Please Read[edit source]

We have plenty of quotes here. In fact, we have far more than we need. We don't need any more. In fact, people get "asked to leave" on a semi-regular basis if all they do is run around and spam quotes on pages. Before you make any more edits, please read some of the fine links above. I'm thinking specifically of this one. What we need are more articles, in they style of Wikipedia.

Please Read the above information. It will make your stay here much more pleasant and productive. Thanks! Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 06/20 01:01

Hiya - one more little FYI - putting links to your article on lots of pages for no other reason than to make people visit is known as "article whoring" and is frowned upon. Links should either be relevant, subtle (use the piped link technique to say something and link to something else: [[something else|something]]) or should add humour to the articles they go in. Preferably all three. Thanks. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 21:06, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Hea there[edit source]

Well I guess we were filling Led's talk page up a bit too much, so I will try to voice my concerns here... I keep an eye on the VFD page quite a lot and hopefully have some kind of idea what might get deleted if nominated over there. Basically I use ICUs as a way of warning a user who has created an article that it's possible that it will be deleted if it's not worked on some more. Unfortunately, I think this applies in your cases here (still) with these articles.

  • Pirates of Encino‎ - Other than the list at the end there is not much to this article. I'm sorry, but I see no attempt at satire or humour here at all. It really just looks like a Wikipedia article to me. I can find no mention of this on Wikipedia.
  • Remington Steelers - Cool, you have some more content in this one. I'm guessing that the joke here is in the name? Again you have loads of lists which I don't think help much.

For all of these articles, I'm a little concerned as to the humour behind them. Now, obviously that's difficult to judge, but as I said, I have seen a fair few articles go through VFD, and I think you might find people voting to delete this with comments like "Where is the humour?". As you know, this is a humour wiki, and everything here should appeal to as many people as possible. Perhaps I have missed the concept behind your work, but I suspect I will not be the only one. Maybe if you could find a way to explain the joke it might help?

Regarding the long list type structures you have... Unfortunately, these will not be seen by many readers to contribute very much to the articles. We try to make our articles look as encyclopaedic as possible, and unless a list is really helping an article it's often a good idea to shy away from using them. In some of your articles you are relying heavily on the lists.

All of these articles still look rather messy, disjointed and contain no pictures.

My suggestion? I looks to me like you are keen to create lots of articles on Uncyc. Obviously that's great. I fear however that if you don't work on these a lot more they will not last long before being deleted which is a shame as obviously you have put some work into them. I would suggest that you stop creating new articles (I noticed that you have another new one in your user space) and work on the articles which you have now. Take a look at some of our Uncyclopedia:Best of articles, and maybe read HTBFANJS if you have not already. When you have done that, I would suggest that you concentrate on Remington Steelers. Try to get that one article really good before you think about creating any more.

A note on the ICU process... When an ICU is added to an article, please do not remove it unless you have made a significant improvement to the article related to the ICU in question. If you are not sure, it's best to ask the person who put the ICU on if it's OK to remove it.

Basically my main issue is that these articles do not appear (to me) to be suitable for a humour wiki. Like I said, perhaps I'm missing a subtle twist of humour here (it would not be the first time) but to me these articles really just look like something you might find at Wikipedia. If you can enlighten me about this, I would be very happy. I will re-add the ICUs tomorrow if you don't get back to me about this before then. Oh, please reply here, on your talk page. That will make it easier to follow the discussion. Cheers.MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 00:32, Jun 2

About the Remington Steelers page: I'm creating the album articles for the sole purpose of moving those lists from the page to those articles. --Ryanasaurus0077 13:21, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and I shortened the lists on The Remington Steelers (album) and Pirates of Encino. --Ryanasaurus0077 14:01, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
This just in, the list on Public Broadcasting Service is now short and sweet. Also, with your permission, I'd like to create a page on The Guns N Roses 20th Anniversary Album tomorrow, if my sister doesn't beat me to the computer. --Ryanasaurus0077 18:45, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
BTW, the lists on the Remington Steelers page are just temporary (they'll stay for a while longer, at least until I can shorten them on the pages for their respective albums). And as for the album pages, I don't have Photoshop to work with, so I'm going to need as little Uncyclopedians as possible to try to get the covers ready. --Ryanasaurus0077 18:45, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and instead of re-adding the ICUs if they're not in shape, why not add the Intentionally Bad template to them? --Ryanasaurus0077 18:55, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Hea awesome. It's great that you are sorting this out! All the pages now look a lot better, and I'm not going to be putting any ICU tags onto them now. Just a note for ya... Have you read BGBU? In there it tells you about using the {{WIP}} tag. That's kinda like an ICU in that it tells the admins not to delete the page, but with {{WIP}} you can remove it yourself without upsetting the chaps such as myself who are checking the new pages which are being created. What I suggest you do is put {{WIP}} at the top of all of your pages right now. So long as you keep editing the page you never run out of time to improve it. If a page still has a WIP on it and it's not been edited for 7 days an admin will make a judgement to delete it or keep it. I think they all still need more work. Without the WIP tag there is a still some chance they could be deleted, but probably not much now that they are improved. Remove virtually all of the red links, and try to come up with some pictures. The humour factor is still a bit short, but I think you can do something about this. Oh, if you have not already, read HTBFANJS Seriously. Do it. It's not an insult and it's VERY useful as a guide for writing good stuff. As for the Intentionally Bad tag... Na. Generally adding any tag to a page does not make it better. I trust you to add the WIP tags, so there is no need for that now. Good luck! MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 19:07, Jun 2
Since I see you're (temporarily?) sparing my pages, I've taken down some of the lists on the Remington Steelers page and will gradually take the rest of the lists down as more album pages come up (with your permission, of course). --Ryanasaurus0077 20:29, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Hea! Steady on there. Actually you don't have to ask my "permission" for anything. I'm not an admin, so you can just tell me to go jump in the lake and there is nothing I can do about it. I'm just trying to spare you the articles being deleted. That's why I suggested you put the WIP tag onto everything. Seriously, do that. Also, if you don't intend to have some of the lists on the articles, but just need them there to save them for now, why not remove them from your articles, and keep them in userspace for now? You can put whatever you want in userspace, and it would make your articles look a look a lot better. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 20:37, Jun 2
Good idea! I'll start tomorrow. --Ryanasaurus0077 20:55, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

About the lists[edit source]

You could merge them into an article about the band itself, or create one if it doesn't exist. You could also request that it be made, if you don't want to do it yourself. --Meta 500 15:51, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

  • If you want someone to blame for making me create a page knee-deep in lists, blame RAHB. He's the one who suggested I put half the lists on a new page. What else could I do? --Ryanasaurus0077 15:59, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Maybe add some information to the article so it isn't just lists? BTW, feel free to take the template off, since you were asked to make it that way, that is, if you want to. --Meta 500 16:50, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
thx --Ryanasaurus0077 17:33, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
np--Meta 500 18:29, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
My suggestion was to actually create a subpage. Remington Steelers/Discography. That way, it's not in mainspace, so people won't bitch about it, but it's also off the main band page, so it's not absolutely huge. And you can still link out of the article to it. -RAHB 23:02, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, it's spelled "Remington". The corrected spelling is in your previous post. --Ryanasaurus0077 23:03, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
I knew I'd mess it up. But it looks like you got the page up right, so good on ya. -RAHB 00:29, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
thx --Ryanasaurus0077 13:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Quick Tip[edit source]

I see you moving your articles into userspace. I won't say anything about the whole VFD deal, but you can use this link to monitor them and make sure they're all well in order. It's very helpful when you've got lots of subpages. -RAHB 00:25, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

thx --Ryanasaurus0077 00:27, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
No problem. -RAHB 00:30, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
