At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Fahrenheit/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.

If you want to write and don't know where to begin, consider contributing to Uncyclopedia's current colonization of the week, a group writing project to improve a single popular article. Anyone is welcome to contribute, so come help out!

If the current colonization doesn't suit your fancy, then browse our rewrite and idea categories. We have lots of articles just sitting around for someone to improve, so don't be afraid - dive right in!

Deletion

Page recreations

Heya. Rather than copying and pasting articles to create a new retitled article, use the "Move" tab at the top of the article page to move the article to a new title. This eliminates duplicate articles, plus it maintains the edit history of the original one.

If the article is new or recent, send the original author a talk page message notifying them of the change in location (so they don't recreate it). Then, list the redirect on QVFD. Specify that you want the redirect deleted. For an old article, it's a bit more complex and I can explain that also if you'd like. --T. (talk) 12:11, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

With older articles, they may already be linked to others, so moving them and deleting the redirect produces red links and angry users. So, before you move anything, look down your left hand column under toolbox and click on What links here. See how long the list is. If the number of articles is low, and the existing article really is stupid and incorrect (and accidentally so, as opposed to for humourous purpose), move the article to the new name, change the linked name in all the linked articles, then QVFD the redirect (old article name). If the What links here list is long, then the wrong name is pretty well entrenched, wrong/stupid or not. Under those circumstances I'd either just leave the article where it is, or move it and leave the redirect so that the linked articles all follow to the new title.

In any case it's always important not to copypaste A to B. Edit history should always be preserved whenever possible.

Uncyclopedia:Pee Review/Uncyclopedia Defence Squadron

Yes, Uncyclopedia Defence Squadron finally got Pee Reviewed. Please don't take the long wait personally--some award-winning editors here have been waiting weeks for a review, probably because people whipped out articles during their summer break and then went back to school.
