OK, so just now, I was thinking, about PLS mostly. I thought about all those articles that got submitted to the "best rewrite" section, and it gave me an idea. Why not some kind of monthly award for best rewrite, but with votes and everything? I mean, there are all kinds of awful articles sitting around with rewrite tags stuck on them, and I bet there are even more bad pages that nobody has found and tagged yet. Maybe once in a while somebody might do a complete rewrite on their own, but that's pretty rare. So, why not do more to encourage the rewrites? If making a completely new award is out of the question, why not just designate a period of time where every page nommed on VFH has to be a rewrite? It's great that there are new pages being written and all, but there many old ones that could, and really should be good. So, I propose a new award or something to encourage rewrites, that occurs more often than PLS. Just a thought. But seriously, I like it. Having done multiple rewrites myself, I know the satisfaction of "flipping" an article. However, my only problem is that I think that most of the Writers of the Month would just end up winning this too, thus inflating their already gigantic egos beyond help.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 00:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Why this is a bad idea and will fail

Because you proposed it :P-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 00:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

As always, thanks for your support, Ljlego. (-_-) (I needed a face thingy, too) P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon.gif(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 01:10, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

We have a page for things like this. It's called VFH, I believe. And it works, sometimes. I, for one, once got what you kids call a <airquotes>feature</airquotes> on a rewrite. That night, we had steak for dinner. Pop was so pleased. The next day the Germans invaded Poland. The day after that I went to the recruiting office and enlisted. Sadly, the Nazis rejected me for ideological reasons, and I ended up joining the Allies. Oh, well. Maybe next time. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 01:48, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

I vote Against this, unless I get the award for rewriting Mac User. Or someone bribes me. --The Acceptable Thinking cap small.png Cainad Sacred Chao.png (Fnord) 02:37, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Modus, I know what you're saying, but for most users, a lot of the time the incentive just isn't there to do a full rewrite. That's why I liked the PLS, because it's inspiring so many people to rewrite a page, if only to have a shot at that award category. And if there's no need for a whole new award, then why not just make it so that only rewrites can be nommed for VFH for a few days. I don't know what would be considered a rewrite, but I suppose you'd have to get a page that actually had a rewrite tag on it. I haven't been here very long, but I've seen the big lists in Category:Rewrite, and I find it pretty depressing. Actually, it's strange, but awards don't encourage more of much, unless money is attached. I agree that while the best rewrite category is the best thing about PLS, I'm not sure we could get any more of this good thing we're getting with an award (see the Emmanuel Goldstein award for an example of what I'm talking about. Since the award started, people started reading lots of UnNews, then stopped entirely).--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 14:41, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Audio is hard. It's like writing out loud. I can't get more than two sentences out before I mumble, leading to a final audio file that's a mish-mash of the page a sentence or two at a time (and that's just trying to add audio for my own stuff, generally the in-character pages where I'm talking like that anyway. Audio is hard). I don't know how the Zims and Mordillos do it. Out loud, probably. Rewrites, by comparison, are easy. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 20:48, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
I should get around to trying an audio.....a link to where I can download the audio saving stuff, anyone? P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon.gif(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 21:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
...you mean besides the Welcome to UnNews section that Zim already put on your talkpage? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:54, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

uummmmm.... Yes, just like that! I was.....just testing you. You pass! Good work, citizen! P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon.gif(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 21:57, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
