I don't know if any of you folks are in touch with the London comedy scene (the quality of the articles these days would seem to indicate otherwise), but if you are, would you happen to have any recommendations for good open mic nights in the area? I'm going to be in town for the next week and I'd like to see if my material about baseball and Thanksgiving works just as well over there as it does here in the states. Much love and appreciation, yo. Uncyc fam 4 life. -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 02:50, March 18, 2011 (UTC)

Anybody been to/heard of The Lion's Den? Seems pretty fun and all, but it doesn't seem like the kind of place where I'd become an instant superstar, which is kind of what I'm shooting for. -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 03:18, March 18, 2011 (UTC)

I always thought that to become an instant superstar you had to record a music video where you sing horribly (but autotune the shit out of it, that's the key) then post it on youtube where it will hopefully NEVER STOP BEING POSTED ON FACEBOOK GODDAMMIT. There is the Comedy Store - http://www.thecomedystore.co.uk/ - you can go too. Well established but launched a lot of careers in the UK. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 09:44, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
The Comedy Store is good but can be busy and/or overpriced. A good option is the Amused Moose (coincidence or what?) on Frith Street. Also, I've just PM'd you on facebook, STM. (Edit) Just re-read your OP properly, and realised you're after places to perform, rather than to go see comedy. There's a listing here that might be useful. -- |c|o|d|e|i|n|e| 13:36, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
Oh...you want to go on stage STM. Baseball jokes and Thanksgiving..hmmm... 99% audience will not know any baseball, let alone baseball jokes as that would depend on knowing something about the game too. As for Thanksgiving, more promising but again, no Thanksgiving here either except what we see on TV or Films. Perhaps going with a foreign audience perceive what either baseball or Thanksgiving is all about would be your best approach. Any other categories you may have? --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 13:54, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
Actually in some parts of London a fusion between Baseball and Thankgiving has evolved so if you could combine the two you might be onto a winner there. But make sure you wear a monocle and say "wat, wat" at the end of every punchline. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Also this. Try some moose jokes. http://www.comedy.co.uk/live/ --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 21:56, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
I've actually tried that. Didn't work too well. The jokes aren't funny when you have to explain, for instance, what a curve ball is. ~ Humbuck.png Talk 23:26, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
