short for an individual article.) I'd rather see existing projects revived and expanded than new and redundant projects created then forgotten about. --Mn-z 02:46, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

- And I'd like to point out: Uncyclomedia has been closed down for over a day. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO!? —
- It should be back up, now... how odd. ~ 23:51, 22 January 2011

Still no. Is it really working for everyone else? —
01:34, January 23, 2011 (UTC)- Possibly. This is the only site I ever go to. Is this that? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 01:39, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
- No, I'm talking about the Uncyclomedia Foundation site. — 02:29, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
- To clarify, Uncyclomedia and UnMeta have very little to do with this site. And by very little, I mean nothing whatsoever. And it appears to still be down, unlike Wikia™ --Mn-z 03:26, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
- Oh. There's your problem right there. We don't click any links. That's a rule or something. I have a cousin who had a friend who knew a guy who clicked a link once, and Rick Astley killed him! He said he was never gonna give (never gonna give, never gonna give) up on murder! Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 05:19, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

- See Rickroll or wikipedia:rickroll. — 19:19, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
- I did mention that we don't click links, right? Ignore the irony of having a page on not clicking links behind a link. Also ignore that I was the first person on this page to allude to rickrolling. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 19:51, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I could just transclude the article here. How long have you been stranded on this page, anyways? —
20:25, January 23, 2011 (UTC)- Five years, three months and ten days. Seriously! Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 20:41, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
- Better UnCookbooks? - I wrote an UnCookBook one. May I suggest that you try p'tcha (cow jelly) or balut (duck fetus in egg)? 10:56, January 24, 2011 (UTC)
