Basically, anything goes, as long as it's funny, same as with everything else on this site. Although, in general I would recommend trying to imitate his Oscar-y style. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon.gif(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 22:23, Apr 24

Oscar-y style...i dont follow wilde stuff, so can you give me a brief demonstration or something? Yes, im a big noob to article making. Nezlr 22:25, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

As a rule of thumb:

Oscar Wilde jokes are played out and way less funny than they used to be. Going by the guiding principle of be funny not stupid, if you are thinking, "What could I come up with that might be funny referenced from Oscar Wilde?" instead of, "Holy crap, if Oscar Wilde said such-and-such-and-something-or-other, that would be the funniest thing ever." then it's probably best to work on other parts of your article first. Originality is funnier than rote repetition of over-played themes. --Sir gwax (talk) Signuke.gif 23:23, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

As a rule of the other thumb

“I have nothing to declare but my own Genus”

If it's not as good that that one, don't bother. Why do I say this thing that I said before this one right here? Because most Wilde quotes aren't good. Most of them, in fact, were bad enough that they were removed on a site-wide quote removal spree. Most are just mediocre enough to not quite elicit an emotion of some kind. This one is genius. It's a laugh (or "larf" if you're foreign, unless you're Swedish, then it's a "ljarfgen"). If you can make ones better than this one, you, by extension, are a genius. So, as a real rule of thumb, if it's actually witty and clever, then give it a try, but otherwise fuggeddaboddit! Or do what Modus said... -- Smallbeer.pngSpillin DylanSmallbeer.pngTALKSmallbeer.pngEDITSSmallbeer2.png03:35, April 29 2008
