“I'll burry him. I've done it before and I'll do it again. I'll Fucking Kill(TM) Meta-Humour”

~ Steve Ballmer on Meta-Humour

I know that the article on being funny & not stupid has a section on meta-humor, but I've no idea what it is. Can anyone please show me an example of such?

Meta-humor is what is more commenly known as in-jokes. An example would be Euroipods... Also, let it be known that MoneySign HATES meta-humor. --~ sin($) tan() 19:33, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
But you'd have to be an old-timer here to know why... Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 00:03, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

  • As I understand it, meta-humor is NOT in-jokes (although I'm a fan of both). Meta-humor is when you write an article in the style of what the article describes - for example, Redundancy is redundant, ROT13 is in ROT13, etc. - Sikon 18:09, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
  • I 'spose there is an Uncyc-specific definition (in-joke, ie humor about Uncyc) and a broad definition (humor that takes the process of satire or humor as its subject). This is not an article is meta in the broad sense, for instance. (In my opinion.) The categorizations are of course fuzzy and dependent on opinion and context (ie, not worth arguing about). You could look up Meta-joke on Wikipedia, but of course that article is a shameless parody and the truth is quite different.----OEJ 17:08, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
