Template talk:Welcome

Just a note, an easy way to find new users editing without a talk page is with recent changes. It can be easier too, if you load up a few hundred, and hide anons and yourself, and then load this CSS in your user css:

ul.special li a+a+a+a+a.new, 
ul.special li span.newpage+a+a+a.new, 
ul.special li a[title="Special:Log/upload"]+a+a.new, 
ul.special li a[title="Special:Log/move"]+a+a.new { color:#00ff00;font-weight:bold }

...all logged in users in recent changes editing without talk pages should then have bright green links to their talk pages. How it works: If the 5th link in recent changes is class="never class=new as it is the contribs link), or if the 3rd link after class="newpage" (that N by new page creation) is class="new", or if the second link after an upload is class="new", or if the second link after a page move is class="new", then apply the above css style to that link. You can choose other colors, sizes, or even an accompanying image, eg { color: #00ff00; background: url(images/thumb/d/d5/Crown.gif/16px-Crown.gif) center left no-repeat; padding-left: 18px; }. --Splaka 03:49, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Wiki guide

Should we add Uncyclopedia:The Wikipedian's Guide to Uncyclopedia to this template? It's definitely a helpful guide, but perhaps it might be too much info or make the template/message too cumbersome. Any thoughts? MrX blow me 18:11, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Revamp proposal

In my opinion, this SHOULD be revamped. This one had its last major change in 2012, with its last edit (excluding documentation) being in 2022. Things have changed since 2022, and especially since 2012! Users like me got confused why my redirects didn't work, only to realize I was using edit instead of edit source! Honestly, other stuff like the UnSignpost should be added. Also, why is this template missing an image? I want a kitty on the side, man! A nice, warming kitty that brings people to this website! If anyone is actually SERIOUS with this proposal to revamp this... I can make it! Maybe with some ideas from you guys! If there's enough debate about this revamp OR a competition to make the best Welcome template revamp, then let's put it on the forum. I was thinking of that too! I think we should make the big five REALLY standout because I don't think anyone actually reads them. I also think we should make a big text that warns against using AI and we should really make it clear you should read HTBFANJS. Soviet☭ (Ask for free votes) 02:30, 24 January 2026 (UTC)

@DaniPine3: When you look back at particularly old talk pages, they actually used to have images! Though, back then, users actually had their own templates for welcoming... some of them were actually quite good!
