I'm just curious. When, how, and why was it established that it's a bad idea to add your own article to template:RecentUnNews. It used to be perfectly acceptable from about 2006-2011. Why the sudden (and secret) change? If you have any links, please don't hesitate to include them.

I understand not everybody writes the best UnNews, and I understand you want to avoid spam/vandalism/vanity. Nobody elaborated on this rule change.

Thank you. Black-2.jpg PF4Eva, the President of Imagination Vote for me My tax returns 02:30, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Nobody seems to have elaborated on anything as far as UnNews goes. After SPIKE left, it's mostly been either chaos or inactivity. TheHumbucker did quite a bit with it, and was about to become the new chief. Apparently, he was angered by rules suddenly appearing about the "recent" template, so he left. I think it had something to do with IP revert wars with people adding their own stuff to the template. Some people reverted the additions, saying the stuff wasn't feature-worthy or something, and a flamewar ensued. Last I checked, UnNews was a minefield with too many leaders and not enough followers. I really have no idea what's going on with it now. I remember most of it all happened in the forums, though. Just going back a couple of pages in the Dump should be enlightening. -- Tinypony.gif Sir "TheSlyPony" Invariably certifiable. Rap sheet. There was a forum a few months ago on this. Those like myself who supported an UnNews coordinator/editor were defeated. There has been no UnNews overall editor since The Humbucker left. So I stopped contributing there and Funnybony - who had been writing hundreds of UnNews stories - also dropped out a month or so ago. So what you now see is what the majority wanted at the time. There was no secret change. See here: Forum:The_UnNews discussion. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:36, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

It's a bad idea if 9 out of 10 cats think your article is shit, otherwise, go right ahead. -- Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. (Harass) 05:09, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
Spike did a good job on UnNews. Since then there's been too much power-hungry Ian Beale style stupidity and people going off in pointless strops. Mattsnow is now looking after stuff in a helpful and relaxed manner. So I really can't see why anyone who wants to write UnNews, wouldn't be doing so now. mAttlobster. I answered on PF4Eva's talkpage, and Matt lobster is right: I'm the UnNews editor lol. I read them all and I take care of it almost daily, it's great to know how unnoticed it goes lmao! Talk Mattsnow 18:19, December 5, 2011 (UTC)
Snow's been handling UnNewses promptly and efficiently. I wasn't here a month ago, but since I've been back it's been going real smoothly. UnNews is my favorite facet of this site... I hope more people return to it.-- Phlegm Leoispotter * (garble! jank!) 19:19, December 5, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! I don't check the forums often though... XD Talk Mattsnow 19:26, December 5, 2011 (UTC)
