Can I ask all the VFD regulars to stop using an abstain vote? Unlike VFH where you, supposingly, don't want to hurt the writer's feelings, in VFD there is really no weight to the abs vote. You either want it gone, or not. By using the abs one you simply delay the process and clog up VFD. Thanks. ~ 11:50, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm you're right. If you can't decide about it being deleted it should be a keep right? -- 11:54, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- That's my approach. ~ 12:02, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough... I had thought that an abs was (in some small way) useful to the administrators in assessing the quality of an article, especially if there is a useful comment attached, but I'm happy to change how I vote. Should Template:VFDRules be updated to reflect this new policy? MrN 17:23, May 4

- I occasionally use an abstain to point out relevant facts about an article about which I otherwise have no strong feelings -- for instance, if reviewers suspecting a vanity article seem unaware that the subject of the article is in fact the #1-rated quoits champion from Guyana, or something. But other than that, voting in order to express ambivalence is mostly non-productive all right. ----OEJ 17:30, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, but I'd say that's more of a Comment. than an Abstain.. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon (Tick Tock) (Contribs) 19:37, May 4
