Forum:Credentials
As Wikipedia is a cheep knock-off of us, I'm somewhat worried that they may implement a credential policy before we do. With that in mind, I'd like to open the floor to suggestions on how we can ensure that our editors are A)Properly Credentialled, and B)Those Credentials sound really good.
One Suggestion
Each user prepare a [[User:Username/Credentials]] page. Lacking that, one is prepared for them.
Another Suggestion
Use userboxes for this, or some sort of icons for the userpage, which indicate educational level achieved. (PhD in Boobology, DDM in Political Satirism, etc)
Yet Another Suggestion
Editors are required to assume some title which denotes their area of expertise. Lacking this, one is assigned to them.
How else could we do it? 03/9 23:21
The only credentials an Uncyclopedian needs
- Be funny and not just stupid
- Don't be a dick
- 3. Don't be a vandal, troll, blanker, or any other type of moron. --Starnestommy 23:25, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- Those are rules. We have those. I'm a little worried that people are writing about politics who aren't 3-time nominees for Presidential pet pooper-scooper. We might lose face over something like that. 03/9 23:43
- Well, I'm sure Codiene's Mum hasn't heard of those kinds of people. --Crazyswordsman...With SAVINGS!!!! (T/C) 15:48, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

I got a "sucker for punishment" ninjastar. Does that count for anything?--<<>> 00:58, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sure does. I think you got the first one. You should be qualified to write on anything involving suckers, punishment, or sucky punishments. Or anything involving babies and candy. 03/10 01:28
Hmm, I think we need to do this. Maybe little Icons up the top of the userpage (like the new featured star) and have a key somewhere showing what "credentials" we have. —Braydie 01:52, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- I could have sworn that I had mentioned somethin' like this before. 01:53, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- Feel free to adapt the ninjastar icon currently on {{FA}} for that. Should be easy to make a userpage template that adds those. Or maybe I'll do it if I can be bothered.
- Oh, and I fully support restricting editing on uncyc to only those with two or more doctorates. • Spang • ☃ • talk • 15:08, 12 Mar 2007
- No, it should be left to the patently unqualified. Like politics.--Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 15:20, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ooh - so close! Well - bye! --Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 19:02, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'd like a credential stating that I have no credentials, or that I went to jail for using fake credentials, or that I stole them, or like Congress voted to give me some only they found out I don't exist, or something like that, or either one really, or all of them, plus anything else that's cool. I like the idea of tiny little icons in the corner for people that have won our big awards. Not as a credential, necessarily, but just as a formal way of letting people know which users have the "respect" and "admiration" of the Uncyclopedian community.<<>> 15:26, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- What's the chance we can somehow rig this in the site CSS for uniformity? Not that I'm about to think too hard on it, but knowing where to look on a userpage for such things might be useful. That or we could just create some obscure ranking system and hand out titles. 03/23 14:52
