Forum:Not a joke: Italian uncyclopedia is down for a libel lawsuit
Nonciclopedia, the Italian relative of Uncyclopedia is down because Vasco Rossi, a singer, has sued it for libel. Note that the whole site has been blocked by a judge, not just the page about him. You can find more info and links on the English Wikipedia page about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasco_Rossi
- UPDATE: It seems that Nonciclopedia hasn't been forced down, but the administrators have decided to strike by closing the site after they were summoned by the police. The Italian Internet community is protesting by spreading the news through Twitter, Facebook and many blogs. Those of you who can read Italian can see a copy of the page that triggered the lawsuit here: [1]. --46.44.193.49 18:38, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

Attention: as if it were not enough, we are also having of the problems with our host, Wikia, than it is preventing to make our strike bringing back all normality, we will hold dawned to you.
Nonciclopedia: Suspension of the service [modification] From Nonciclopedia, l' encyclopedia in probation Lettrici beloveds, beloveds readers, beloveds creditors Nonciclopedia closes because of a denunciation that Vasco Rossi has stall against the site. Vasco Rossi has been felt defamed from the page regarded that it. Probably a process will be kept, to the term of which that brufoloso fifteen-year-old child who has written the page after to be be beaten from its companions of class, now will have also to pay the alimony to the nullatenente Vasco Rossi. A man who has lived l' experience of the drug, l' experience of the jail, l' experience of stages and crowds applauded that it, could not own support l' idea of being object of satira on Nonciclopedia. But we travel over again all the history in order to explain the vicissitude better:

3200 a.C.: l' man invents the writing.
7 February 1952: Vasco is born Rossi.

ATTENTION: written how much in this box is a reasonable reconstruction of the remembered events… but that the truth could exceed the fantasy.

3 February 2010: l' lawyer sends a mail to Nonciclopedia and a registered letter A/R to Wikia, asking to cancel the seriously diffamatoria page since and to supply the data of the customers in order to proceed to their identification.
4 February 2010: Nonciclopedia answers all' lawyer, spiegandogli shortly cos' it is Nonciclopedia, than he is not in a position to supplying the data of the customers at last, showing itself available to eliminate from the page the diffamatorie parts that will be indicated from the same lawyer, like already happened in passed with other personages who have marked their page. For all answer, l' lawyer does not answer, although Nonciclopedia conserves the notification of reading. No trace not even of the fantomatica registered letter sent in California, to our Wikia host, like indicated in the mail dell' lawyer. Thus, thinking that features of a feint mail as often it happens, Nonciclopedia leaves to run, not having had no reply of the veridicità of the communication.
18 August 2011: a admin of Nonciclopedia it comes convened from the police mails them in order to explain the operation of the site. The policemen ask it an autograph. Oral Sul. The community decides to cancel the page of Vasco Rossi waiting for ulterior developments, communicating our decision all' lawyer and spiegandogli that we attended a its answer. L' continuous lawyer to ignore to us in spite of the notification of reading.
september 2011: others three admin have been convened from the police mail them in order to explain the operation of the site. As a result of these facts, the administrators have decided to close the site to indeterminato time. We ringraziamo all those who have contributed to this wonderful and special site, but still more ringraziamo all our readers in order to have dedicated also a single minute to us. Nonciclopedia closes. Modernization 1 In these hours the net is mobilizing in mass (journalistic heads, blogger, single customers of forum, etc) in order to support to us and to disclose the news from we brought back. We have read many interesting things, some disagreeable ones from which we dissociate ourselves (to insult the persons is not justifiable), and totally absurd others. For this for we it is necessary to clear some points: To the state they puts into effect not c' it has been some process. No magistrate has contacted the administrators (than consequently they do not have reason to feel itself in " torto"). The site closes for protest, not for constriction. The protest has become necessary in the moment in which coming encounter to the demands (seppur arguable, since this Is a site of satira) dell' lawyer of Vasco Rossi to remove the page dedicated to the " rocker" , the denunciation to cargo of " ignoti" at all it has not fallen. We have offered our full collaboration already in 2010. For all () answer some administrators have not been convened from the police mail them a year after!
Nonciclopedia does not have reason of worry from all this vicissitude. Totally we are opened to the dialogue with Vasco, Tania Sachs (its spokesman) or l' lawyer who up to now seems to have determined not to turn more the word to us. In last, I feel myself in it must remember to Vasco Rossi and the large ones vip like he that Nonciclopedia is a heterogenous community constituted for the majority from adolescents. Boys whom they still believe in the myth dell' good hero, of the vip in a position to comprising them and guiding them on the straight one via without need to use the stick. WE HAVE ALREADY REMOVED the PAGE, we do not see in order which reason to continue with totally superfluous a legal action against boys of 15 years. --
16:13, October 3, 2011 (UTC)- Oh, that's from Nonciclopedia....--
- Would it be possible to add some linebreaks to that? *shifty eyes* Also, isn't Wikia, like, supposed to protect us from this kind of thing? Because I'm pretty sure I recall someone saying that was one of the reasons to stick with them... but it sounds like the site admins have been having to fend for themselves, and up against some pretty ridiculous stuffs, at that. ~ 20:15, 3 October 2011
- I now have a headache. lol. I think I can read between the jibber jabber and bad translations. There's a sample of what was written by some 15 year old kid that offended Rossi and the timeline of legal events that followed.--

- Wikia is based out of California, so it falls under jurisdiction of US laws. But the fact is the content in question was created by an Italian, and the "victim" is Italian. Technically, since it took place on a US site, certain parts of the suit might only be legal in the States, but we all know how Italy's judicial system is the fairest one on Earth.
- GASP! did I make a sarcastic remark!? Well, I have nothing to worry about, seeing as we have a little thing called The First Amendment here, as well as other protections for writers of parody and political commentary. I'm sure if this were going to happen to the US English Uncyclopedia, it would have already happened. Try my product and "Frogen Yues" are notable examples of articles receiving baseless threats. -- 08:09 October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Rossi wants us to be nice?
The Rossi article i'm currently working on is basically what Rossi wants to see. It's pretty much a parody of the entire thing. It badmouths Nonciclopedia as though they're the evil and whiny ones, and it puts Rossi as "the greatest musician of all time". The article is here. -- PLEB SIR Lollipop (TALK) - updated on 3 October 2011, at 21:14
- I can chop up a picture of him being gang raped by donkeys if you like.--
- The theme of the article is to pretend we like Nasco Rossi. -- PLEB SIR Lollipop (TALK) - updated on 3 October 2011, at 21:24
- I just took a picture of him and put a smoking joint in his mouth - pasted it on his Facebook page with the word Tossicomane. lol. -- 21:41, October 3, 2011 (UTC)
- Pretty funny, one guy got all offended in caps and a couple of other people laughed at him. The translators suck but I get the gist. lol--
- Needs more sarcasm. I love it when an article actually does lend itself to sarcasm, though... o__o ~ 22:38, 3 October 2011
- I've done the "clearly written by the musician himself (while having a hissy fit over the existing article)" thing before and liked the results. Sania Mirza might also serve as inspiration. --monika 04:14, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
- What I get from the English translation (based on the word "cumulus") is that Rossi actually thinks a gangly satirical page (written by a 15 year old) could put a "dark cloud" over his career - now he's becoming internationally famous as a whiny bitch who takes himself too seriously. Hordes of people are pissed off at Rossi about this. He's way past his prime and just an old man now, which makes it all the more ludicrous.-- 05:46, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

- To let you know, I updated your Rossi page. I hope it's okay. I did it all in one post, so if you don't like the additions I've made just revert it. I just wanted to jump on the task, you know? User:Mrthejazz/sig 04:42, October 5, 2011 (UTC)
From Rossi's Facebook Page
This note popped up this morning and here's the poor translation:
What we think about the expression freedom and it testifies it to other l' existence of this profile for all the one which contains, with the free contribution of anyone. We with diffamatorio content have asked to anonymous managers for a site (second) to render the managers and the inserzionisti not anonymous. The demand has been considered not ricevibile, the answer is that the site cannot be considered in charge of the anonymous contents is diffused. This remains for we a problem to clear, anonymous people can diffuse considerations of the type: V. Rossi is one old slavering drug addict who sells cocaine in front of the schools and must its rimbambiti reputation to the credulità of million made and strafatti how much and more than he…. If this is lawful we will be very content to pay damages and how much serves to the anonymous managers and inserzionisti of Nonciclopedia, in contrary case will continue in the demand to know l' identity of the managers of the site and the anonymous authors of comic the only diffamatorie activities and for nothing or " satiriche ". The content of Nonciclopedia in the marked parts from we to the managers does not have nothing to that to make with the satira. A discreet created and diffuse parody amount and other exist fortunately on Vasco, been also sure also for our divertimento, without no contrast as art undersigned from authors and interpreters with name and last name like the " victim " of the same one. . meditated or better: fairies those that seems to you!
What I get from this: He's demanding to have the administrators of the site and the author identified and not remain anonymous. He's upset about being called an old addict who sells drugs in front of schools. He claims the article has nothing to do with art and is simply slander.--
05:59, October 4, 2011 (UTC)- Maybe he should have tried a rewrite tag first. --monika 00:32, October 5, 2011 (UTC)
The end (or not?)
Nonciclopedia is back online after a Vasco Rossi's spokesperson has promised to give up the lawsuit. An interesting thing is that Nonciclopedia seems to have inspired the serious Wikipedia: the Italian Wikipedia is know striking with the same system to protest a new law that will limit the freedom of speech on Internet (see [3] in English).
Hi dear, I'm from Nonciclopedia. I red this page and I say you that the great part of Vasco Rossi communications are false, sayd to avoid a bad imagine of the facts. For example, it's false that in our article we sayd that "he is an old man that sells drugs in front of schools". This is false, you can see the real version of Vasco Rossi Nonciclopedia' page in several host services. Sorry for my bad english and thanks to all that followed our vicissitude.--Cugino di mio cugino 21:53, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I know the old man who sells drugs in front of schools. He's not Vasco Rossi. AND THIS IS NOT A JOKE EITHER. --Ed Refugee 07:47, October 10, 2011 (UTC)
Damn
That just totally sucks. Poor Italians, what should they do?--- 16:22, October 11, 2011 (UTC)
