I play music whilst writing my articles, finding that listening to solid silence apart from the sound of my own frantic typing is a touch depressing, and have recently found that classical pieces make for a nice, sophisticated companion. Now that YouTube has enabled unlimited video duration, all kinds of hour-long symphony goodies wait to be opened and left in another tab as I make fun of tanning beds and come up with dick jokes. Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, in particular, is a nice accompaniment to my manic-depressive activities. At least, I find it nice. Thoughts? EpicAwesomeness (talk) 12:07, May 19, 2012 (UTC)

Listening to Schostakovich symphony 7 (Lenningrad) will probably inspire some pretty interesting writing. (Think 1812 only a little more insane). --ShabiDOO 11:24, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
Well, I suppose it is nice to know that folks round here are sophisticated. Anyway, off to watch some platypus porn. EpicAwesomeness (talk) 08:04, May 20, 2012 (UTC) Good luck getting that mental image out.
I only bother with that stuff if there are at least fifteen platypuses and a variety of murder weapons. --ShabiDOO 09:37, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
I pulled up Beethoven's Symphony 9 (little clichéd, but oh well) just now as I was rewriting something. It does focus you, I must say. EpicAwesomeness (talk) 10:52, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
I usually listen to instrumental versions of (usually) punk rock or rap songs that I like. Aimsplode (Der_Führerbunker--Wehrmacht Factories) Happy Holidays! 14:12, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
I listen to Karmin. Luckily, I'm completely deaf. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 16:13, May 20, 2012 (UTC)

Goddamnit, how'd I miss this forum?

Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture was one of the first classical pieces I ever owned a recording of. It's why I like Tchaikovsky best, of all the classical composers. His compositions have such a bombastic feel to 'em. I have a decent collection of classical stuff, but it's on my other computer. When I listen to classical, I generally skew towards either Tchaikovsky, Liszt or Beethoven (especially his Pastorale [6th] symphony), although I like Holst, too. We have a classical station here, so I'll listen to that, as well.

However, I find I write best when I am a cocky motherfucker, and I only feel that way when I'm listening to indie rock. And of course we have a couple of those stations here, too. We is so kewl. Oh, I am such a lucky boy. ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngThu, May 24 '12 7:47 (UTC)
