VOTE ENDS ON FEBRUARY 2

We gotta organize this shit. New users often comment on the long and disorganized nature of our Discord server's current folder organization scheme. Personally, I find myself engaged in a conversation, and as soon as I switch to a different channel, become completely lost and lose track of where anything is discussed. Yes, you could simply collapse the folders and mute the channels, but would a new user rather spend 5 minutes of their life clicking buttons? Or just have everything they need available?

Roza's proposed changes

Score: -3
  • Symbol for vote.svg For. Less cluttered, more organized. Now you know where the heck everything is. I promise, it will include an archive folder for old channels at the bottom, for archival purposes. Despite the picture, #general will stay NSFW. Note that this is only a proposal, and new channels and different folders may be added as needed. – roza 07:33, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol for vote.svg For. What Rose said. Auror Andrachome (talk) 07:42, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

  • Symbol declined.svg Against - It's cluttered and lengthy as all hell, but that gives it a certain personality. I say we live up to the "Discord" name. -- Kip the Egg Easter egg.gif Talk Easter egg.gif Works Easter egg.gif 07:45, Jan. 24, 2019
  • Zombieche-vote.png Zombiebaron. Roza fails to mention that the categories are collapsible, and when a channel in a collapsed category has a new message it becomes bold. Discord also has a very comprehensive search function, which makes finding your last discussion very simple with minimal effort. The current system was created organically by the community to suit our needs: many channels allows for us to discuss many topics at the same time without stepping on each other's toes. -- The Zombiebaron 07:48, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol declined.svg Against. This has been discussed at length on the Discord server, and voted on at least 7 times now, but I'm glad we finally get to publicly vote against this once and for all so we can move on with our lives. No one has complained about the Discord server's organization. Occasionally a new user may bring it up, in a "Huh, you guys have a lot of channels. That's interesting." kind of way. More often than not, it's only brought up because Roza specifically asks users for their opinion. No complaints. The fact of the matter is that, as discussed many times with Roza, every one of these channels are actively used, often concurrently. Why have one channel for discussing television shows when you can have multiple? In the days of IRC, I would sometimes have to bookmark links that I wanted to eventually share after existing conversations died down. The genius of Discord is that it allows for multiple interrupted conversations. Discord is fun and silly and creative, and this kills that. Please stop trying to make this happen. • Symbol for vote.svg For. I'd prefer if there were two channels, just like we used to have on IRC.  ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngFri, Jun 1 '79 0:00 (UTC)
  • Symbol for vote.svg For. Most of them are barely used, and I must say that no one even bothers to use them at once. We used to have only one channel and it was enough, bring back the old but gold times. Alvgjerd (talk) 08:58, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
That's not true. Most of these channels are used daily. SG1|Hereish [citation needed] 09:04, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol neutral vote.svg Abstain. Though I feel there are too many channels, I simply mute most of them, and never cared.--The Pioneer Visit my Japanese Page on Usopedia! 10:13, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol for vote.svg For. way too many channels at the moment. Arthur (talk) 10:17, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol declined.svg Against. Acts of contrarianism fit the very definition of the word "discord". I prefer my chaos without order or rules. Cat the Colourful (Feed me!) Zzz Zzz...morning? 10:21, 24 January, 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol declined.svg Against. I don't really see the need for it as long as channels related to administration and technical matters are available (which are in the current system). And as has been mentioned by others, it lends the discord character. However, if certain pet channels were somehow fit into the new scheme, then I'd be more or less undecided and 50/50 over which to vote. Inhooman (talk) 11:37, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol declined.svg Against. It doesn't really need to be organized. We're talking about UNCYCLOPEDIA for Pete's sake. -- MagicBus Can you ride my Magic Bus? 13:46, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol declined.svg Against. I know I'm not exactly the most active person around these days and admittedly I'm still a bit of a noob to Discord, but I've personally never had any issues finding or switching channels and I've never had any qualms with how things are laid out. -- Lost Labyrinth It's Britain bitch!
