Imgur (pronounced eem-ghuuer-urr-e with a silent e), or CTRTPNOCM INC. (Cats, Tits, Reposts, Tumblr Posts, No Original Content, Memes Incorporated) is a website full of pictures.

It was originally created for the eaten people of some alien anglerfish-like thing to share their images. The sound it made when it finished eating people was EEMHGUUR, or imgur, which is completely unrelated to the name of the site.

After getting a user interface, upvote/downvote "system" and a comments section, Imgur can be considered an antisocial network among the esteemed ranks of sites like MySpace or Digg.

History[edit | edit source]

Originally created in 2010 by some guy eaten by the alien as a "gift" it quickly grew as the hoards of eaten people needed an outlet for cat images and a better way to browse /r/gonewild.

However, soon after the creation of the site it begun to grow after all the pictures of cats begun taking up more space than Bill Gates total money earned in a lifetime in cents it became its own, independent site with worthless internet points that people actually cared about and did astonishing things to get more, such as eating bananas with peels.

A meme generator was added in 2012 escalating the meme crisis to the extent where 1 in 4 new posts were memes, instead of 1 in 5. This made it increasingly difficult to browse the reposts from other sites and soon after the owner of AT&T decided to impose stricter data limits because of how pissed off he was.

Shortly after a mobile application was added with all the standard features from the Imgur site, this includes the ability to browse /r/gonewild. However it did suffer from many problems such as crashing and skipping all the reposts which caused havoc and made the owner of AT&T even angrier imposing speed limits to 1/80th of the transmission speed that NASA had on the moon in the 1960's.

In late 2013 Imgur announced a brand new social network for anyone who has 1000 or above internet points. It features a stalker tool to find Imgur users near you, blatant IRC ripoff, a way to tell marketers what your weird fetishes are and how to know when your favorite post from 4 days ago is posted again.

Content[edit | edit source]

Reposts[edit | edit source]

Reposts compose 79-100% of the content of Imgur. The most common type of repost is something that was on the front page two to five days ago. Sometimes even a month if you're lucky. Keyboard warriors will often call out a repost, even if it was posted eight months prior.

"Reposts" from other sites[edit | edit source]

About 32-68% of the reposts are content from other sites such as Tumblr, Facebook and 4chan.

Many of the users who are obsessed with fake internet points create a album of screenshots from one of the sites listed above. This is a very easy way to get internet points (unless you're using the command line, in which case stop using it to go on webpages you lunatic).

Gifs[edit | edit source]

Gifs compose a smaller amount of reposts (21-33%), however they are the more amusing content on Imgur.

The main gifs posted are response gifs such as an animal acting majestically and a caption "Bitch, I'm Fabulous" or equivalent.

The other types of gifs are people failing at doing basic tasks such as doing things on BMX bikes or taking a stroll with a booby trapped door beside them resulting in being catapulted in the nearest wall.

Quotes[edit | edit source]

Quotes are 5-8% of the total repost amount which makes it smaller than Uranus.

In case if you weren't aware of what quotes are, they're text with a font that you never though existed on a background was found on Google Image Search or Shutterstock. The quote is often something optimistic, often trying to tell you how good and innovative you are. Many quotes are attributed to the wrong person, such as Oscar Wilde to Taylor Swift.

Animals[edit | edit source]

A large amount (Percentage of people with a penis above 7 inches) of posts consist of animals, mainly cats as people with dogs have to take them out for a walk before they can brag about their dogs and what hilarious place they shat in, by which time they need to go and take the dog for a walk again.

It is also notable that many people on Imgur are afraid of bugs (Specifically spiders) however they will upvote the images of them anyway due to the amount of brain cells that an average Imgur user has (clue: not many).

Other animals which Imgur are interested in are:

  • Turtles playing dead because they don't want to be on Imgur
  • Tigers rolling about/being violently captured by the camera
  • Bears doing funny things such as sitting on a chair for a kid
  • Children being children
  • Penguins doing whatever penguins do
  • Elephants performing a ritual, also known as hugging
  • Owls being molested
  • Rabbits sitting

Or, in short terms most mammals that have fur (except children).

Tits[edit | edit source]

As the majority of the people consumed by the alien are heterosexual a smaller portion (18-39%) of the posts are slightly covered up tits. This usually doesn't get many upvotes as the majority of the users have erectile dysfunction due to masturbating to every image that has a woman in it.

This usually gets stuck in the "usersub" or "usersubmitted" section of Imgur, mainly because no sane person goes on there.

Memes[edit | edit source]

A fair bit(24-48%) of the total posts are memes.

The most common types of memes are "confession bear", "confession tiger", "unpopular opinion puffin" and "success kid" and original memes that no one outside of the comments will use ever again.

Imgur also suffers from the misuse of memes such as using "confession bear" for their normal views and "unpopular opinion puffin" for their experiences which are most likely lies anyway (unlike Uncyclopedia).
