Uncyclopedia:Foreign Office/The Assembly
Note to Ambassadors:
- There is now an added Languages Discussion section above the submissions section. Here your
monkeysusers can work together to discuss specific language translations. Russian and English have been started, you can start other ones as you wish. - If you want to have more direct relations with another Uncyclopedia (apart from the English), feel free contact one of the listed ambassadors and you can try to make a contact, rather than having to go through England for these matters.
- Feel free to customise your language's sections/pages. Add cliched pictures or stereotypes if you like.

First Meeting Concluded[edit source]
The Statements[edit source]
- Due to some reasons, we'll have to do something with Czechs. Maybe carpet bombing or some nuclear-involving agenda.
- A Logo of the Office is also required. The resolution is to base it on the UN's one.
- We have to create the Embassies' Map, i.e. set up the links to the Foreign Embassies on the main page of FO.
- Also, RECRUITMENT! (© All Ambassadors) That means we have to establish contact with Uncy's main page and set up a link there too.
- It will be much better if such links are on the main page of every Uncy, not just English one.
(Stated by all, recorded by Praet. Long live the Empire!)
The Discussion[edit source]
I think we may say that this first meeting was a great success. A lot of important countries were represented and good decisions were made. I look forward to the next one. Same time, same place? |
| 20:27, November 21, 2009 (UTC)- I assume that everybody is busy on workweek. So, we'll have to gather on next weekend. Same time, same place.
Don't forget the beer!— . 21:12, November 21, 2009 (UTC)- Yeah i think it went very well, we concluded a lot, and most importantly we have decided to entice the Czechs into the deal with very large promises of "FREE PIVO", if they don't comply, we will call them nasty names. --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 21:55, November 21, 2009 (UTC)
- It's our first Un General Assembly. That's wonderful. But is it too frequent to gather weekly?--SunnyChow 04:10, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
I just want to advise that who had spoken in the chat (Hans Magnus) was a fake.--
00:27, November 22, 2009 (UTC)- Um, are you serious? Seems like a strange way for someone to spend their evening without obvious gain... So I take it you're not from Bologna? --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 01:06, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- Was it a legal fake or we have to hunt somebody down? — . 01:13, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not from Bologna and i'm not a shitty graphic.
- @Praetorian: Legal fake?
- At the moment I'm advising all my "mates" of Nonciclopedia.--

- Wow! Should we have some secret signs? Seriously, what can we do about the impostor?--SunnyChow 09:34, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
I mean if it was a fake approved by you or not. Now I see that it wasn't. —
. 10:37, November 22, 2009 (UTC)- Wow, we have a spy in our ranks, I blame the Czechs! :D But seriously, who was it? --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 11:25, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- It clearly wasn't malicious (apart from the one comment about MFH hating him), I assume the guy was just bored and had nothing to do. He actually made some decent contributions iirc, it'd just be good to know who it really was. Also we definitely need more girls, beer and food for next time (in descending order of priority). This is the job of Vassilliana, Czech Republic, and US-English respectively. --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 11:55, November 22, 2009 (UTC)

Pizza, mafia and mandolino. Lynch the imposter!--
12:52, November 22, 2009 (UTC)- (cough) (cough) I really can't attend this time. I will be in camp. And if you find a guy named SunnyChow in next meeting ... well... you know what to do.--SunnyChow 11:45, November 24, 2009 (UTC)
- Oh yes. We will hunt them down! By the way, I've fallen ill. But I'm going to attend, so any spies will be banned. —
- Certainly we will, but it seems the most popular opinion so far is to consider all Foreign Office policies as lame and invade Sudetenland... --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 17:15, November 25, 2009 (UTC)
- We'll send there those who voted for it. For the meantime we'll hold the meeting. Two men are going to crush Společné síly. — . 11:10, November 26, 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Translations to English[edit source]
Hey all, since a few English Uncyclopedians have expressed doubts over the quality of some work translated from your barbaric foreign tongues to God's own English, I have decided that all translations by people whose English is less than fluent (or close to) should be placed in "The Waiting Room" until it is up to adequate standards. So please always translate articles to English with this prefix:
[[ Uncyclopedia:Foreign Office/TWR/<PAGE NAME> ]]
Please also write the article and its link on the TWR page (which I will set up ASAP). There will be a choice of two templates to add to the top of the page (which I hope you reference which you chose in the list). These will be:
- Anglification - for pages that contain cultural references that need to be loosely translated into something more understandable to the English readers.
- Combover - for pages that are universally understandable, but need to be checked for grammar, spelling etc....
You can, of course, use both templates if you imagine there will be a problem with both.
Don't worry about it too much at the moment, I'll get it all set up by the next meeting.
--El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 13:07, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- What about Roemenie and other already publicated articles? | | 14:03, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- Don't worry about ones already translated, unless you personally think they need to be checked. This is just for the future. --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 14:05, November 22, 2009 (UTC)

- Uh, the joke's on us, I believe. Let's try to get some posts in, next time. Maybe we should meet twice a week. -_-" |
- It's not of the utmost importance I guess, but perhaps I should send out messages again as people seem to have forgotten. I think twice weekly is pushing it, I just didn't realise how many people (including myself) would forget about it. Also the regulars need to be assigned roles with groovy names and stuff so that we can all share the responsibility of spreading the Good Word of the Foreign Office to the other uncyclopedias --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 15:30, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

Meditation Regarding the Nature, Substance and Consequences of the Fabled "Third Meeting"[edit source]
Good evening/night/morning/afternoon all, I have been instructed by the Tsar of Absurdopedia to pass on the following information regarding yesterday's meeting (which i was sadly unable to make):
- Meetings are no longer obligatory. I shall call for a meeting in times of urgent necessity or religious fervour (such as that might happen following further hostilities from our Czech brethren), but as a general rule, feel free to pop by the chatroom whenever you wish for a chat. Someone will (probably) be there. 7pm on a Saturday remains the fashionable time (jazz nights) to meet up, but no pressure, it's just for minor chat and democratically mulling over such things as UFO logos, inter-uncyc projects. Anyone is welcome. When we call for a proper obligatory meeting, I will message you all personally (this is like to be once a month).
- The Dutch contingent has decided to create a newspaper in which news of the meetings and the general progress of the Foreign Office can be reflected. I, for one, believe this to be an excellent way of recorded the progress of the Foreign Office in stages (we can, for example, have a column devoted to the articles that have been translated that week/fortnight, and the best translators... or a spotlight on some lesser known article writers from the various Uncyclopedias).
Any response and clarification on the matters is very very welcome indeed, especially from Lars, Roye, or Praetorian, who were present at the meeting. --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 19:40, December 6, 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, well, the newspaper idea was sort made assuming that the meetings would remain, but oh well. I could still do some propaganda for the Oncyclopedia. >:-) | 06:37, December 7, 2009 (UTC)
- The Tsar of Absurdopedia ))) I'm just a mere administrator, not even a bureaucrat, but thank you. —
- This calls for a revolution then Praeto, down with the Tsar! Quick, someone make some dynamic banners to support our cause! Also, the meetings will remain, but I will only make a big deal about them if we decide to make a big deal about them beforehand, because I imagine most of the time not a lot interesting will go on, and people might stop being interested in the project entirely. Also I think the newspaper idea would actually strengthen the cause and sustain more interest from our various ambassadors. It seems we no longer have Woman in our ranks. How we get Woman back? --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 16:42, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

- Do we have enough things to talk about to call for a meeting this weekend which will involve the traditional invites? --El Sid, the lazy one • parlez-vous franglais? 15:27, December 8, 2009 (UTC)
- So... I hope everyone here is enjoying whatever you have to enjoy... Our embassy is already working, everyone on our uncy have a list of the english, german, french, italian, russian and spanish uncys to translate to our uncy and vice-versa. We're planning to do a few more advertising (not too much, as we're already overloaded of projects). Also, I'll be using that FOlogotje.png for now, np? IMPORTANT[edit source]
This is Fire_Wolf_br, I wish that all Ambassadors go here, just to keep updated on the exit of the Bureaucrat Kohl, due to problems. Also, I ask you to calm down, as there are people who considers it as a coup-d'etat, and others as "something which needed to be done". This is a long text, so please read everything, if possible. Roemenie[edit source]
To all Ambassadors,
As you may or may not know, the Dutch article Roemenië was translated to Roemenie (alias “The Report from Antwerp(en)”) in September. I have had the article reviewed and I have asked El Sid to check on the spelling and wording.
Finally, maybe late February or March, I am going to nominate it for VFH. Of course, I will not nominate an unfinished product, nor will I rush the preparations, so if I get delayed, it will take longer for the article to be featured.
Of course, I can in no way force you to vote for the article once it is up for VFH. But apart from the personal appreciation, I personally think it would be a great way to show the Uncyclopedia and other Uncycs that the Foreign Office Project is going strong.
This way, we can encourage writers to join the FO Project, we may be able to convince the Désencyclopédiens that foreign articles are not dangerous, and so the possible (quasi-)feature will greatly help the Foreign Office Project.
Therefore, my foreign colleagues, I would like to ask you to help me getting Roemenie, “The Report from Antwerp”, featured. I would really appreciate any suggestion on the talk page. Of course, a vote would also help, although I do not want any vote from people who did not have a look at the article; your vote can be friendly, but not mindless.
Apart from that, I would also like to encourage you to keep the Foreign Office alive. Please keep translating and keep an eye on the other Uncycs. I visit here every day and man alive, am I waiting for someone to want a Dutch article translated.
I also want to thank some people. First of all, I want to thank MFH and Ptok from Italy and Poland, for giving me the info needed to make my translations; Own Goal is still under construction. Secondly, I want to thank Faith, Roy, and Henning. Faith is right now doing her (right?) best on “La blague dangereuse”, Roy is just an awesome writer; mass production at its best! And of course Henning, who, despite this stubborn Dutch guy showing his face wrong place wrong time, appearantly trusts me as a future, might want to stress that, representative for the Oncyclopedia. Finally, I want to thank El Sid for contacting me about this FO Project starting up, which is now hopefully just taking a break before growing into a vast inter-Uncyclopedian project.
Now go and translate something, you foreign buggers! Don't make me do another one of these FD Roosevelt speeches! (New Deal for the win!) Put a sock in it, Frank!
Awaiting the Kingdom FOes,
Lars “Danzegger”,
Chief Translator of the Oncyclopedia
UnDictionary[edit source]
D. G. Neree, a burocrat on the Oncyclopedia came to me with a suggestion. He thinks we should also translate UnDictionary articles.
Also, he would like to do things for the Foreign Office, but he can't due to his permaban. Is some sort of probation possible? | | 21:25, February 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, you can do it with everything, just like UnNews, in international things. Our UnNews, OnNieuws is very in rest, a month no news, AAAAAAAAAAA! But, it can be. I still don't know why he is banned anyway. Will be for some reason. R7 (NL) 21:37, February 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the reason was trolling. But whether or not such a ban was just, this is an inter-uncyclopedian project and people should be able to coöperate. DG has already said he could stay out of Uncyc business and only work on FO pages. |
- What can we do for his exoneration? — . 10:27, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Blue Alert[edit source]
Where is Sid? His last contribution was in February! We have loads of things to do. First of all, we have to invade Prague! Then, we need to find Sid, wherever he may be. Then, we have to breathe, because this sentence just won't come to an end it has no commas or full stops so you have to speak on until you almost collapse which is just really unhealthy! [gasp] Blue Alert! All Ambassadors and Translators report as soon as possible! Praetorian, you and I will run the Foreign Office until Sid returns. |

- Well, just in case, we are taking over control temporarily. Of course, when he returns, it be tomorrow, it be in 6 months, everything will get back to normal. Also, there are some other things we have to discuss, for example with the French Ambassador. Also, there was a sort of role call a while ago and I think this is a good way to see who's still alive. The Danish guy seems to be very much alive, though he haven't worried his mind with translations of danish articles for a decade. What could be interesting for the whole wide world. - Well, we were supposed to find an understudy leader for the FO way back in the beginning, but for some reason we didn't. We do have to keep the FO running, so I sounded the alarm.
- I think Sid was wrong, Praetorian. I just got some aerial photographs and they don't show Russian soldiers, but Finnish ones... How awkward. Are we facing a meta-war? Henning, Howie, Frode Fenis, what do you think are the odds of Sweden teaming up with these rebels? |
- Norway is calling! My ænglish is still as bad as always, so I will try to do this short. I'm alive, Norway i bussy (we are invading Sweden! Why we are invading Sweden? Biff, bacon and pornmovies is much cheaper in Sweden than in Norway!)--Howie 21:22, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, so I guess we can officially confirm Sweden has become our enemy. Praetorian, can you please confirm Belarus and Ukraine are our allies? Also, I'm making an issue of the FO Times. |
- Ukrainian and Belarussian Uncys are too small and there are few users. Absurdopedia joins their efforts, we have many users from Belarus and Ukraine. So, they work to us. —
- As everyone will know Denmark is not in a position to decide where and when to make war any longer, though we have fought the Swedes throughout most of our history. The danish Minister of Defense Gitte Lillelund-Bech ( a woman!) thinks that Afghanistan will be over soon and we will then continue doing war in Laos, Tibet and Mongolia. Howie - GD - you wouldn't know how to make war anyway - apart from in Photoshop. Frode Fenis (talk)(hits)15 Mar 2010 04:25 (UTC)
- @ Preatorian --> Alright, so then the Ukraine and Belarus are allies. The Romanian-Moldavian Ambassador, Erwin, is probably going to join the Foreign Office, too.
- @ All --> The first Issue of the Foreign Times is up. The idea is to copy it to your Uncyc, maybe translate it, insert your own international advertisement, and include your own Ambassador's and Translator's activities. It is probably wise to upload the File:FT4.png to your Uncyc. I'll upload it on UnCommons, please test whether that works for your Uncyc. | | 17:11, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
- I cannot access UnCommons without logging in, so I've asked the Dutch-Flemish Ambassador, Henning, to do it. |
- I felt inspired to make the first Danish edition of Foreign Times ,as long as I can't access your international issue. Frode Fenis (talk)(hits)16 Mar 2010 23:30 (UTC)
- I translated it to Russian the same day you wrote it. (For those who are interested.) — . 14:12, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

- I think it was a good idea if you made some general guidelines for what "Foreign Times" is going to be about for the rest of the translator/embassadors. It's not enough to make a nice header. And the design sucks.....you don't make a nice header and put in on a darkgray beckground. Make some specifications so it doesn't end as another project which failed because, somebody forgot to communicate the idea behind. Frode Fenis (talk)(hits)17 Mar 2010 07:16 (UTC)
- Thank you, I shall work on that. By the way, Gizmoka dropped out. Should we try and look for another Representative or just declare war to Hungary? |
- Too many wars. Soon we'll end up surrounded by enemies. —
- Right, then Hungary shall stay neutral. Right, now what do you say we try and find Representatives for the enemies and Hungary. Maybe I can use my account on the Necyklopedie to make the Czech Republic our ally... |

Lars call me on UnMeta last Saturday, I was busy on weekend (my weekend ends on Wednesday), so, I'm here now! What I did lose? Franklin Kerber 15:27, March 24, 2010 (UTC)
- Reporting in too, I couldn't connect anywhere since the 9th. Sorry for being too late. Fire_Wolf_br 01:44, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
- We decided to move the Project to UnMeta. And to revive the Foreign Times, of course. —
- Right, so that is the Portuguese delegation (well, actually Brazilian, but since I'm using a map of Europe, I'll say Portuguese.) By the way, this message from the Czech and Slovakian TV just got in. “In order to stand strong against the Meta Armies, the Czech and Slovakian leaders have decided to join their strengths and reünite the Republic of Czechoslovakia.” Unless anyone objects before Saturday, I'm going to try and talk to Czechoslovakian diplomats and see if I can make some kind of treaty. |
- No problems. I would also call attention for a problem we're having since December. Our wiki is damn too slow... Well, I've opened a thread at the UnMeta conference room for further discussions. Fire_Wolf_br 19:41, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
- Wtf, UnMeta is also a Carlb's server. Therefore, I couldn't post anything there. I wonder that he got attacked by vicious beavers. Fire_Wolf_br 22:42, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

Tenuous Hungarian Representation[edit source]
Sid here, haven't been around for a very very long time indeed due to (ongoing) activities in that bitch of an antithesis to the Virtual World called Real Life. I'm currently in Hungary (Budapest) about to undergo training as an English teacher and will be occupied with this task until ALL YOU BLOODY FOREIGNERS SPEAK BLOODY ENGLISH. As it is, I won't be on uncyclopedia (what changes...) for quite a long time. Just thought I'd better clarify things though. --Sid Wolf, 11th April 2010 20:17 CE Time.
- Right, well, Praetorian and I are running the Foreign Office right now. You can still take over anytime you want. |
- Oh. You aren't joking, are you? Good luck and not to worry, we'll keep the project safe until you return. Lars, I've seen some talk on Meta, but it was either in Dutch or Portuguese. Any progress in talking local bureaucrats into allowing us to deploy the project there? —
- Well, some pages have already been copied, and we have permission, it's just waiting till someone finds the time to finish the job... |
- And you persuaded Necyklopedie to take part in the Project? Excellent! —
- Yes, I guess this is the right time to make another Foreign Times! |

Are we dead yet?[edit source]
Since the Assembly page has not been edited for exactly a month, I ask the Ambassadors and chief representatives to write their signatures below to find out if the Foreign Project is still alive.

- Yes, but I don't have any data about the current activities of the representatives. —
- We're fine. Well, we maintain our old policy of "we set up the table, with knives, spoons, plates, cups and food. Feel free to serve yourself". We maintain an index of already translated articles with links to many other Uncyclopedias best-of lists, so people can do they work without the need to report to someone, and to keep a control of everything (so we won't have the same article translated twice). I would like to add that Cartoonist is doing a very good job on the forums outside Oncy. Fire_Wolf_br Cookies? 18:09, July 17, 2010 (UTC)

Since I've spotted no improvement in our patient's status, I think it's time to wind up all administrative work in the coordinating centre.
However, all translators are free to do their work; moreover, it is highly encouraged by those of us who know several languages.
Best regards. — . 11:16, July 12, 2011 (UTC)
Translations for UN:VITAL articles?[edit source]
I've been digging around a few of the foreign Uncyclopedias and ran across a few articles currently listed on UN:VITAL. With one or two exceptions, they all seem pretty lengthy and at least one is a featured article. I'm not sure how active this project is at the moment but it'd be great if someone could translate a few of these.

- Hello MadMax the article Thirty Years' War is in fact an article about several wars that nobody really interests for today. Should be something like "The war that happened so long ago". And yes, it was featured as article of the week (week 14 in 2010). -- Zyniker 13:52, September 8, 2011 (UTC)
