And then I lol'd at that, spammed it into #uncyclopedia, then Kippy called me aimsplode, then I replaced all the text in my sig (mein siege!) to that line of swastikas. After that, there was debate over the situation. Since I haven't supported nazism in the past, nor do I plan to, everyone said "meh" and went back to jerking off to midget porn. - It was a sad situation. Aimsplode was a good-faith user, from the looks of it (I was not there but have read the relevant forum); however, he was also quite offensive and uncivil, and consequently disruptive. Perhaps he really did mean no harm by the swastikas. Just the same, a lot of users seemed to think he did, or at least were offended by them. This is perfectly understandable - and though I think Aimsplode meant no harm, I too am offended by the imagery of his sigs. He should have understood why it was a bad idea, as Uncyclopedia is not meant to be a soapbox and its users should avoid offending each other, but he didn't, and made rather a few nasty comments to top it off. - The trouble with Uncyclopedia is you never know what's serious and what isn't. On Wikipedia you know it's all serious, and if something isn't serious it gets squished, or at least taken the wrong way. "If it's/they're not helping build the encyclopedia, it/they should be deleted/blocked/whatever". But on Uncyclopedia you can't do that, because our purpose isn't (exactly) to be an encyclopedia; it's to have fun. (Or so I see it.) Trouble is, the definition of fun is pretty squishy, and furthermore, all wikis have rules. Serious rules. So, when you have serious rules on a non-serious wiki, as you are bound to do, you're setting yourself up for some amount of miscommunication. How serious are they?
- I suppose the important thing for us is to remember, always, that we are not Wikipedia. That absolutely anything might not be intended to be taken seriously - like this forum. But how do we know? That's just it: we don't. I didn't. I suspected you weren't entirely serious about this but I wasn't sure, and I gave the sort of response the others did, if not more so.
