Forum:A question about using images
I'm obviously new and can't seem to find information about using/crediting images on here. What must I do to put pictures that aren't mine onto a page? And what about pictures that weren't originally mine but I messed with? Note: This is NOT a "how do you upload a picure" question. I do know that bit. --VyvyanWilde 02:40, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- If you're asking a technical question, you put images on pages using for just the image, or for an image with space for a caption. For example, yields the image formatting you see to the right. You can also add another pipe to indicate where the image should be placed on the page (|left, |right, |center).
- If you're asking about copyright, upload what you want and try to find the closest license to tag it with on the upload page. Copyrighted images are largely allowed here under Fair Use as parody, and those that are iffy we can take on a case-by-case basis. —rc (t) 02:57, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also, if you want to keep the images original size. t o m p k i n s blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 05:43, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Related question: I can't seem to find anywhere to search for images (exclusively). I feel so incompetent! --Pieface 06:02, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- to request images, try UN:PIC. Also, try
The evil empireGoogle. --Lt. High Gen. Grue The Few The Proud, The Marines 06:05, 10 June 2007 (UTC)- Um, no, that is not what I mean. I mean to find images that have been previously uploaded to Uncyclopaedia. Sometimes I can't even find the images that I uploaded myself, unless I go to the article. For example, there must be a zillion images of Dubya here. Hypothetically, I would like to browse through them, alternately chortling, vomiting, weeping and so on. There does not seem to be any way to do that, so what I do is to save every image that I encounter that may be vaguely useful in some bizarre but as yet unknown future circumstance. Thank you for your patience. --Pieface 06:16, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- Okey dokey - first search for something using the sidebar. Anything. Search for "the fountain of youth" if you like. When you get to the search page, go down to the bottom and uncheck all the boxes. Finally, check the "Image" and "Image Talk" boxes and type "Bush" or whatever into the search box. You will get many, many results, as I found out the time I stupidly tried to search for an actual picture of a bush... --Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 09:11, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent! Thank you so much. Just let me know if you need a picture of a (real) bush. I have plenty. --Pieface 09:35, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, if you're looking for something like "Bush", you'd never find the eleventy billion pictures of bushes conveniently titled "1241231b29957dda642031.jpg" or whatnot... --CaptainSpam MUN PUTPBAA 22:30, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

If finding images conveniently is something we really want to do, we could start categorizing images and eventually mandating this. I guess we just figured nobody cares about the pictures thaat much. It's conceptually easy though, with a couple hundred robot monkey computer lackeys. --KATIE!! 03:30, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
